day 1
6.35 am
lee haru

his "place" is an old theatre

by "my place"
he means an abandoned threatre
that looks like it came out of a horror movie

we walk past the old dusty ticket booth
with the torn poster of a movie
that looks supposedly from the 90s
something i've never watched
or heard of before
just how old is this place?
and how long has it been abandoned like this?

i don't ask any questions
as we enter the theatre hall
through one of the doors at the back
instead of the main entrance
which i could see, was bombarded with wood

apparently jeongguk has a key to this place
i'm not going to question how he got it

jeongguk raises his arms in the air
and walks down the aisle
towards the front seats
right near the large stage
where it is pitch black beyond

i kind of imagine something crawling out of there
like a ghost, or a demon
this place is probably haunted
i mean, look around

i shiver at the thought of staying here
but he doesn't seem the least bit
uncomfortable
"home sweet home"
his voice bounces off the walls
of the empty theatre

"what?"

"it doesn't look like much but"
jeongguk glances back at me
i still haven't moved a foot
standing by the door reluctantly
"it's safe, no one comes here" he tells me

"there must be a reason then
this place could be haunted"

jeongguk huffs and dusts a seat
at the front row with his hand
before slumping down on it with a tired sigh
"trust me, no psycho clown's gonna
come prancing at you so
take a chill pill and get some rest"

rolling my eyes
i stumble down the aisle
while glancing around at my surroundings
senses alert and ready to run
should there be a need to

the ceilings are incredibly high
the carpets are purple and red
and by the way this place is decorated
this theatre must have looked
magnificent before it was abandoned

the only light source
is the sunlight
breaking through the holes in the walls
and some cracks in the ceiling

"hi"
jeongguk says with a smile
when i finally approach him
he's taken off his mask

"hey" i reply
twirling around to get a look at the theatre
"how long have you been living here?
i thought you were on the run"

jeongguk heaves a breath

"then why were you on the train from seoul?"

he lowers his gaze
taking a moment before replying
"there was something i had to handle"

"do you wanna talk about it?"

he looks back up at me
and a grin forms on his face
"are you sure you wanna
handle another secret?"

after a couple minutes of thinking
i decide its best to leave it as it is
after all
it's only fair for the both of us

i don't know his story
and he doesn't know mine

jeongguk sighs
"we're just two incomplete individuals
both running away from reality
aren't we?"

i take a seat beside him
and lower my gaze
"reality sucks, doesn't it?"

i guess even famous people tend to
feel that sometimes
but i can't help but wonder
why is he running away
when he could have anything
and everything
that the world can offer
"

"hey mr universe"
jeongguk shouts out, his voice echoes
"feels like you're against us"

i can't help but agree
"maybe it is"
