dads side

Molly skated down the busy sidewalk, Rory not far behind as they caught up to their mother walking towards the market. Molly had been giving her sister the silent treatment for three days, waiting for an apology for calling her selfish. She hadn't even thought to tell her mother or sister of the kiss shared between her and Wyatt. The only person who knew was Izzy and she was sworn to secrecy.

Things between her and the blond were awkward, a slight tension between them each time they were alone together. She tried to pretend as if it never happened, but each time she looked at him she could still feel the soft touch of his lips. Yet, they didn't dare speak of it. She wasn't ready for it.

Rory had run past her, catching up to her mothers side, "mom, can you get me a gatorade?" Molly asked, not daring to follow the two inside.

"Sure, thing-" the three turned, hearing the loud engine of a motorcycle down the street. Something unusual in their small town.

Doose walked out of the market with the noise, "damn motorcycles are a scourge."

"Yeah!" The two Lorelai's answered, Molly knowing they were thinking otherwise.

"They're loud, they're dangerous. We should ban them from town." Taylor said, Molly rolled her eyes at the man.

"Haven't you practically done that with Wyatt's dirt bike?" Molly questioned, lifting her board from the ground and holding it behind her so he wouldn't see.

"Oh, that kid shouldn't own anything with a motor." Taylor retorted, Lorelai snickering lightly as she had agreed with him. "Oh, gotta get away from that noise." Taylor grumbled as the motorcycle neared them. He ran back inside, the three left watch the unknown man find a place to park his bike.

"Kill me and bury me with that bike." Lorelai said, walking closer to the edge of the sidewalk.

"Is it a Harley?" Rory asked, Lorelai shook her head with an awestruck smile.

"That is a-" the three turned around with surprise as Wyatt walked up behind them, "2000 Indian, eighty horse power, five speed, close ratio, Andrews transmission."

"And I wanna get one." Lorelai stated as he finished.

"No!" The twins exclaimed.

"Why not?" Lorelai and Wyatt asked, both in awe over the bike.

"You'd die."

"Oh, that."

The bike finally stopped, on the corner just beside the market. The three Gilmore's turned around, not wanting to stare any longer, while Wyatt was tempted to walk up to the man and ask about the bike.

"Hey!" They heard, the twins now nervous, their mother turning back with a smile, "nice shirt! Take it off!" The man hollered to their mother, unlatching his helmet.

"Hey, man! Fuck off." Wyatt told him, not realizing he wasn't any harm to the three Gilmores.

The second the helmet was removed, Molly dropped her board, the two beside her freezing with surprise.

"Christopher." Lorelai breathed out, Molly's mind racing with confusion.

"Dad!" Rory exclaimed, running him with open arms. Molly followed slow, not nearly as enthusiastic as her sister.

"Thats.. your dad?" Wyatt asked, having never met and rarely heard of the man before then.

"Thats my dad." Molly smiled teary eyed, watching as he spun Rory in his arms.

She was scared to move from her spot, though she was somewhat happy to see her father, she feared another look of disappointment. That seemed to be all she'd gotten from her family lately.

"You gonna say hi?" Wyatt whispered, leaning over her shoulder as she stood watching her sister bounce with excitement.

"What ifβ€”"

"There's my firecracker!" Christopher exclaimed, his arms opening wide, waiting to embrace his other daughter. Molly's smile gaped, dropping her board as she ran into his arms.

"Hi, dad." She giggled into his chest, feeling the tight, comforting squeeze around her. She pulled away, his arm still holding her shoulders to his side.

"This is great! What're you doing here?" Rory asked, excitement raising in her voice.

"I'm here to see you! And you! And your mom, who's.." Lorelai stopped in front of them, her face filling with surprise and annoyance, "not saying anything as loud as a person can."

"Hello."

"A word! Huh, perhaps there's a phrase in my future." Christopher joked, his brows furrowing as he looked past the woman. "Okay, why is that man staring at me?"

"That's Taylor Doose, he owns the market. He knows all and sees all." Rory told him.

"He's also a wacko." Wyatt added, taking a hesitant step forward. Molly shook her head at the blond, hoping for him to walk away.

"And he hates me." Molly stated, trying to bring her father's attention away from Wyatt.

"Who are you?" Christopher asked the teen, Wyatt's face flushing red but he forced a smile.

