Henry POV

I grabbed Lily and began to sway with her to the music through our Bluetooth speaker. The song "isn't she lovely" by Stevie wonder engulfing my ears.

Tears pricked at my eyes but I desperately blinked them away, I didn't want Lily to sense I was upset so instead I held her close towards my chest and planted a kiss on her head.

Today was the day that we find out Melanie's future; she got put into an induced coma and has been for weeks now. Lily now being chunkier in her face and little body- almost unrecognisable to the small baby Melanie held before this happened.

"Come on then Lily, let's go see mummy"
Grabbing her bag I exited our house, taking in deep breaths to suppress my nerves. I knew that seeing Melanie today as always would feel like a knife being twisted in my heart; but today especially knowing we would find out if she is brain dead is sickening.

Driving to the hospital I kept gulping back heavy amounts of saliva, it felt like my heart and brain couldn't fathom today. I wanted to curl up and disappear- being told Melanie may not be alive just swirled all different types of emotions inside of me.

We arrived so I scooped up Lily's car seat into my hand, giving her a soft kiss on the head as we made our way into the hospital. We followed the signs to intensive care and with each foot step came a wave of nausea.

My eyes finally met with Melanie's lifeless, cold and sickly appearance. "Hey Mel.. baby Lily has came today to see her mummy"

I grabbed Melanie's soft hand and squeezed it, tears now falling aimlessly out of my eyes like a never ending river. My sobs silent- trying to not bring attention on myself.

"We need you Melanie. Please tell me you're still in there" I choked, rubbing circles over her hand.

"Good morning Mr Cavill" the doctor greeted as they made their way into her hospital room.

I nodded and turned my attention to them, their name badge read 'Dr Lewis'.

"So we have some news regarding Melanie's future. Is it okay if I have some of your time ?" The doctor asked politely, his thick rimmed glasses falling to the tip of his nose.

"Yes.. that's fine" I gulped, ruffling my hair with my hand and facing the doctor directly. Lily luckily had fallen asleep in her car seat so I wouldn't have to tend to her.

"We checked her brain activity early hours of last night. I can confirm there is... activity" The doctor said with a light smile.

Instantly butterflies swarmed in my stomach and a massive gulp of saliva was heard down my throat. "S-she is going to be okay?"

"There will be a long recovery time but yes- there is brain activity Mr Cavill. We are hoping to take her out of the induced coma shortly"

Happy tears now fell from my glassy, blue eyes and a smile outstretched on my face. "T-thank you. So much" I cried "you don't understand how much I want to hug you right now"

Dr Lewis chuckled "you can hug me all you like. I'm happy to be sharing this good news with you"

Stepping up from my seat I rushed over and pulled the doctor into a massive hug, appreciation radiating off me that he had saved my wife. "Y-you don't understand how happy I am" I babbled on with my words mixing. "I thought she was dead"

"I understand Mr Cavill. This is some very important news and we are very thankful Melanie has pulled through" The doctor said earnestly. Tapping my back and pulling away. "We will keep you updated when Melanie wakes up"

Melanie POV

The trauma from everything has changed me as a person but I was trying each day to get to a happy place in my head. Henry and Lily were keeping me strong; I was just thankful to be alive. Breathing and creating new memories with my family.

"Morning sleepyhead" Henry cooed as he sat on the edge of my bed. "I made breakfast so get your lazy arse up" he joked further which made me pout.

"I'm not lazy" I retorted with a grin "but yes I'll get up for some breakfast" I sat up and stretched my back, my muscles relaxing from their tensed position prior. Henry planted a kiss on my forehead and cupped my cheeks "you're the most beautiful woman I've ever seen"

Blushing at his comment I turned away "I have messy hair- I've just woken up. Stop kidding yourself"

Henry shook his head and ran his thumb across my lips "I'm not kidding myself. You truly are the most beautiful woman I've ever seen in my life. That's why I count my blessings each day- you're also an incredible person"

Smiling profusely I grabbed Henry and pulled him in close, his warm body now shadowing over mine. "Kiss me" I asked with a blush.

Henry of course did and kissed me lightly, though I soon changed that by pulling his head close to mine and deepening the kiss.

"We.will.continue.this.later" Henry mumbled between kisses. "Lily is unattended in her baby swing" He continued, kissing my on the cheek and ruffling my hair.

Frowning I sighed "fine... later"

Both of us walked into the living room, towards the neatly set out table and chairs. It was clear that Henry had made too much effort this morning but I did love it when he went to these lengths; the perks of being married to a gentleman.

"Morning my little princess" I chimed as I picked up Lily and swung her in my arms. "Look at how cute you look" I gushed with my lip jutted out.

Henry chuckled and began dishing up breakfast which was a traditional English fry up- god I loved a fry up. "Mummy has missed so much" I sighed, wiping away the baby hairs from her forehead.

I had been home now for a month and it still felt surreal I was holding a four month old baby. She had the chunkiest little cheeks and button nose; her eyes resembling Henry's which were striking, ocean blue.

"You really have outdone yourself" I beamed, seating myself at the table with Lily on my lap. The small baby giving me a little smile and turning her head towards the bottle on the table.

