- I've always wondered what it was like to be lovedΒ

Third POV

Theseus stalks over to his office the next day, bright and early as ever, only to find his secretary on the floor in front of his office.

The door was flung open and he stares up only to let out the loudest scream he'd ever heard come out of his own body.

There, suspended in midair were creatures Theseus had only read about in books.

Two banshees were thrashing around, absolutely mute. No voice was coming out of their mouths. Why on earth were there banshees in his office?

For a split second he thought his secretary, Alice, was dead but after nudging her with his foot, and hearing her groan in her unconscious state, his relief was palpable.

Stalking into his office, wand raised, he dodged the banshees clawing hands of pain only to see something floating behind the two horrific creatures.

He picks up the paper and skims over the message only to groan.

"The little devils nearly gave me a heart attack! FOR STALKING THEM!" He thunders to himself.

They could've downright murdered him. A little voice in his head wouldn't shut up about their capabilities. He wanted them to become Aurors. Better them Aurors than working for Grindelwald.

If Grindelwald had both those kids on his side..... they'd lose the damn war. And Grindelwald knew it too. Probably why he tried kidnapping them the other day. Grindelwald probably didn't expect Tom and Valentine to actually manage to come seconds away from defeating him and his men in a duel.

No doubt, the next time he attacked... Credence would be fighting alongside him.

Nagini wouldn't be able to bear it.

Theseus could still hear Leta's screams in his ears late at night, as he lay beside his wife Anastasia. He adored his wife and loved his daughter with every cell in him but Leta.... Leta had been his soulmate.

You don't get over losing your other half that easily.

Theseus stares up at the banshees and sighed, conjuring a Patronus. The corporal blue hawk flies above him and soars away with his message to The Department of Regulation and Control of Magic Creatures.

They could deal with this utter madness.

He watches as the hawk flies away and sighs, the grip on his wand growing tighter. It was still the same thought. The same thing he thought of to conjure up his Patronus.

Her. Always her.

He always thought of Leta.

Abby wakes up and realizes she had been fast asleep on a couch in Aberforth's Inn. She was cuddled in Avery's arms and he draped his arms over her protectively, still asleep.

Her eyes dart around. Val was asleep on the floor with little Ariana sleeping in her arms. Ariana must've heard the noise, seen Val and decided to sleep beside her mother.

Tom slept on the couch right above Valentine. She realized that both of them were reaching out to the other unconsciously in their sleep. Her heart melts at seeing the three of them like that.

Nott was asleep on the floor by Val. He was curled up into a ball, hurling the blanket closer to him.

Aberforth has probably been too lazy to move everyone to beds.

Abby looks up at her boyfriend and smiles softly. She adored him with all her heart. He was the sweetest. However, he was only like that around her.

He considered Valentine a friend so he was nice to her, but that was it. As if anyone could ever be mean to Valentine. Tom would probably torture him to insanity that is if Valentine didn't murder him first. Avery only ever spoke to her and Val, out of her friends, sometimes Gideon if he was in an extra good mood that day.

To anyone else he just didn't speak to them. Didn't bother giving them the time of day. She had no idea why he ended up having feelings for her. She wasn't anything special. She wasn't smart like Pan, innocent or kind like Greta and she definitely wasn't anywhere near as talented or powerful as Val.

But Avery fell for her.

Not them.

And she couldn't have been happier.

Slowly, and carefully she detangles herself out of Avery's arms feeling like an acrobat as she tried to not jostle him too much.

She hops away on one foot, almost stepping on Nott to her horror.

Stumbling back she winces slightly and sits down in the huge purple one-seater, trying to catch her breath.

Waving her wand, she starts to make herself a cup of coffee. It floats over and lands into her hands the moment Tom Riddle began to wake up.

She watches in fasicanation as Tom Riddle groggily opens his eyes and looks around.

He didn't notice she was awake yet and she stares as his eyes flicker down to land on Valentine's form. The hard aggression in his eyes disappears in a second and his lips seem to twitch upwards. His eyes go to her hand that had been reaching upwards towards him in her sleep and his eyes soften even more.

He turns around and the moment he sees Abigail Diggory staring at him with the widest grin on her face, his expression goes hard.