"That's Wyatt Danes, he's the diner owner's son." Lorelai answered for him, Wyatt nodding vigorously at her words.

"You alright, man? Look like you're about to faint." Christopher asked the blond, who nodded once again, his eyes bouncing between him and Molly. The red heads eyes practically bulging from her head for him to go away.

"His blood sugars probably low. Molly, why don't you help him home." Lorelai insisted, patting Wyatt's shoulder.

"Ohβ€”okay." Molly stepped away from her dad, back onto the sidewalk. "Don't leave without saying goodbye?"

"Not until you show me all your favorite places!" Christopher replied, she smiled once again, picking up her board.

Lorelai pulled her into a hug, "no Wyatt with him in town." She whispered into her ear.

"Trust me, I know." Molly whispered back, linking her arm with the blond's and dragging him away.

She waited until they were a good distance before speaking, "idiot."

"Idiot? What'd I do?" He retorted, his voice squeaking as his nerves hadn't settled.

"One, choked. Two, made your presence known to my father."

"Why's that such a bad thing? You talk to my dad every day." He shrugged, she rolled her eyes at him.

"My dad is different from yours. My dad will like you, so much in fact that he willβ€”you know what? He may hate you. Which I also don't want."

"So.. you don't want him to like me? But you don't want him to hate me?" Wyatt asked dumbfounded and she nodded, "Cherry, you make less and less sense every day." He rolled his eyes, taking his arm out from hers.

"You still like me though." She retorted, pulling open the diner door for him to walk inside.

"Isn't that an understatement." He muttered, her face burning hot as she heard his quiet words.

"Luke, four coffees to-go." Molly said, leaning over the counter.

"Four?"

"Mhm."

"There's only three Gilmore's, whyβ€”"

"Her dad's in town." Wyatt stated, giving her an irritable smile as he glanced out the window.

"He is?" Luke asked, getting her the cups and a holder.

"Douche bag on the motorcycle." Molly said, Luke's mouth falling to an 'ah' expression as he poured the coffee.

"You happy to see him?" The man asked, she shrugged, "don't know?"

"I mean.. I am. It's just, I haven't seen him in a while and a lot has changed... I'm different, I don't know if he'll like me." She told him, Wyatt too occupied with tables to listen.

"He'd be an idiot not to. You're a great kid, even if you're a pain in my ass half the time." Luke gave her a sincere smile, handing over the full coffee cups.

"Thank you, Luke." She smiled, fighting back tears of tender heartache. "I just don't think Wyatt gives you enough hassle, gotta add that extra kick." She joked, taking the coffees in her hands.

"Pain in my ass!" She laughed at Luke's words as she shoved open the door, walking back towards her family as they came towards her.

"Oh, thank god." Lorelai grumbled, taking one of the coffees from the tray.

"You could thank me. Or Luke." Molly responded, Rory taking hers.

"Thank you, Molls." Rory smiled to her sister, Molly only giving her a half nod in response.

The two walked in front, Molly staying back with Christopher, handing him his cup.

"Thanks, kiddo." He smiled, she nodded, tossing the tray into the bin on the side of the building. "So.."

"So?"

"Who's the boy?" Her smile fell, staring down at her tattered converse.

"If you're talking about Tristan thenβ€”"

"Who's Tristan? I'm talking about the sickly blond."

"Wyatt? He's Luke's son, I go to school with him." It wasn't like she was lying.

"Yeah but you know him." Christopher responded, insinuating there was more to him.

"We're friends." Molly mumbled, setting down her board to get on it. "How've you been? Any girlfriends?" Molly questioned him instead, not wanting to talk any further on Wyatt.

"Any boyfriends?" He threw back the question. She nearly teared up at the thought of her response. Even though the tear's hadn't dropped, he'd still noticed. "Firecracker?" Molly shook her head, skating forward to her mother.

"Molly?" Lorelai questioned, taking notice of her saddened expression.

"Boyfriend question." Molly mumbled, Lorelai sighed with a knowing nod. She slowed as she walked, allowing Christopher to catch up to her to talk to him.

"It's been over a month." Rory insisted, not understanding how Molly had still hurt so much.

"Shut up, Rory, would you?" Molly skated faster, making it to the house before any of them could.

Molly hadn't planned anything for the day, but she hadn't had a clue what to do with her father in town. He'd come at possibly the worst time for her. With everything that had happened in the last few weeks, she was in no way prepared for her father to show up.