"You hungry sweetheart?" I babbled, grabbing the bottle filled with formula I placed the teat to her lips which she hungrily took.

"Let me feed her, you can eat" Henry demanded as he waltzed over, his hands on his hips.

I shook my head "no! You've just made breakfast. I'll feed Lily" I lightly laughed "Besides, I've missed out on so much" I hummed, looking at her little face scrunch up against the bottle.

Henry sighed "I'm so happy I have my family back..."

I nodded weakly "it was hit or miss at one point wasn't it?"

Henry lowered his gaze "there was a very high chance you wouldn't pull through" he admitted through a strangled tone.

I smiled warmly across to him "I'm a fighter Henry. You can't get rid of me that easy" I winked jokingly which made Henry roll his eyes.

He then with my dismay took Lily out of my arms "I'll feed her. You eat up"

I couldn't protest because he was already feeding Lily, her little face wasn't too pleased from being stopped in the first place.

One year later

Lily was dressed in the most beautiful white little dress, a pink ribbon wrapped around her waist and her hair clipped into two pigtails; pink bows matching with the ribbon placed on top of her head.

Today was the day that I was getting remarried to Henry and I had dreamt of this for so long. The dress I chose was a beautiful, princess fishtail dress that had glitter scattered across the trail. My curves being enhanced effortlessly in the beautifully made gown.

"My dear you look delightful" Dorothy cried as she dabbed at her eyes. "I can't believe you're getting married"

I scoffed "nanna, I'm technically already married"

She swatted my arm playfully "you know what I mean Melanie"

Taking one last glimpse of myself in the mirror I swallowed back saliva "it doesn't feel real. I'm actually excited this time"

Dorothy placed her hand on my shoulder and looked into the same mirror I was. "That's how it's meant to be darling. You're meant to be excited marrying the person you love"

Turning me around I felt her eyes scan my body "you're truly beautiful.. your mother would of been so proud"

Smiling weakly I turned to face Lily who was grabbing at my dress "mumma"

I looked down and scooped the energetic toddler in my arms "yes baby?"

She babble talked which made me laugh and I pretended to understand her; she was now a year and 4 months so still too young to make out proper words other than mumma and dadda.

"Anyway let's not keep the poor man waiting any longer. Let's go meet your husband" Dorothy interjected which made me chuckle. Placing Lily down I grabbed her hand.

We were only having a small ceremony, only close friends and family were attending which wasn't too many. I would say around twenty people at most; I didn't have bridesmaids and Henry didn't have groomsmen.

The doors opened and with a deep breath I squeezed Lily's hand which made her bounce up and down on the spot. Dorothy was the other side to us and had her arm securely wrapped around mine.

'Can't help falling in love' by Elvis Presley began playing which meant it was time to walk down the aisle and meet my husband; my Henry. After everything we have been through this moment feels almost like a dream; a dream which I'll cherish for the rest of my life.

Still holding onto Lily's hand we made our way down the aisle. Henry turned around and when he did I saw his eyes went glassy immediately.

"Y-you look so beautiful" he croaked with a lump in his throat. "I am the luckiest man in the world" he said in disbelief.

Dorothy smiled and picked up Lily "we will see you afterwards" she winked and sat at the front.

"You look breathtaking Henry" I complimented with a blush. Henry nibbled down on his bottom lip and took my hands, rubbing circles across them. "Let's get remarried"

Because we were renewing our vows we didn't need to wait for the minister to direct us what to say- there wasn't even a minister this time around.

"From the moment I saw you, I knew you were going to change my life. Though I did dislike you at first given the fact we were placed in an arranged marriage" I spoke warmly, looking up into those adoring eyes of his.

"But after time you became my favourite person. The person who I want to see every morning when I wake up, the person who I want to see when I'm upset and the person I want to see when something good happens in my life. I want everything with you"

"Lily- she is the apple of our eyes and we really have created a beautiful life for ourselves Henry. All the hurt and trauma we have gone through together has only made us stronger" I finalised with a shaky voice. My eyes now prickling with tears.

"I love you so much. Will you remarry me?" I asked softly which made Henry curl up his lips.

"Melanie... you truly have changed my life for the better. When I almost lost you I fell into a deep depression. Though I pushed and pushed to be stronger for you and for Lily. You're the person keeping our family together and I have never fell so hard- so deeply in love with someone before. You were always destined to be my soul mate. Arranged or not"

"So my answer is yes, I will remarry you Melanie Cavill" Henry chirped with a crinkled smile. "Forever I will cherish you and protect you"

Gulping back saliva I wiped away a falling tear "forever I will cherish and protect you Henry" I repeated.

"Now come here before I lose my mind" Henry joked as he grabbed my waist and pulled me close, my body pressed up against his and his mouth meeting mine in a passionate, fiery kiss. It contained so many emotions but I soaked up every moment and enjoyed the movement of our lips dancing in sync.

Pulling away breathlessly Henry cupped my cheeks "my one and only"

"My wife..."

Laughing I looked deeply into his eyes "and my husband"

"For real this time..." I breathed, my lips fanning across his.

Henry placed his forehead against mine and nodded "for real this time"
