As soon as we got into the car it begins to rain. The kind of rain that made me usually feel extremely depressed. I hated how it made the sky darken completely, it just seemed eerie.

"I hate rain," I say out loud as I glance out the window watching the rain drip down leaving wet trails.

"Well sweetie, it's supposed to rain for the most part of the week," my mother responds.

I glance at her through her rear view mirror; she looks back up at me. She gives me a quick smile then returns her attention back to the road.

I sigh and look back out the window, returning my attention back to the raindrops.

I feel a hand slip into mine causing me to be momentarily surprised.

Now I remember why I didn't feel so dressed about the weather.

I smile and look over at Draco who was sitting beside me.

"Rain isn't all that bad," he says to me.

"I was hoping for good weather, unlike you we don't have that much to do inside the house. No games, no pool, nothing," I reply to him.

He lets my hand go causing me to look up at him. He then reaches up and brushes my hair back.

He lowers his head down and I could feel his breath against my neck, "I know lots of things we can do inside," he whispers to me.

I felt heat flush my face at his implication. I turn my head to look at him, "You're awful," I say as I nudge my shoulder against his.

"I was just merely suggesting a way to occupy your time while it's raining outside," he states innocently.

"Yeah, occupy my time," I repeat sarcastically.

He leans back in to me, "I didn't say I wouldn't enjoy helping you out."

"Draco," I say at yet another insinuation of his, "You're so perverted."

That causes him to laugh. I shake my head and glance up towards my mother.

She was looking at us through her rearview mirror curiously.

When her eyes meet mine she quickly looks back towards the road.

I suddenly feel nervous, what if she heard what we were saying.

I grab Draco's sleeve and pull him back to me where I could whisper something to him.

"You might want to watch what you say, I think someone is listening in," I tell him.

He looks up towards my mother realizing what I was saying. He then nods, "Yeah, I forgot."

We then fall into silence for the rest of the way which was only now a matter of minutes.

Once we finally arrive at my house we get out and open the trunk. I begin getting my few bags that I had brought home for the week out.

"Mil, come get Draco's luggage," my mother says to the little house elf that met us at the car. The little creature nods its head vigorously and comes running over to us.

"I will take that for you sir," Mil says to Draco. He then turns his head to me, "Leianna, nice to see you again," he greets me with an all too adorable smile.

"Nice to see you again Mil, how was the house without me?" I ask as we begin walking towards the house.

"Rather quiet actually," he replies with yet another smile appearing on his little face, "but not as fun."

I laugh lightly, "Very funny," I say to him, "You better poof that up to the room, I will talk to you later," I add as I pint to the luggage he was carrying. He nods and then disappears from my side.

I loved that elf, I had known him most of my life. He was the houself we had when my father was still alive.

"That was... interesting," I hear Draco state from my other side. I look over at him questionably, "What exactly?" I had no idea what he could have found interesting.

"You treat your house elves like equals," he states, "I find that fascinating."

I squench my face, "What's so wrong with that?" I ask him.
"I treat them with respect, they do all the work for us therefore they deserve to be treated as more than just a slave Draco," I continue.

He looks intrigued with my outburst, "Calm yourself love," he says as he wraps his arm around my waist.

He then pulls me lightly towards him, "You just always seize to amaze me, that's all."

"Yeah, sure," I reply flatly. Of course he would see that as odd, to treat a house elf, someone that is suppose to work for us as an individual. He was raised to see them as scum and nothing more.

"Are you two coming?" my mother says from the doorway.

I look up, I had completely forgotten about her.

We pick up our speed, "Now come on, dinner will be ready soon," she says as she ushers us inside.

We walk inside and take a look at the house I have been in for years. It was amazing how far my mother would go to impress someone. She must have had the house elves working their butts off to make the place look this clean.

"Wow mom, you really cleaned up," I say to her as I began taking my coat off.

"Oh Leianna, you know I always have the house clean," she says walking away from us and towards the kitchen.

I roll my eyes out of instinct, "Yeah mom, sure," I mumble.