He'd never even been to Stars Hollow, not in her sixteen years. Him coming now felt off, like he'd wanted something. But she didn't want to have that assumption.

Walking into the house, she took her board up to her room. It had started to look like Wyatt's bedroom, something she couldn't stand to walk into. The mess she had been too lazy to clean up was growing into a pile of clothing and items she had lacked room for.

Don't let dad up here, she thought as she closed her door.

"Molls!" She heard as she hopped down the stairs, kicking her converse towards the door as she stood on the last step.

"Yeah, momma?" She asked, an innocent smile forming on her face as she saw her family stood in the kitchen. Her mother held an open can of spray paint, the red leaking from the top.

"Want to tell me why under the sink looks like Jeffrey Dahmers basement?" Lorelai asked, Molly's eyes widened, taking a step back. "What'd you do?"

"I haven't had spray paint in a while, it must've gotten old andβ€”"

"Wait, what werre you using spray paint for?" Christopher asked, she bit back a mischievous smile, moving towards him.

She stood on her toes, hand cupping over her mouth as she leaned up to his ear, "giant tits on the roof of the grocery store." She whispered, he laughed out, wide eyed at his daughter.

"I feel like I should be upset but that's too good." He said, holding up a high-five which she gratefully returned.

"No, no, don't encourage this." Lorelai shook her head, setting the spray paint into the bin.

"Oh, she's just having fun." Chris chuckled, Mollys smile fell, watching as her mother grew irritated.

"You know, I've actually gotta, um, clean my room." The red head uttered out, running back up the stairs before she'd started an argument between her parents.

She did what she said she would, sorta, half the clothes she tucked into her closet, the other forced into her laundry basket. At least then she could walk in without tripping.

As she started to put her cd's back into the box beneath her bed, a knock came from her door.

"Come in!" She called out, sorting through the cd's. The door slowly pushed open, Molly glancing up to see Ashley. "Hey, Ash." Molly smiled, tucking the box beneath her bed as the girl walked in.

"Hey." Ashley forced a smile, her nose red, eyes watering, tears threatening to fall.

"Are you okay?" Molly asked, standing up to meet her brown eyes.

"Yeahβ€”yeah." Ashley sniffled, wiping her tears, keeping her smile, "could I stay here for the night?"

"Of course." Molly stood there, not knowing what to do. It was clear Ashley was upset, though she said she was fine.

"I'm sorry, I justβ€”I didn't know where else to go." Ashley sat on the bed as she spoke, Molly hesitantly sitting beside her.

"Is it.. your dad?"

"Yeah." The brunette mumbled, staring down at her hands. "I made a comment.. about college and how I wanted to go butβ€”" she shook her head, a pained laugh left her mouth, "it was so stupid."

"You can stay here as long as you want, okay?" Molly assured her, bringing her into her arms.

"I don't want Izzy to know, please. I don't want her to worry." Ashley said, wiping the tears from her eyes, pleading for Molly to agree.

"Okay, whatever you need."

"I'm sorry if I came at a bad time, your mom was down stairs with a manβ€”"

"My dad." Molly told her, Ashley's eyes widened.

"That's your dad?" The brunette questioned, Molly nodded, "I didn't think he was.. in the picture."

"May as well not be." Molly mumbled, he was barely around anyway.

"Is he staying?"

"For tonight at least."

About a half hour later, Lorelai walked into the room, seemingly unamused. Molly smiled up at her, wandering if she'd done something wrong.

"Your dad's getting in the shower." She stated, leaning against the doorframe, her arms crossed over her chest. "You staying the night, hun?" Lorelai asked the brunette, who had already found herself comfortable in a pair of Molly's pajamas.

"Yeah. That's okay, right?"

"Course. As long as you don't sleep walk." Lorelai joked, taking a step into the room and looking around. "You girls hungry? I was thinking Chinese." The woman spoke, walking towards the closet and slowly opening it.

"He's not here, mom." Molly told her, Lorelai shrugged with a smile.

"I knew that. I was just seeing where all the clothes went." Lorelai responded, though Molly knew who she was looking for. "So, Chinese?"

"Sounds good." Molly mumbled, Ashley nodding with a sweet smile.

