"I have to admit I was surprised, Ryuga. I'd never thought you'd ask me to play tennis as a way to know each other," Light said. "Is it a problem?" Ryuga asked.

"Not at all but when you first invited me to play, did you know how good I was?" The brunette teased. (Y/n) grinned as she sat on the bench. "Tell me who wins, imma prank call people," She said, a mischievous look on her face.

After the match, (Y/n) walked with the two looking around and at her feet. "Just as I expected, you beat me," Ryuga said.

"It's been a while since I had to play that hard.Β  I'm feeling kinda thirsty, plus there's something I wanted to ask you about. You two wanna go somewhere for a drink?" Light explained.

"You humored me with the tennis match, the least I can do is answer some of your questions. But before this conversation goes on further there's something I want to tell you too," Ryuga or otherwise known as L said.

"Huh me too?" (Y/n) asked. "I suspect that you, Light Yagami, are Kira. I used to suspect (Y/n), somehow smart after skipping school and classes. Rarely bullied but a little push can shove someone to darkness. Now if you still want to ask me something then please go ahead." L said.

"How do you know my name…" (Y/n) muttered. "Well that's simple, I am in fact L," The black haired man said. "Wha-" "Ha! You think I'm Kira?" Light cut her off.

"When I say I suspect you it's only a %1 possibility. With that aside, once I make sure you aren't Kira, I'd like nothing more than to have you both work with me on this investigation," L said.

"Eh? Why me?" (Y/n) asked. "Well if your deductive skills are as good as they say I want you to join the Kira investigation," The dark haired man explained.

The trio soon arrived at a coffee shop. They took a seat in a dark corner. "This coffee shop is one of my favorites. And if we sit here there's no chance of any one overhearing us," Light said.

"They got good coffee~" (Y/n) hummed, bringing the cup to her lips. "Thanks for showing me this place, I can see why you like it," L commented.

"We're so out of the way, no one's going to give you a hard time about the way you sit," The brunette explained. "I don't sit like this because I want to, I do it because I have to," The dark haired man explained.

"Is it because of some detective thing or something?" (Y/n) asked. "Yes, if I were to sit normally my deductive skills would get reduced by roughly %40," He answered.

"Oh Light, what was it you wanted to ask me?" L asked. "Oh right, I'm sure that can wait until you believe I'm not Kira, so please let's talk about whatever you want to," Light insisted.

(Y/n) stared at her almost empty cup of coffee. 'Shouldn't have drank most of it, gosh dammit!' She cursed in her head.

"You have no obligation to do this but do you two mind submitting yourself to test your deductive detective skills?" L asked. "Sure why not?" The brunette responded.

The black eyed male looked over to (Y/n), awaiting her answer. "I wouldn't mind!" She grinned, taking the last sips of her coffee.

"Alright then take a look at these," He said. He took out a few slips of paper from his pocket. "Photographs of three notes by inmates while under Kira's control just prior to their deaths. None of this information has been made public. You can take as long as you'd like to look them over. Please let me know what you think," Ryuzaki elaborated.

(Y/n) was the first to pick one up and stare intensely at it. Her (e/c) eyes gazed over it as she put it back down. (Y/n) sighed as she leaned back and closed her eyes. 'I'll pretend like I know!' She planned.

Light took a look picking them all up at once unlike (Y/n). "Very interesting…" He hummed. "It would be cool to know Kira could not only kill people but also control their actions, I think Kira wrote these and put a message for you as well," The brunette concluded.

"If you line these notes up next to each other side by side and take a look at the first letter in each line it reveals a message, rearranging it like this gives you-" "L do you know, gods of death loves apples? But there are obviously print numbers on the back, arrange it in that order by number and you get, 'L do you know, love apples gods of death' it sounds weird," (Y/n) elaborated, cutting Light off.

"That's incorrect, the thing is there are actually 4 photographs. When we add this one it reads, 'L do you know, did you know gods of death who love apples have red hands?'" L said.

"But having 3 photographs to work with our deductive work was great!" Light complained. "No it wasn't, the truth is there were actually 4 of them. If you figured that out it would've been perfect," The dark haired man mumbled.

"That's obviously because the fourth is fake! The writing is different on the fourth than the rest. You probably wrote it, didn't you?" (Y/n) divulged.

"No, why would you think that," L lied. "Mhmm," (Y/n) hummed. "If you were me facing someone who might be Kira, how would you go about establishing this person's innocence or guilt if you need to be absolutely sure?" L questioned.

"I would probably get him to say something that was never made public, something only Kira would know." Light explained. "Kinda like he was doing just now?" (Y/n) assumed.

"Truly incredible, the thing is I asked countless detectives that same question and it took most of them minutes to even come up with an answer. But you, you immediately thought of a scenario where Kira is speaking directly to the investigator. I'm impressed, you'll both make fine detectives, Light, (Y/n)," The black eyed male mentioned.

"But it's a bit of a double edged sword, the more impressive my answers, the more suspicious I am right?" The brunette acknowledged. "Yes, about %3 now. As for (Y/n) maybe %0.3. However, that made me more determined to work on this case with you two. You see, even if you are Kira it'll still be to my benefit to have you working alongside us. You know why I say that?" L explained.

"If I cooperate with you there's a chance the investigation will move forward. And if I'm Kira I might reveal myself," Light said. "So whether i'm Kira or not you stand to gain either way? It's a very smart move but yes I have an interest in the Kira case and detective work is a hobby of mine, but I know I'm not Kira. And I certainly don't want to be killed by him, besides, what proof do you have that you yourself aren't Kira?" He alluded.

"It hardly seems unfair that only us two are getting investigated, wouldn't ya say? " (Y/n) chimed in, currently sticking sugar on her tongue. "At this point neither of us can prove we're not Kira but if you are L I can't believe it'll be hard for you to prove it. I think it'll be good if someone like my father or someone from the task force was able to prove who you say you are. If you can't I'm afraid that'll I won't be able to help you," Light said.

"I didn't say you couldn't interact with anyone from task force headquarters to verify my identity. I'm currently working alongside your father and other detectives," L said.

"So what you both are saying if you, L, were to take Light to the task force headquarters you'll work with him, Light?" (Y/n) confirmed. 'Yeah,I'll pretend like I have a clue what's going on,' She thought.

Both Light and L's phone started ringing as they both answered it. (Y/n) didn't get one but instead kept stacking sugar in her tongue.

"Light it's your-" "My father he had a heart attack," Light said, finishing L's sentence. (Y/n) immediately coughed and choked on the sugar inside her mouth. "WHAT?!"

Author here again...the main story that really includes the whole 'your existence' thing is during chapter 8? It's a bit confusing but bear with me ΰ²₯β€Ώΰ²₯
