make ups and movies

Every morning for nearly a month now, Molly had stood outside of the diner, waiting for Rory to bring out her coffee before heading to school. Wyatt had barely looked at her, the most interaction they'd had was when he had accidentally run into her in the hall. He could hold a grudge, she had no doubt in that, but she was sure he hated her at that point.

In actuality, Wyatt had only been doing what he thought she wanted. He was distancing himself, going against what he wanted, for the sake of no longer suffocating her. That, and he had thought too much on what Miss Patty had said the day everything happened. Although he had still hung out with Izzy when she hadn't been with Molly, he was missing the red head more than he wanted.

After the fight, Wyatt had started his therapy sessions again, Luke afraid he'd lose himself. He had taken the sessions throughout eighth grade to freshman year, when his anger and anxiety had been at its peak. Fights used to be a common thing for him, the lack of control heightened by his growing body. His therapist had suggested Hockey as a way to let it out without truly hurting anyone. That helped, along with Molly's support and his medication.

Anger and anxiety hadn't been the only thing Wyatt had been diagnosed with in his sessions though. He had abandonment issues, caused by the trauma of his mother. Wyatt had always wondered why he grew so attached to people so fast, the fear that they'd eventually leave always sitting in the back of his mind. He just never would've diagnosed himself with having an actual problem.

He also never told Molly of this, he didn't want her to feel trapped, like she had no other choice but to be his friend. Izzy knew, she'd been the one to comfort him when it had gotten bad, yet he couldn't bring himself to tell Molly. Even now, when he'd felt worse than ever, watching her sit outside the diner, too afraid to walk inside, all he could do was put on his best smile.

Most mornings, when she'd come by, he'd hide himself behind the counter, struggling not watch herβ€”hoping to see a smile on her face. This morning was different though, he had left the diner early for a morning workout at the school. He thought if he left soon enough, he wouldn't run into Molly, that she'd come after he'd gone.

But Molly and Rory had an early morning as well, the red haired twin skating down the street with a tired smile as she yelled for her sister to walk faster. Molly hadn't payed much attention to her surroundings, to focused on teasing Rory to see Wyatt walking down the steps of the diner.

"Would you put down the book andβ€”" Molly's body went flying forward, landing into the hard chest of Wyatt as he hit the cement. "Holy shit, I'm soβ€”" she froze as she began to push herself up, Wyatt's baby blue eyes staring back at her in a daze. "I'mβ€”I'm sorry." She stammered, scurrying up from the ground, her eyes glued to him.

"Hey, are you okay?" Rory asked, running over to them, Wyatt couldn't utter out a word. His heart was racing and his brain scrambled as Rory reached down to help him up.

"I'mβ€”yeah, I'm fine." Wyatt mumbled, wiping his scrapped hands onto his jeans.

"Good, I'm gonna get some coffee." Rory said, taking notice of their weary eyes.

When she walked into the diner, Molly quickly grabbed her board, ready to skate away. Wyatt grabbed his duffle from the ground, trying to break his stare from the girl. They didn't say a word to each other, both conflicted in emotions, fearing of what the other would say.

As Molly jumped back on her board, ready to rid of the awkward greeting, Wyatt rolled his eyes at himself, sighing out.

"Cherry, wait." Both looked back at each other, hopeful they could make amends to their childish silent treatment. Wyatt grew frustrated at himself, trying to compile words to say and his eyes began to water. "I miss you." Was all he could get out, but that was enough for her.

Molly's own eyes brimmed with hot tears, kicking herself of the board and her arms flew around him. She didn't say anything, instead, she held onto his waist as if he'd run away at any moment. His flannel covered arms made their way around her shoulders, a thin mouthed smile growing on his face.

"I'm sorry, I'm so so fucking sorry Wyatt." Molly pulled back, staring up at him with tear eyes.

He smiled down at her, wiping the tears from her cheeks, "please don't cry." That only made her tears come down harder and he brought her back to his chest. "You're an ugly crier, Gilmore." He hadn't been serious when he said it, only trying to keep himself from breaking down as well.

"You're a dick." Molly laughed, shoving herself away from him to wipe her own tears.

"Well, I've heard I've got a biβ€”"

"Don't finish that." Her nose scrunched in disgust, the boy smiling at her with soft eyes. "I shouldn't have said what did. I knowβ€”I know you probably hate me and it's okay if you don't forgive me, because I don't even forgive myselfβ€”"

"Molly."