I shrug my coat off and hang it on the rack. Draco from beside me does the same with his.

"Leianna," I hear her yell from the kitchen, "Be a dear and show Draco to his room."

I didn't understand her; I had no clue which room she wanted him to stay in.

"Which one mom?"I ask her.

"The one next to your room," she replies as she peeks at me from the corner of the doorway.

I almost stumble, there were at least four extra rooms in other parts of the house and she allows him to stay in the room next to mine.

I mean I wasn't going to argue, I was thrilled about it actually.

"Come on," I say to him as I reach out to take his hand.

I lead him up the stairs and down the hallway that leads towards my room.

My mother had really changed the place since I had seen it last. She had bought new rugs and had put up more elegant curtains, I was amazed. Perhaps it was because she was ready for a change, or perhaps that she is expecting a lot more company from higher class people... who knows.

I decide to play it off as she did it for Draco, "Mom is really going out of her way," I say to start a conversation. I didn't like the silence between us.

"What makes you say that?" he asks me.

"This is a whole new suit of décor," I reply pointing to some pieces.

"Perhaps she just wanted to try something new," he states, "I rather like this piece," he says eyeing a picture on the wall.

It was a portrait of a young girl looking out the window. I smile knowing more about the picture.

"Actually that isn't new," I state as I reach out and touch the painting.

"My father painted this," I explain. "It was of what he imagined me to look like when I was a little older."

Of course it didn't look at me; the girl had blonde hair and looked more fragile.

"Did you never know your father?" he asks me.

"No, he died in the first war, my mother was still pregnant," I reply to him. I look over at him and he had a sad expression on his face.

"But mom married John after the way and he has been somewhat like my father," I add.

"But still wouldn't you have like to meet him?" he asks me

"Of course I would," I state as a matter of fact.

"How did he die though," he asks me.

"He died because he said he wouldn't be in Voldemort's Army," I tell him, "Mom said she told him he should just so that we could be safe but he refused," I add with a heavy sigh, "He killed my father but left my mother untouched. She said it was because he felt she had allied herself with the army."

I felt a surge of betrayal for my father shoot through me. The memory of my mother telling me the story reminded me why I found it hard sometimes to be close with her.

"So your mother was on Voldemort's side?" he asks me.

"Not exactly," I state, "She was more on the side that would result in her living."

"Oh, I see," he says, "but her decision is the reason you're here."

That caused me to be taken back. I had never thought of it that way before. If she had refused him he would have killed her, along with me too.

"Leianna," Draco says noticing I spaced out.

"Oh sorry, I was just lost in thought. I never looked at it that way before." I tell him.

He seemed edgy for a reason now, "Draco, are you ok?"

"So did you think badly of her for being on Voldemort's side, even if she really had no choice?"

I eye him wondering why he was asking me this.

"I guess I did," I reply, "I just don't want me or my family being on the bad side when Voldemort makes another attack."

"What did you just say?" he asks me with.

Realization hits me like a ton of bricks at what I had said.

"I was just stating, you have heard the rumors," I decide to play it off as nothing.

Draco still doesn't look completely convinced, "Have you been talking to Potter Leianna?" he asks me.

I didn't know how to respond, I had to be real careful with this.

"Draco, I have talked to a lot of people, and yes I overheard him saying stuff to other students. Why is it so wrong?" I state and ask him.

"I just... it was nothing," he replies, "I just don't want you worrying about the Dark Lord," he adds.

"Well that is something to worry about Draco," I state, "If he comes back we need to be ready for it."

Unexpectedly Draco reaches out and grabs me almost scaring me at the suddenness.

"You have nothing to worry about, I will do whatever it takes to protect you," he tells me looking me dead in the eyes, "I promise you that."

I just stare at him. Something about this conversation had unnerved him but I didn't dare question it just yet. I needed this conversation to drop, I would hate if things got said that might result in me losing my life.

"Come on, I'll show you your room," I tell him as I reach up and unclasp his hands from my shoulder.

I squeeze them tightly then I lead him down the hallway towards the room he would be staying in.
