"So you telling me.. Na'Jour was the only person in that whole mall that got shot?"

"Yes China, did you not watch the news?"

"That don't sound fishy to you?"

"It does."

"It's always some shit with y'all. Who else wants y'all dead, like shit. Can't get no type of break, y'all always caught up in something."

I just shook my head. The door slowly opened and in walked a nurse with a bouquet of flowers with a note in it.

"Who's that from?" I asked eyeing the note.

The nurse shrugged. "I ain't read the note, you tell me."

China scrunched her face up. "This hospital is beyond ghetto." She said as the nurse walked out. She then looked at KJ who was on his phone. "Why you so quiet?"

KJ looked up at her. "What I'm 'posed to say?"

She glared at him for a few seconds before nodding. "Mm.. check the note Jayla."

I stood up and walked towards the flower, I bent down and smelt it before grabbing the note.

"It's from Sylvia and Ezariah." I said placing it back down. "Sending him prayers and said they'll try to catch a flight here soon."

"What if she set him up?" China said and I shook my head.

"She's not even in town."

"And? A quick and simple phone call could make big conflicts."

"Nah ion think so. Why would she set him up?" I sat down next to Kaiser.

"Prolly cause he put his hands on her."

"You quick to blame something on someone." KJ spoke up.

"I'm just tryna help." China shrugged. "You not saying shit so now I'm finna blame it on you, where were you?"

KJ chuckled.

".. I'm serious? Where were you? Why it took you so long to come?"

"Traffic."

"You're lying." China scrunched her face up waving him off.

"I— aht, you're lying I don't care." She cut him off.

"I don't think KJ did this." I said defending him. Truth be told I don't know what to think. I don't wanna guilt trap people though, I just wanna find out what happened, or what's happening.

"Mm.. so now what?" China said.

"What?" I looked at her.

She eyed Na'Jour and pointed at him. "He ain't wake up since y'all been here?"

"Nope. Not while I was in here at least. Doctor said he should up in a few though, it's still early."

"Ight well, I gotta head out. Let me know when he's awake." KJ stood up. We watched as he walked towards the door.

"Where you going?" China asked tilting her head.

"You not my bitch. Don't worry about where I'm going." He spat harshly making China jerk her head back and I just looked between the two with my eyebrows raised.

"I'm not yo bitch but you was feening for me and texting me non stop not too long ago? Hm, you right, I'm definitely not yo bitch." China said.

I scratched my neck looking at them as they bickered back and forth and before it got too loud I cut them off.

"Okay let's not. KJ you were leaving right?" I nodded towards the door.

"Right." He mumbled before walking out.

China huffed laying back in her seat. "Bitch ass nigga."

After grabbing myself ice and 2 cups of water I headed back to Na'Jour's room. It going on to 2 in the afternoon and Na'Jour still wasn't awake.

Hopefully when I walk in this room it'll be a miracle and he'll be awake.

I quietly opened the door but stopped in my tracks when I saw Na'Jour awake, and Kaiser laying next to him on the bed.

"Oh shit." I blinked.

I fully walked in and sat in the chair next to them.

"Water?" I held it out and he grabbed it, instantly drinking it all then sat the cup down.

"You okay? Should I call a doctor down her—"

"I'm good." He nodded.

"Ok.."

It was silent for a minute before he spoke again.

"KJ was here?" He asked.

"Yeah." I replied.

"Ion think we can trust him.."

"I said I had suspicions but you ain't wanna believe it.. but why you say that now?"

"He was there."

I scrunched my face up.

"He was where?" I asked.

"At the mall. I saw him. He was the last person I caught eye contact with before I got shot. I saw him from a distance."

"I didn't see him.." I trailed off. "You sure it was him?"

"Of course you didn't see him. You left." He looked at me and I looked away.

"Okay well don't try to do that. I left for me and Kaiser's safety. I expected you to follow us." I said. "What were you even doing?"

"That's selfish." He chuckled.

"How is that selfish. You expected me to stay and wait for your slow ass? And risk getting me or Kai hurt? I just had stitches in my head, I think I got hurt enough. At least you didn't die." I said.

"At least I didn't die?" He jerked his head back slowly with a mug.

"I said what I said Na'Jour. I'm sorry but then I'm not."

He scoffed and I stood up. "Ima go get a doctor, and something to eat."

I kissed Kaiser's forehead before walking out.

I caught a nurse's attention and made it known that Na'Jour was awake before leaving to head to McDonald's since it was the closest.

I connected my phone and picked a song to play even though it was gonna be a quick drive.

I glanced through the rear mirror before looking back at the road. After about a minute I looked again just to make sure and saw the same car behind me.

"Ian even finna jump into conclusions." I mumbled. I turned going the opposite way of McDonald's just to make sure. The car also turned.

I kept driving straight before I came to a stop sign. I looked again. Their windows was tinted so I couldn't really look to see who exactly the person was. I looked back at the road.

I turned right, then turned left. I looked through the mirror and the car was gone. I sighed out of relief then continued my route to McDonald's.

"Kiss me, lick me, hug me, fuck me while I— wait a damn minute." I looked through the rear mirror seeing the same car.

"Unt unt." I leaned over opening the glove compartment, I grabbed the gun I had in there before sitting back up and rolling my window down.

I slowed down a bit and quickly poked my head and arm out the window and shot at the car's tires before speeding off. I rolled the window up and tossed the gun back in the compartment.

My phone suddenly started ringing and I answered seeing it was China.

"Bitch I just shot at someone's car." I instantly said out of breath.

"Bitc— what?"

"It looked like they was following me so I just grabbed my gun and shot at they tires."

"Girl.. did you see who the person driving was?" She asked.

"No. Windows was tinted. Where you at?" I asked.

"Home. I just got out the shower. What if it was just some random person coincidentally going the same place you was going?"

"Then I'm fucked. But I don't think it was a coincidence." I said.

"You sure?"

I didn't reply.

"Where you at now? Na'Jour awake?"

"Yeah he's up. I'm just driving around just in case. Ion wanna stop anywhere yet."

"Okay. Ima meet you at the hospital, I'll be there in 30."

"Bring food." I said.

"Mhm."