"It was such a bitch thing to say, and I'm a terrible friend andβ€”"

"Molly."

"And I'm soβ€”"

Wyatt gripped her arms, forcing her to look at him, "I forgive you." He told her, her mouth fell to a frown, "I'm the idiot for ignoring you, I thoughtβ€”I thought you'd want that and I thought it was what was best but, fuck Molly, you're my best friend and I don't ever want to do that again."

"We woβ€”"

"God, finally!" Their hug broke, both looking to see a bright smiled Izzy running towards them. "I was beginning to think I'd have to trick you into talking." Izzy said, wrapping her arms around them excitedly and squeezing tightly.

"How would you do that exactly?" Wyatt asked, sliding out of her arms and lifting her from the ground.

"I was working on a plan." She answered, letting herself lay back in his hold. "If you want to carry me around school all day so I don't have to walk, that'd be greβ€”" he set her back down, realizing she'd been okay with him carrying her.

"Why are you up this early anyway?" Molly asked the blonde, raising a brow at the unusual behavior.

"Miss June said I should start working out before school." Wyatt answered, slinging his arm over Izzy's shoulder. "Plus, y'know Ashley?"

Izzy nudged the blonde in the rib with her elbow, "can we still do friends giving this year?" Izzy asked, but Molly was looking at Wyatt, curious about his question.

"Yeah, I know Ashley." Molly answered, rolling her eyes at the obnoxious cheerleader.

"Well we'reβ€”ow! Isabella stop fucking doing that." Wyatt smacked away the gurls hand as she pinched his arm. Izzy stared at Wyatt, her big brown eyes pleading like a puppy.

"Iz?" Molly questioned, the girl looking to her with an innocent smile.

"Yeah?"

"Why wont you let Wyatt tell me what he wants to?" Molly asked, crossing her arms over her chest and staring curiously at the younger.

"I, umβ€”" Izzy sighed, her eyes bouncing between her two best friends. "I don't want you to get into a fight again, it's stupid, I know. If Wyatt wants to tell you though, I can't stop him just please for the sake of my sanity don't get mad." Izzy answer edit truthfully. It had been hard for her having to go between them, choosing who she wanted to see each day when she wanted both of them.

"I wouldn't get mad, he's a big boy." Molly assured her, Wyatt smirked at her words, his mind going to a different place. "Ew, Wyatt!"

"Hey, you said it." Wyatt laughed, letting his arm fall from Izzy's shoulder and walking over to Molly's board. "Anyway, we've been hooking up, Ashley and I, but I was thinking of asking her out." Wyatt said, stepping onto the board and lightly kicking off.

"So you actually like her and you're not playing with her feelings?" Molly asked, watching him skate back and forth on the sidewalk.

"Yeah, I think I do." Wyatt answered, flipping his hat backwards on his head. "Mind if I take this?" He asked, pointing to the board.

"I do miβ€”" Wyatt shrugged, ignoring her words and kicking off the sidewalk, taking her board with him. "Wyatt William Danes, you better not break that!" Molly yelled, only receiving a thumbs up as he skated away with a grin.

"Ashley's not bad, I talked to her at a game last weekend and she's super sweet." Izzy said, grabbing Molly's hand as they walked up to the diner.

"Was it genuine sweetness or the 'as soon as you turn your back I'll tell everyone your secrets' type sweet?" Molly asked, opening the door to the diner and she entered, for the first time in too long.

"I think it was genuine, yknow, just because she's a cheerleader doesn't mean she's a stone cold bitch." Izzy stated, throwing her things onto the table Rory was sat at.

"Who are we talking about?" Rory asked, closing her book as she was now interested in their conversation.

"Ashley Howard." Izzy answered as Molly walked up to the counter in hopes for a coffee.

"I know her, we had economics together last year." Rory said, her usual sweetheart smile prominent on her face. "I thought she was nice, did she do something?" Rory asked, Molly turned from the counter, Luke busy taking orders.

"Nah, Wyatt's just got a thing with her, I guess." Molly answered, looking over at Luke as he stood in the corner of the diner, his notepad in hand. Molly stepped behind the counter quickly, too impatient to wait for her coffee.

