"Why are you wearing that I showed you how to curl your hair with the curlers?" She put her hands on her hips and I just gave her a blank look

"Is that what you came in here for?"

"No ,me and your dad want to spend the day with you-"

"I don't even wanna be here"

"Well you're gonna have to treat me with some respect in my hom-"

"Actually" I stopped her "My dad pays for everything and you freeload off of him , y'all are not even married so I dont have to give you anything . Second of all . Don't wake me up out my sleep to spend some time with anybody I don't even want to be around."

She stared at me for a while while I rubbed the back of my ear and stretched before leaving the room and leaving the door open . I snatched the cover off my body and walked towards the door to close it , just then 'John' walked up .

"Goodmorning"

"Morning."

"Look I know this is hard for you but you're here to spend time with me Promise"

"Ight"

"Ok"

He nodded before walking towards the staircase and I shut the door . Punching the air before walking in the bathroom and getting ready .

"So how's school?" She asked me as we sat in a restaurant

"I'm not in school anymore , graduated a year ago." I said licking my lips "Y'all wouldn't know though because you didn't even care enough to show up"

"I'm ready to go , I am nineteen can I just go back home?"

"Promise why won't you just let this work?!"

"What the hell is supposed to be working ? You left me on my eighth birthday and you think a couple of gifts and fancy dinners are gonna make up for that?!"

"Ghetto" She mumbled taking a sip from her drink and I grabbed the wine bottle launching it at her head making her fall back in the chair .

He stared at me not even bothering to help her off the ground . "You wanna come back after all these years and fuck around with my moms head like that , again ?"

"What are you talking about?"

"I saw you leaving the house that one night"

He didn't say anything causing me to sigh and shake my head before grabbing my purse "Where are you going?"

"You should check on your girlfriend"

I left out the restaurant letting out a deep breath and sitting on the bench . All I wanted to do was talk to June but I was blocked .

Tapping his contact , tapping the call icon hoping he would pick up as tears wet my face.

It rang catching me by suprise and I quickly straightened myself out before he answered "Hello?"

"June?"

"Wussup?"

"Can we ta-"

"Baby who's that?"

"Hold on Liyah" I heard the phone shuffle "Promise Imma call you back"

"Oka-" Before I could reply he hung up and I bursted out in tears .

Me being away for so long has took a toll on our friendship , I've been more distant just because I have to spend time with a man I barely know . I only do it for the sake of my mother .

I started laughing shaking my head and took off my towel getting dressed . "Don't be slamming my doors bruh"

"Like I thought" I walked out the room . Staring at my phone that was now on the counter .

She gone call back ...Right?

After a while of waiting the phone never rung and I walked away . Just as I reached my bedroom door the phone rang and I ran to pick it up .

I walked inside the room with my phone and grabbed my keys walking out of the apartment and jogging down the stairs .

"Heyyy June" A familiar voice called and I smirked.

"Where you about to go?" She walked towards me

"Shidd" I scratched my head and she touched my chest coming close to me. "Why you so close?"

"You gone let me eat it up?" She whispered in my ear.

"Get the fuck off of him" Aaliyah pushed her back making me silently suck my teeth .

"June this you?" Kiyomi asked.

"Yeah" Aaliyah cut me off and I sighed unlocking my car doors .

She walked away looking Aaliyah up and down and laughed walking upstairs.

She sucked her teeth getting inside the car and I pulled off "I feel like you take me as a joke Boomer"

"She's not the same now , I just don't know who she is."

"It's not like Promise to distance herself , especially from us . Maybe she's just going through something right now."

"I hear you" I took a bite of my chicken then started at it as I chewed "What you put in this?"

I took anther bite and closed my eyes "Boyyy" She started laughing and walked into the livingroom with everybody else .

I aint know this was finna be a whole family get together , Nari threw down in this kitchen though..

I nodded my head to the music looking up to my plate seeing Sergio walk in wit his babymama and his daughter , he walked into the kitchen nodding his head at me .

"What it is" He looked at the food "Damn Nari throwing down like that?"

"That's what I said bra" I ate some mashed potatoes. "My heart callllsss"

I looked up and Cuban was eyeing Sergio from across the livingroom .

I laughed and he sucked his teeth .

At this point I was dying laughing and folks started looking at me , Nari just shook her head I could tell she was trying not to laugh.