"What are you grinning at, you daft behemoth." He raises a brow, giving her a meek once over before he steps around Valentine and Ariana, purposefully kicking Nott in the stomach.

He walks over to make his own cup of coffee.

"Just you and Val." Abby teases him.

Riddle ignores her completely, deciding she wasn't worth his time in the second she had started to speak to him.

"Arsehole." She grumbles but Tom still ignores her, moving to sit on the couch, bringing the cup to his lips to drink.

He'd washed his face, she realized.

"Wake up." Tom's annoyed voice pieces the silent room as he glared at Valentine to awaken. "We'll be late for classes." He demands in a stern voice.

"Shut the hell up Thomas." Valentine grumbles, pulling Ariana closer to her.

"YEAH! Shut the HELL UP DAD!" Ariana screeches, making Tom sigh in aggrevation.

"Why do I even bother with those two?" He asks himself a genuine look of confusion on his face.

"Maybe because you care?" Abby says in a sing song voice.

Tom doesn't even acknowledge her. "Why the hell did Avery decide to date you. You are nothing compared to the girls around him."

How the hell did Valentine deal with this boy on a daily basis? Just a couple words and she already wanted to hex the hell out of him.

This time Abby was the one to ignore him. This brings a satisfied glint to his dark eyes. pleased she had finally shut up.

Tom kicks Valentine roughly, only to receive a kick right back.

The sight makes Abby giggle.

"Abby. Don't let him insult you like that." Val yawns, sitting up and smacking Tom's knees with the back of her hand.

She gets a smack to the head in response.

"At least Abby is prettier than you." She grins and Tom looked bewildered.

"Her? Please." He scoffs. "I'm the definition of beauty." He smirks and Val rolls her eyes.

"Sure. If that helps you sleep at night Thomas." She drawls, lifting Ariana to sleep on the couch by Tom's side. Tom glares at the child, annoyed.

"Keep her on the floor." He curls his lip in disgust.

"You sit on the floor!" She snaps, blue eyes blazing, as she smoothed down her long black hair.

Tom pokes the child like she was some sort of insect.

"Leave the kid alone Riddle." Nott groans, getting up and throwing at pillow at Avery who swats it away.

Now Abby knew how Val dealt with Tom. She didn't.

She was just as quick witted as he was. She easily kept up with his keen tongue and insulted him with as much ferocity as he did.

They were a perfect match.

Even if they didn't see it yet.

"AVERY!!" Abby demands hopping on her boyfriend's form, trying to wake him up. "Wake u-AHHHHHHH!!" She screeches when he pulls her into a hug.

"Shhhh. Let me sleep babe." He groans and her heart stutters at the word of endearment.

"Stop flirting the both of you." Nott snorts and he plops down in the seat beside Tom and Ariana.

He stifles a yawn, eyes wandering over to Valentine's form. He couldn't help his staring as he gazed at the girl in fascination.

She was amazing.

In every definition of the word.

He's suddenly smacked upside the face. "Stop acting like a lovesick fool." Tom's rough voice demands. "You're way out of that disgusting girl's league anyway." He snarls, making Theodore Nott roll his eyes at his friend.

"You sure about that Riddle?" The boy gives the tense one a boyish smirk. The glare he received in response was deadly

"I HAVE A BONE TO PICK WITH YOU TWO!!" Theseus Scammander suddenly barges in, a breathless and angry look on his face. "DO YOU KNOW how much paperwork I have to do because of your stunt!!" He hisses and Valentine scoffs, moving with the grace of a ballerina to hand him a cup of coffee.

"Here." She sounded like she was trying not to laugh. "You look like you need it more than me." She chuckles, spinning away with a hearty laugh she couldn't contain anymore.

"How was your surprise Scammander?" Tom asks in a creepy tone, not staring him in the eye. Staring someone in the eye meant you respected them and Tom did not have any respect for anyone in this room right now.... except maybe the half-demon and her cousin.

Theseus glares at the fourteen year old in the corner with a scowl, hating the disrespect. "It gave my assistant a heart attack." He snaps. "She's fine now. Thanks for your concern!!" He plops down in the armchair beside the couch Avery was on.