"I give it a month." Rory said, a mischievous grin on her face.

"Two weeks, twenty dollars." Molly responded, pouring the hot coffee from the pot into her cup.

"Molly, get out from behind my counter!" Luke yelled, rushing over to her and she laughed, setting the pot back and hurrying back to her table. "How many times do I have to tell you thatβ€”wait, have you and my idiot kid finally made up?" Luke asked, a sliver of a smile appearing on his face.

"Yes, Lucas, so can I have some pancakes?" Molly asked, taking a seat at the table.

"I've got some blueberries." Luke fell back to his usual grumpy manner.

"Those are my favorite pancakes." Molly exclaimed, Luke only nodded, looking to Izzy.

"Already ate." Izzy smiled, Luke hummed, walking to the kitchen. "My bet is that you're both wrong and this one will actually last." Izzy said, Molly rolled her eyes, sipping on the coffee.

"He gets bored too easy, name one girl who's actually kept his attention longer than a month." Molly retorted, Izzy looked at her, her eyes annoyed.

"I could but you wouldn't like it." Izzy mumbled, Rory let out a giggle and Molly's brows furrowed.

"Jamie? I actually liked her, she told me she liked my shoes." Molly said, looking down at her muddy black converse that were once brand new.

"Sure." Izzy snickered, shaking her head lightly.

"Have you guys signed up for the thanksgiving festivities this year? You know Taylor's gonna throw a fit if you haven't." Rory asked, looking out the diner window at the endless banners strung over the town.

"I don't think he'll have a problem if I don't sign up." Molly answered, knowing the man had no sort of liking towards her.

"Plus, every time we do try to sign up, Wyatt goes on a thanksgiving history rant." Izzy added, taking Molly's coffee cup into her own hands and drinking from it.

"What's wrong with thanksgiving?"

"Let's just say, the history books are definitely sugarcoated to be child friendly." Molly muttered, taking her coffee back from Izzy. "Besides, even if I wanted to do it, I've got plans with Tristan. His parents are out of town so I'm going over to his house."

Both Rory and Izzy's eyes went wide, "by yourself?"

"Just you two alone?" They asked, Molly nodded, not seeing a problem with it.

"Yeah? He's my boyfriend, I think it's fine if we spend a few hours watching some films." Molly told them, kicking out the empty chair beside her and resting her feet on it.

"I think your definition of watching a movie and a teenage boy's is completely different." Izzy said, Rory nodding along with weary eyes.

"He's not gonna do anything I don't want to, but what's the matter if I want to?" Molly asked, raising a brow at her best friend and sister.

"You could get preβ€”"

"I can also be prepared, I payed attention in sex ed, Ror." Molly retorted, knowing exactly what her sister was going to say.

"I just think the entire thought of a diβ€”yeah, gross." Izzy faked a gag as she struggled to say the word, disgust covering her face.

"We're too young to be having sex anyβ€”" Rory's eyes widened as her words came to a stop.

"Please, tell me I didn't hear what I think I did." Luke said, setting the plate of pancakes in front of Molly and the three girls smiled innocently up at him.

"You're old, so probably not." Molly responded, shrugging lightly though her anxiety had run high.

"Youβ€”eat your damn pancakes and get to school." Luke spat out, rolling his eyes and turning away from the table. The three girls faces flushed red as he walked away, Molly struggling to hold in a laugh as Izzy and Rory glared at her.

Though they had made up, Molly and Wyatt didn't talk much in school that day, other than the blonde asking for a pencil in homeroom. At lunch, he sat with Ashley, his arm around her as he laughed obnoxiously loud with his teammates. He'd still hung out with them, other than Gavin who had avoided Wyatt everywhere but the ice.

It wasn't until school got out that Wyatt finally squeezed himself between Izzy and Molly as they walked out the doors. The redhead's skateboard beneath his arm, undamaged as he handed it over.

"Hey, ladies." Wyatt greeted, slinging his arms over their shoulders.

"Any homework for the holiday weekend?" Izzy asked him, taking notice of the lack of bag on his back.

"It can wait." He shrugged, removing his arms from around them and skipped forward, turning back to face them as he walked backwards on the sidewalk. "I was thinking, when I get back in town, we can go to the movies." Wyatt suggested, taking his car keys from his pocket and spinning them around his finger.