"Yes, please." Ashley told the woman and Lorelai smiled kindly to her. Lorelai left the room, walking back downstairs to Rory. "Does she always do that?" Ashley questioned, pointing to the cracked open closet.

"Sometimes, but usually he's actually in there." Molly answered with a slight giggle, "one time he scared her so bad she fell on her ass."

"Oh, gosh." Ashley laughed at the image, her face falling into a pained smile. "She's a good mom. She really does care about you." The brunette said, Molly nodded slightly, staring down at the shaggy green run on her floor.

"I know." Molly mumbled, laying back onto the bed. "Wanna watch a movie while we wait for food?"

β€”

"I can't believe I'm up at nine in the morning to watch a stupid softball game." Molly groaned, her hands gripping onto the coffee as she dragged her feet on the sidewalk. Ashley and Izzy were beside her, Rory and her father walking in front of them.

"I can't believe Wyatt's up at nine in the morning to play softball." Izzy retorted, her arm linked with Ashley's.

"You know, I always thought I'd make a decent softball player." Ashley stated, somehow lively and ready to cheer the team on without a drop of coffee.

"You've got the form." Izzy replied, a sheepish smile on her face.

"And I'm gonna go get some donuts while you two find somewhere to make out orβ€”"

"Weasley!" Izzy yelled out, Molly laughed, sticking her tongue out at the girl and running up to her father and sister.

"So which is your Dean?" Christopher asked Rory, Molly rolling her eyes as the brunette pointed out her boyfriend.

"That's him over there." Rory smiled, Molly hadn't bothered to look at the boy though. Her were eyes set on the blond who had already been looking at her from beneath the dugout. "And that's Luke." Rory said, pointing to the man pitching.

"That's the diner guy, right? His kids the one with the crush on Molls?" Chris asked, winking down to his red haired daughter who had been caught off gaurd by the question.

"Yes, we eat there practically every day. Especially Molly." Rory answered, not caring to deny her father's second question.

"Wyatt doesn't have a crush on me." Molly tried to say, but her father's scrunched brows said otherwise.

"Same kid who's practically making kissy faces at you as we speak?" Chris joked, waving to the blond who waved back.

"Uh.." Molly was dumbfounded, watching as Wyatt made his way to the fence. She sat down on the bleachers, beside Izzy and Ashley.

"Hey, ladies." Wyatt smirked from behind the fence, staring at the three girls.

"Hey, WD." Rory greeted him, he gave her a half nod.

"Come to watch me play?" Wyatt asked, his cocky grin taking over his red hot face.

"Actually, we came to watch your dad." Ashley retorted with a smile.

Wyatt rolled his eyes, adjusting the hat on his head, "how bout you, Cherry?" Wyatt asked, forgetting her father had been sat behind her.

"I just came to see if anyone would eat dirt." Molly responded, taking a sip of her coffee.

"Real nice, daughter you've got." Wyatt joked, looking up to Christopher.

"She's a charmer." Christopher responded with a chuckle, Molly sinking down as far as she could.

"Wyatt, quit your flirting, you're up!" Luke called out the blond, Wyatt's eyes widening as he ran back into the game.

"I like that kid." Chris mumbled with a sure nod. The three girls sat around Molly all stiffled laughs at the red heads face began to match her hair. "Why don't you date him? From what I've heard, he's hell of a lot better than that Dugrβ€”"

"From what you've heard?" Molly asked, her head turning back to glare at her sister.

"Alright, Wyatt!" Ashley cheered, interrupting the argument before it had started. Molly looked back, watching as Wyatt hit the ball into the outfield, running straight to first base.

"Aw, c'mon, Lucas you've gotta be quicker than that!" Wyatt taunted his dad from the base, Luke laughed out, shaking his head at the blond.

"Luke's smiling?" Izzy questioned the rare sight.

"Oh! Dean's coming up." Rory exclaimed, watching as Dean made his way to the home plate.

"Looks like we got out number three coming to the plate, guys!" Luke joked, teasing Dean as he walked up.

"I'd send your boys a little farther into the field, Luke." Dean retorted, his bat swinging up with his hands.

"Why? Will they have a better view of you whiffing?" Luke questioned, walking back up to the pitcher's mound.

"Oh, let me get out there then." Molly laughed lightlyc hoping to see it happen.

Dean laughed out annoyed, "you know the only way I'm not hitting it is if you don't have the strength
