I wake up hearing soft knocks on my door then a creak.

"Princess?" The same girl from yesterday came in. "Your breakfast is ready, your lady-in-waiting, aria, is not here yet."

"What time is it?" I mumble.

"The same time you used to wake up when you stayed here? Ahem..sorry it's 7 AM."

"It's so early" I mumbled.

"Oh uh-...would you want me to get one of the maids to clean the basement?"

I snapped out of my sleepy haze after hearing that sentence.
"No, there is no need."

"Alright, princess." She curtsied, making her way out the door, thinking I fully woke up and am now back to my "real" personality.

I remained lying down on the mattress thinking about what could be happening with navier right now since I haven't read that part after I died and everything. I shook my head and decided not to think about it since I was sure whatever would happen she could handle it, or heinrey would.

I got off my bed and decided I'd fake a personality to maybe get at least a few people to not be too overly be against me becoming empress. It won't suddenly make them love and respect me, but we can always start early.

I got changed and walked downstairs to the dining room.

I walked into the room and there was a long rectangular table with only one chair on one end and food on the plate.

It looked so lonely? I sat on the chair and started eating. There were a few maids in the room waiting to take my plates when I would finish.

Near my chair was a rack with a newspaper. I picked it up and read while eating.

"The fire has finally settled down. witnesses say they saw hooded people wearing odd clothing, they addressed themselves as sovieshu's guests. The living victims of this fire claim those you passed chose "It was sovieshu!" as their last words. The emperor suspects a gang sent from the western empire as revenge for keeping their dear emperor "hostage". People presume a war will be announced against the western empire but in our conditions it's highly not likely to happen very soon.
Among the many corpses, the few with noticeable faces was, Melissa the
former lady-in-waiting for princess y/n she was found in the halls with-"

I had finished eating. I closed the newspaper and placed it back on the rack before leaving.

I made my way to the basement, where rashta was. The door hardly made a noise, I walked down the stairs, my gloved hands placed together in front of me, interlocking.

The fire was crackling, rats squealing, and the worst of all...the room reeked of the smell of rashta.

I stopped right in front of her.

I notice she hasn't touched the bread and she wasn't moving. I don't bother shooing the mice away from eating her bread. If she wouldn't eat it then they could have it. I mean they are equals here.

Such a wasteful rat, she is.

"wake up." I said sternly.

"Huh!" She yelled, looking around.

"Your screams truly are both irritable and amusing in certain ways."

She glared at me,

"You are lucky I need you alive," I looked around the room, clearly not a single other person in sight and stood up straight, stretching the column of my neck. Despite being at a loss for words her heart is loud with fright.
She looks down as if in careful thought for her next words. And when she opened her mouth to speak I merely heard a light squeak and stutter before she shut it back. "What is it." I told, furrowing my brows at the disgusting odors coming from her.
"I-I-I-I don't u-u-understand." She starts and I could tell by her tone of voice she'd start her little rants.

"Wh-why do you treat me like this I don't understand you but I wanted to but you didn't give me the chance to i-it-its like you've known me. HOW, why do you always know what I'm trying to do. It always feels as if you know where to find me and follow around to torment me it-." She breaks down into tears blabbing her next incoherent words with sobs and deep breaths, she screams, voice cracking and dry. Like an eerie whisper, the rasp in her voice. "I-I-I-I just want to know!" I heard from her tiny yells and screams.

I glare in disgust from her toxic curiosity. Does she not know her situation, this isn't therapy, I am not her therapist. Almost gagging, I speak. "Why do you keep searching me out. You should probably know by this point, it isn't good for you." I giggle...just slightly.
"W-why, where, who." She stuttered and cried, clearly not even thinking about how she might regret her choice of words later on.

Pov change, just cause✰°࿐

They both glare into each others eyes for seconds in silence, the fear in rahsta's showing clearer than her fake persona. In mere seconds as rashta drowns into y/n's eyes, the basement washes in bloody red, walls pulsating as if it were alive and breathing. Rashta stutters back in fear "w-w-whats happening!!!"

"Ofcourse, it's just in your head. If you touch it, it'll touch you too."