"Kick him for me." Valentine mouths to the Auror, sitting down beside Ariana's sleeping form. The little child instantly clambers on Val's lap, sleeping more soundly in her mother's arms.

Theseus looked like he was seriously contemplating it.

"Where on earth did you two find two live banshees?" He finally asks.

"They were the creatures sent to kill us this time." Valentine muses, sipping her coffee, running her other hand through Ariana's golden locks.

"Kill you!?" Theseus demands, eyes going wide in his shock. "Why are people always trying to kill you two!?" He huffs and looked exhausted.

"Like Hell if I know." Valentine snorts.

"You must have some clue." Newt suddenly appears out of nowhere, making Abby screech in surprise.

Everyone turns to glare at the girl.

"WHAT!? He came out of nowhere!" She hisses. She was still entrapped in a sleeping Avery's arms.

"Axton wake up." Tom's cool voice orders. It was like a bucket of water had been dumped on the poor boy. Because he leaps up, glaring at Tom.

"Don't call me that!?" He scowls, only to have Theseus actually kick him off the couch.

Valentine and Abby both burst into giggles.

"Why are you here?" Nott questions, back from getting his own cup of coffee.

"I've just returned from examining two banshees. Why do you think I'm here?" The red-haired man asks in exasperation. "And who the hell took out those poor things vocal chords?!" He demands, growing angry.

"Would you rather all of Hogwarts have died?" Tom gives the man a mocking once over.

Newt rolls his eyes and sighs. "So it was you?" He asks.

"I neither agree nor disagree."

"HE RIPPED THEIR VOCAL CHORDS OUT WITH ONE HAND!!!" Abby screeches.

"For gods sake Abigail shut up!" Valentine glares at her friend.

"He saved your miserable life didn't he!?" Nott scowls at the girl.

"Val saved my life actually." She huffs, crossing her arms. Avery was still pouting on the floor, but he reaches up to give his girlfriend a loving tap on her leg.

"By having her arm almost clawed out in the process." Tom muses, sipping his warm drink nonchalantly.

"Wait what did you do Val?" Theseus asks, rubbing his forehead irritable.

"She choked the living daylights out of one banshee, and constricted her vocal chords so she couldn't scream and kill us all."

Tom waves a hand in Abigail's direction and her mouth is instantly stitched closed. Her muffled shrieks of terror were the only things we could hear now.

"HEY!" Avery snaps, staring at Abby in worry.

"She was pissing us off." Nott shrugs. "At least she's quiet now." He scowls.

"Reverse the spell Thomas or I will." Valentine rolls her eyes, annoyed.

"Like hell I will."

"Okay. OKAY!" Theseus stops our arguing. "So let me get this straight.... You-" He points at Tom. "-ripped out both those banshee's vocal chords?" He asks Tom who shrugs without a care in the world.

"And You-" Newt points at Valentine, continuing off from his brother. "Choked them half to insanity." Newt demands staring at Valentine, who smiles mysteriously.

"I wasn't going to let that arsehole win and kill us." She demands.

"Who is this arsehole anyways!?" Theseus snaps.

"I mean they almost poisoned Val with Acromenta venom, sent those mountain trolls on the school and an army of werewolves just to dispose of the two of them." Nott scoffs.

Theseus's face goes dark. "They went through all that?" He grumbles. "Kids...Children... sick psycho." He grumbles.

"Coming from the man who stalked them for months." Newt scoffs.

"HEY! I was concerned!" Theseus tries to defend himself. Everyone in the room gives him a deadpanned look.

"Yeah sure brother." Newt laughs. "Don't you all have classes soon?" The redhead, asks concerned and Nott shurgs.

"Half an hour. Tom and Val can just apparate us there." He answers.

"I love how you all take advantage of us." Val rolls her eyes with a smile, moving to perch herself on the couch arm right by Tom.

Unconsciously, Tom moves his arm to make room for her and then places it on her leg, using her as an armrest.

Watching them laughing and happy puts a delighted smile on Aberforth's face before he climbs down the stairs to kick them all out.

"Never tell the truth to people who are not worthy of it."
