I got in the car going to T-y school forgetting he did half days .

I sped down the road tryna make sure I picked him up on time before a police car was in sight and I slowed down .

Once I made it in the school I rushed in seeing him standing there eating candy .

After I checked him out we left out walking back to the car . "Who gave you some candy?"

"My teacher." He said as he got in the front seat .

"You must've been being good today , what color was you on?"

"Purple , I almost made it to pink but I leave early."

"Wait , pink?"

"It's pink , purple , green , yellow , orange , red."

"Oh so pink is at the top?"

"Mhm." He nodded . "Daddy home?"

"No." I mumbled not wanting to tell him the news I got this morning .

"Huh?"

"No but he will be soon." I reassured him .

When I went up there this morning , they said he was getting worse so they're not letting him walk around as much , he has to lay there and be treated .

He looked miserable up there and I couldn't stand to see him like that but he always kept a smile on his face and he sat and talked about his nurse the entire time .

"Can we get some McDonald's?"

"I got pizza right before I left , it's in there and it's hot."

"That's even better." He nodded . "I gotta go home if daddy still ain't out by Monday?"

"Yea cause you can't stay home by yourself but I'll come get you every other day and to drop you off at school and then you can stay the weekends as long as Tameika fine with it."

"She don't want me there anyway." He shrugged .

When I was younger , I hated talking about my mama and her situation so I didn't even bother to ask T-y cause he emotional when it comes to talking about her .

"Whenever you ready to talk about it , let me know okay? I'm not gone force you to talk about it."

"Mhm."

I could tell T-y was going in the wrong path , I was tryna avoid it by showing him the good in life but I don't think he cares about it or understands yet so only my daddy can change him now .

"What you wanna be when you grow up?" I asked .

"I just wanna make alottt of money." He smiled .

"By doing what?"

"How daddy make a lot of money?"

"You gotta ask him that , you wanna own yo own barbershop? Or be a chef?"

"That sound boring." He said as I unlocked the door .

"It's not boring." I laughed , get yo homework out , I'll warm yo pizza back up and get you some juice .

"Can I change out this uniform?" He rugged at his shirt .

"Yea and go pee , stop dancing."

He walked off going to the bathroom and I took the pizza out the box before putting it in the microwave for a couple seconds , I put both slices on the plate before grabbing his placemat and setting it on the table and the plate on top of it .

Once he finally got done he came out with a beater and some basketball shorts .

"It's cold in here and you barely dressed."

"I was hot." He sat down touching the pizza . "Ow." He mumbled .

I grabbed his homework folder and his workbook turning to the page he had to do before setting his juice beside him .

"You can eat first or do the work first it don't matter." I said as I cleaned the kitchen .

"Ima eat." He grabbed the pizza .

I moved the stuff off the counters before grabbing the bleach spray and spraying the counters down and wiping them . I put all the stuff that didn't belong on the counter away before turning to the couple dishes in the sink and washing them .

I washed and them and dried them then proceeded to put them away before hearing a knock at the door .

I looked out the peephole seeing Myona all in the way before laughing and opening it.

"Heeyyy." She just walked in and she took her shoes off sitting a bag down .

"Heyyy." I hugged her and looked at the bag ." What's that?" I pointed .

"My mama and daddy kicked me out talking bout I need to get on my feet and some other stuff when I got a whole job and saving money for an apartment. They know this but they got Marion in there everyday with a whole house just sitting on his ass." She sat down . "They be playing favoritism with him and Laya , I'm just tryna find somewhere to go. I don't wanna ask Bouka cause Gleesh already stay there and his sister comes sometimes , that's too much."

"You can definitely stay here , I'm finna move out anyway , this place just called me . It's a two bedroom , we can go half on the rent." I shrugged .

"For real?"

"Mhm."

"Wassup ex girlfriend." T-y turned around nodding at Myona .

"Nope you for the streets."

"No the streets is for me." He corrected her . "They call everyday but I want you."

"You is too grown." She laughed . "I'm sorry for invading y'all space though , I'll stay tonight and get a hotel tomorrow."

"Girl bye , go put your stuff in my room . You staying here , don't you start school Monday too?"

"Same college , yup." She nodded grabbing her duffel bag .

"Even better." I cleaned the stove top off .

"Can you help me?" He asked Myona.

"Yea what you need help with?"

"Main idea." He huffed . "I don't know why she always wanna give me this hard stuff."

"You read the thingy already?" She asked and I sat on the other side of T-y.

"Yea."

"What's it about?"

"A girl that's trying to find a right pet."

"That's the answer T-y." I laughed.

"Right." Myona said .

"Oh , it's that easy?"

"Yea." She laughed grabbing his pencil and giving it to him and he wrote it down .

"Okay it say 'What is the main char-' what that say?" He pointed to the word .

"Character." Me and Myona said in usion.

"Oh , 'What is the main characters name?' Oh , Mya." He said and wrote it down . "Sound like Myona , that could be a sign."

"Give it up T-y." I laughed .

"You know I only want you." He looked at her .

"Boy what grade are you in?"

"First but that don't matter baby I'm grown."

Me and Myona laughed uncontrollably before he just start shaking his head .

"I'm for real." He said as he looked at the next question . "Okay stop laughing and help me."

"Okay , what's the next question?" Myona laughed .

"Um , 'What pet did Mya first want?' Uhh , I don't know." He flipped back to the page before it .

"Start right here." I pointed finding the answer.

"A fish." He flipped back going to the question.

"Moveee Myona." I laughed .

"I'm scared." She held me while it thundered.

We was all in the living room watching a movie as it rained outside .

A loud bang sounded off at the door and I answered it seeing Kaior , Bouka , Gleesh and Savion .

They rushed all in at the same time looking like a bunch of wet dogs and I frowned shutting the door .

"Where y'all come from?"

"Man Bouka stupid ass car just broke down in the middle of the street and the streets is flooding . You was the closest house , we banged on the wrong door before we figured out the right house." Savion said .

"My car in the garage." I looked outside seeing the streets really was flooding .

"Don't do that." Bouka mumbled. "The water just caught up with my car ."

"You got a t-shirt Face?" Kaior asked taking his wet one off .

"Yea." I nodded going to my room grabbing one of my oversized white t-shirts I had .

"What nigga shirt this is?" He held it up.

"It's mine." I laughed . "I just get them."

"I need one." Gleesh , Bouka and Savion all said .

I went back to my room and grabbed them all shirts and giving them one .

"So how y'all getting home?" T-y asked . "Especially you". He pointed at Bouka . "Cause every time I get some alone time with my girl , here you come."

"Shut the hell up." He laughed sitting next to Myona putting his head on her .

"We can't even get home till this shit stop , what time is it?"

"6:32." I checked my phone sitting on the couch .

"Move over." Gleesh said and I scrunched my face up scooting over .

"All the room on this couch and you choose to sit right here." I mumbled .

"Shut the hell up , I'm cold as hell and you got the cover."

"T-y got some cover." I pointed to him on the other side of the couch .

"T-y sharing his cover with me." Kaior said .

"Sshhhh I'm tryna watch the movie." Myona said .

"Girl fuck you." Savion said before the room fell silent as the scary movie played .