"Back in town?" Molly asked, her brows furrowing tightly.

"Oh, um, yeah, gotta go to Hartford forβ€”" Wyatt bit the inside of his cheek, looking to Izzy who nodded reassuringly. "Gotta meet the therapist." He told her, trying to force his usual smile though he felt ashamed to admit it.

"You're back in sessions?" Molly asked, a small, curious smile on her face.

"Yeah, guess you hit one douche in the face and suddenly that means you're gonna start hitting everyone." He tried to joke, but his laugh came out in a struggle, turning back to face the correct way. "So, movie night then?" Wyatt asked, still swinging his keys around.

"Yeah, do you know what they're playing?" Molly asked, grabbing Izzy's hand as they walked.

"Mystic Pizza, I think." He answered, looking back at them one last time. "8 o'clock, you better be there!" He yelled, running to his car which parked across from the diner.

"We will!" Izzy yelled back, receiving a thumbs up as he got into the car. Molly's smile fell as he started to drive off, "hmm?" Izzy questioned her mood shift, her head tilting and she squeezed her hand.

"Is he okay?" Molly asked quietly, a feeling a guilt pitting in her stomach.

"I think he's trying." Izzy answered, she didn't want to tell Molly too much of what had been going on with him incase he'd gotten upset. "He's good at containing how he really feels, always has been. I justβ€”" Izzy sighed, "I'm glad he's back in sessions, before it got bad again."

"I hope it doesn't get like it was." Molly mumbled, leaning her head against the shorter girls shoulder as they walked towards their houses.

"I don't think it will." Izzy assured her, Molly sighed releasing their hands only to wrap her arm around her waist.

"I should ask my mom if Sookie can make some snickerdoodle cookies." Molly said, watching their feet as they walked in sync.

"Those are Wyatt's favorite."

"I know."

"Just don't be too nice or he'll think you're pitying him." Izzy said, stepping away from Molly's hold as they got to her house. "I'll see you tonight." Izzy waved as she ran up the steps of her home, leaving Molly to walk the rest of the way to her own house.

Molly had decided to dress down for the film, throwing on a sweater she'd stolen from Rory along with a pair of loose jeans, keeping her warm in the chilly weather. Her curls were tied into two french braids, covered by a grey beanie. She loved the cold, it had given her a real reason to wear clothes twice her size and an endless amount of layers. She also loved snow, perhaps as much as her mother had. The beauty of the cold season was like magic, she loved it.

She tugged on her converse, tying them lazily around her ankles before running down the steps of her quiet home. Lorelai and Rory were sat on the couch, a bowl of candies between them as they zoned into the commercials playing on the tv. Molly jumped onto the couch, sitting beside her mother with a smile.

"You guys coming tonight? They're showing Mystic Pizza." Molly told them, knowing it had been one of their favorite films they could watch over and over without getting sick of.

"You girls go." Lorelai said, pushing herself up from the couch and taking the bowl of candy. "I've got a few things I need to do." The twins looked to each other, suspicious of their mother's denial of a movie night.

"Okay?" Rory mumbled, eyeing Lorelai as she walked to the kitchen. "I'll get my jacket." Rory said, and Molly nodded, both getting off the couch and going to the door. Rory quickly ran to her room, coming out seconds later with her jacket.

"We'll be back!" Molly yelled as she opened the door, "shit, one sec." Molly turned back, running to the kitchen for the container of freshly backed cookies sat on the counter.

"Have fun." Lorelai waved to Molly as she took off with the cookies. "No getting into trouble!"

"I'll try!" Molly yelled back, closing the door and following Rory down the steps. "So, it'll be me, you, Izzy and Wyatt, we should see if Lane can come." Molly said, cradling the container in her arms as she skipped towards the road.

"No use, her mom has her on total lockdown after eight." Rory responded, stuffing her hands in her pockets, slowly trailing behind her sister. "You and Wyatt are good then?"

"We're great." Molly exclaimed, slowing her fast steps to allow Rory to catch up.

"Good, I didn't like you two not talking." Rory told her, linking their arms to keep them walking at the same pace.

"You didn't?"

"Of course not, you don't seem yourself without him." Rory answered honestly, smiling to her sister who could hide her own smile.

"I guess I didn't think you payed that much attention." Molly mumbled, watching as the sunset along the rough gravel road leading into town.
