"YOU PUT a rather large kink in my plans, sweetheart," Klaus spoke to Elena as he dragged her around the school with Emery following behind. "The whole point of breaking the curse and becoming a hybrid was to make more hybrids. I haven't been able to do that. Now my bet is, it has something to do with the fact that you're still breathing."

"If you're going to kill me, just do it!"

The hybrid shook his head at the doppleganger's words, "not until I know I'm right. But I do have ways of making you suffer." With that, he opened the gym's door and pulled her inside.

Emery looked around at the few students who were there setting up pranks.

"Attention, seniors," Klaus spoke up in an american accent which had Emery roll her eyes. 'Not again,' she thought.

As if he could tell what she was thinking, his eyes darted to her and he gave her a small smirk while he continued to speak, "you have officially been busted. Prank night is over. Head on home."

The students groaned, disappointed as they began to leave. However, Klaus noticed two students and got closer to them. He dropped his fake accent, "you two. I remember you."

"I'm sorry," Dana mumbled, confused, "who are you?"

"Oh, don't worry, I wasn't in my right head last time we met," he stared in her eyes, compelling her, "lift your foot up, please, Dana." The girl did as she was told.

"Klausβ€”" Emery was cut off when the hybrid turned to look at the boy, compelling him as well, "it she drops her foot, Chad, I want you to beat her to death. Understood?" Chad nodded.

"Don't, Klaus," Elena shook her head, scared, "you don't have to hurt anybody."

"Oh, come on," Klaus clicked his tongue, smiling, "of course I do."

"I don't like this," the witch muttered, looking over at Klaus with a frown. He raised his brows at her, "no? Well that's too bad, love."

"Why should Chad be the one to beat Dana?" Emery questioned, looking at the boy who hadn't been really nice to her during her freshman year. "Why's it not the other way round?"

Klaus bit his lip, amused, "you want Dana to beat Chad up?"

"I mean it wouldn't be so badβ€”" Emery was cut off by Elena who turned to her, disgust filling her features. "Really, Em? Really?"

"What?"

"You're a witch for the love of god!" Elena exclaimed, "do something! You could've stopped him ages ago! We could've been running right now if you justβ€”"

"Stop talking," the witch interrupted her, "you know I can't use my magic." She wouldn't have been able to even if she wanted to since she was feeling pretty weak from earlier. She was yet to know what has happened when she dropped unconscious.

"You're useless," the doppleganger mumbled with a scoff. Klaus raised his brows at Elena. Before he could say anything, he heard Dana gasp as she was about to fall but she managed to keep standing on one foot. "Keep it up."

Emery tried not to let Elena's words get into her but she knew how much they were true. Klaus noticed the shift in her mood the second those words left the doppleganger's mouth.

The hybrid turned to look at her and took a step closer. He parted his lips and just as he was about to say something, she beat him to it, slowly shaking her head. She already knew what he was going to say judging by the look he held in his eyes.

The hybrid ignored her words, a small smirk appearing on his lips which made her furrow her brows in confusion. He leaned in, his lips touching her ear as he whispered, "we both know that the only reason you're not doing anything is because you don't want to get away from me."

"Well, no, not really," she whispered back, fighting off a smile when she caught him rolling his eyes, "I really can't use my magic right now but whatever helps you sleep."

Klaus pursed his lips, breathing out a chuckle, feeling better as he managed to lift up her mood. She was smiling at his reaction as he nodded, faking a hurt look, "alright then."

"Alright then," she repeated before remembering she had something to ask, "what happened when I was unconscious?"

"Long story, short," Klaus began, "Rebekah figured that Stefan was hiding something so I took her for word it and here we are. You were unconscious for a pretty long time, about an hour or so."

"How did I fall unconscious?" She asked, unsure whether Stefan told her the truth. She doubted he did.

"Stefan said you got sick," the hybrid replied, confirming her doubts. Emery only nodded in response, "and what about Gloria?"

"He said she bailed," Klaus mumbled with a small shrug. The witch hummed at that, a sigh getting past her lips. Maybe Gloria would've helped her, maybe she wouldn't but either way, Emery knew how to perform a linking spell and if Gloria was right then maybe she was not going to die anytime soon. She just had to figure out how to ask Klaus without revealing her curse.

"How bad is that sickness of yours?" Klaus found himself asking, having momentarily forgotten about the other presence in the room. "I know something's wrong with you so don't even try to deny it. Do you fall unconscious often?"

"Sometimes when I'm like really tired," she looked away, not wanting to meet his stare.

He couldn't stop himself from placing a finger under her chin, lifting her head to she would look at him, "it only happens when you use your magic, right? So you're going to be fine if you don't use it. Why did you use it earlier anyway?"

"Some things came up."

He sighed, knowing he was not going to get a honest answer. However, he didn't push it for once, noticing how pale she was actually looking. "Do you need food? Water? Anything?" He asked upon remembering that she was a human and she actually needed food to survive.Β

Emery chuckled at his question, "no, I'm fine. Thanks for asking though."

"Can't have you die on me just yet," he mumbled, lowering his voice more. Emery bit her lip and held her breath when he whispered, leaning even closer, "not when I'm starting to like the idea of having you by my side, little witch."

Without giving her the chance to say anything else, he placed a quick kiss on her neck and took a step back to look at her face. Her eyes were slightly wide opened and her cheeks were red. She stared at him in surprise, unaware that he would even admit that.

Elena narrowed her eyes at the two. She noticed how close he was standing to her a few seconds ago and found herself wanting to hear what they were talking about in hushed whispers but she couldn't. She hated it. It made her frown in suspicion before she remembered something and spoke up, "where's Stefan? What did you do to him?"

Klaus sighed in annoyance as he turned to look at the doppleganger, "Stefan's on a time out."

Just then, the door flew open and Bonnie walked in along with Matt. Elena's eyes widened, "Bonnie, get out of here!"

The Bennett witch turned around and was about to leave but Klaus was fast as he vamp-sped in front of her, blocking her way out. "Ah, I was wondering when you'd show up. Now we can get started." He looked over at Dana, "Dana, why don't you relax? You and Chad sit tight," he then flickered his eyes to Bonnie again, "I assume you're the reason Elena's still walking around alive?"

"That's right," Bonnie held his stare, "if you want to blame someone, blame me."

"Oh, there's no need for blame, love," Klaus clicked his tongue, "just your witchy interference seems to have caused some undesirable side effects. And since you caused the problem, I'm going to have you find the fix."

Rebekah entered the room, dragging Tyler with her. "Get off me!" The werewolf exclaimed, struggling to free himself but the blonde original was far too strong for him. "Hush now."

"I'd like you all to meet my sister Rebekah. Word of warningβ€”" Klaus paused, "she can be quite mean."

"Don't be an ass," she muttered, throwing Tyler in Klaus's arms.

"Leave him alone!"

Klaus ignored Elena's words as he walked over and dragged Tyler to stand in front of them, "I'm going to make this very simpleβ€” Every time I attempt to turn a werewolf into a vampire hybrid, they die during the transition. It's quite horrible, actually."

He bit his wrist and shoved it near Tyler's lips, forcing him to drink his blood as he stared at Bonnie, "I need you to find a way to save my hybrids, Bonnie. And for Tyler's sake, you better hurry." With that, he twisted the werewolf's head, killing him. Elena, Matt and Bonnie watched in shock as he dropped dead on the ground.

Emery, however, wasn't surprised. She had known this was going to happen the second Rebekah walked into the gym with Tyler.