Rashta dreads the hanging woman bathed in blood crawling out of the dusty painting seems like it's about to crawl towards her, crunch and eat her whole. Y/n smiles, sharp and sinister, taking rashta's chin in hand. Rashta felt as if she were drowning, as if the well-dressed woman's smirk could make rashta see things, become things, kill her own lights, and break her windows. Through her haze...things, people flashed through the corners of her eyes. Mangled bodies, twisted bones, brokeΒ  glass, gore, hair ripping, teeth shredding, skin peeling, worms and magots and rot and molds, slow and painful drag through the new wash of red in the room.

Nauseating....

The well-dressed woman, y/n, finally spoke once again, still a blur flashing around in red through rashta's eyes.
"I can make you see things...feels things. And that is infinitely better. No one cares what you think. No one remembers you. No one loves you. No one even thinks of you. I can feel your fear, your heart is pounding." Y/n finally breaks eye contact, leaving rashta broken and sobbing.

It would be enough mind torture for a week, but I might even do it again tomorrow.

As if snapping back to reality,
she looked down taking a glimpse at the rats at her feet. She shrieked
"I hate rats!!!"

Dead rat noises☠︎

Barely any days of not going down the basement to give rashta or the rats some stale bread has passed. Sovieshu hasn't even started rebuilding the palace.

I was in my room, sitting on my chair, reading newspapers. I felt like an old man, seeing as viscount lotteshu and other old people read the newspapers.

They've been hanging up missing posters of rashta but what they won't be expecting is that their precious emperor is next.

In those few days, I haven't opened the only bag I had brought, aside from rashta's body bag.

Having forgotten what I had put in the bag, I took the bag that I had placed in the near corner of the room to open it.

As I remembered there were a bunch of sheathed swords and other weapons. After taking out all the weapons, at the bottom I find stacks of cash and gold coins.

I had brought my spared allowance. Atleast all that sovieshu hasn't asked me to use on things he wanted. Using the excuse that his "allowance" was used for the comfortability of the kingdom, as if he didn't spend it all on rashta.

After taking them out, I placed them on my desk in neat piles.

I unexpectedly thought of the underground vault where most of the gold was hidden. I recall that I had rigged the place up to not be affected by the fire. Unbeknownst to them, the money is safe.

I stacked the money back in the bag and placed it where I found it.

Leaving my room, I get my lady-in-waiting, aria, to prepare my horse.

✰

I was waiting outside my estate when finally the butler came with my horse. I told him I would be back late then my horse started running.

I got off my horse and mumbled "Stay," And so, my horse did.
I walk into the Academy to be greeted by a bunch of people I didn't know, but knew me.

"What happened in the palace."

"Are you hurt?"
"Is his majesty ok? Why hasn't he done anything about the palace?"
"How can we help you?"
"Do you need something?"

"He is alive, he wishes not to see me. I believe he is worrying about his mistress over the empire. I am looking for the library."

"Follow me, princess." Some guy said as others behind him whispered about the new gossip to share.

He leaves me alone once we reach the library. He didn't even question why I needed the library?

I shrugged it off and looked around for books.

Once I sat down on the floor leaning on the bookshelf I hear little footsteps. I look up and around to see who it was but I don't see anyone.

"Hi, princess y/n!" A childlike voice to my side told.

I look in her direction, and it was Evalie. "What are you doing here?" She asked sitting beside me.

"I'm just reading some books on magic," I replied, smiling.

She leans over looking at what I'm reading. I was sure she knew how to do it already, and so did I. Except I was making a little twist on it.

I made small talk with evalie while I read.

I had finished reading a few books but, it was late out. Evalie was leaning on my shoulder, asleep.

I tap on the books before they fly off returning to where I got them and picked up evalie. She jolts awake "I'm sorry! Did I fall asleep?"

"it's alright, it's getting late." I chuckled.

I place her down and she waves goodbye, running off with a smile.

I left the library and went back to my estate.

✰

I went back to my room and instantly jumped on my bed, to go to sleep since it was late, and I had a long tiring day today.
