Before dawn broke, Evan had woken up from his little slumber of exhaustion. Since then, he had dedicated himself in memorizing every nook and corner, moles and freckles... and everything that was this woman sleeping beside him. Ramona.
He dragged one finger lightly down the side of her face and smiled himself watching at the smile that appeared on her lips. She moaned at the disturbance and a second after, went back to the state of deep sleep again.
Last night had been a splendidly mind boggling one. Their love making last night wasn't like that wild sex they had at that stormy night in a shabby motel. It was more of like their souls were binding together last night. Love, they made love!
A smile and a frown formed at the same time on his face at that thought.
Ramona stirred in sleep, rolling to her side she pushed herself deeper into his arms. At her action, Evan had this urge to snuggle his face into the crook of her neck so that he could inhale her intoxicating scent. But he refrained himself from doing so. In stead, he leaned back just a little with his head propped up on his elbow. It was insane how much he was enjoying just lying there and watching her as she slept, as she dreamed. Evan wondered, what she was dreaming? Was she dreaming of him? Or something... or someone else? If he had a way to peek into her mind and find out about that dream which just made her nose twitch and smile like that.
This moment, right here with her seemed perfect. It seemed like it was meant to be.
"You're staring." Ramona stated with her eyes still closed.
Evan raised a brow. "And you're awake."
She pushed her face in his chest and inhaled a lungful of his scent. Apparently, she had found out something that was more addictive than alcohol. She didn't even need to go to the rehab counsellings anymore if she had a lots of 'last nights' stored in to relish from now on.
Ramona recalled every second of how Evan loved on her. It felt so deep, therapeutic to her mind, body and soul. As he kept kissing her scars, she could almost see in her mind that she was healing. The hurt, the pain, the internal - emotional burn she had been living with for so long had slowly dissipated.
"Why're you crying? I didn't hurt you, did I?"
Evan's worry clad voice made her realize that she was crying. She shook her head into negative while Evan wiped her wet face with the side of her hand. Another action of this man that melted her already mushy heart.
"It felt like magic to me last night." She said exactly what she felt. It was amusing how around Evan, she had been always acting like a dumb cow every now and then since when he arrived in the town. He was meant to break down her walls, it was just natural.
Evan chuckled. The vibration of his chest against her cheek made her tremble.
"Which part? When you were moaning, when you were crying or when you were screaming?" He teased her with a slow smirk.
Ramona froze. She had been extremely loud. Like a crazy hyena. Had Julius and Oliver heard? Damn! The way she'd been, she was sure even the neighbors could hear her orgasming. And one of the neighborhood was her own house! Harry! Sylvester! God damn it!
Evan chuckled again as Ramona groaned in embarrassment. But soon she began laughing with him too. And she realized she had laughed like this, so freely, after so damn long.

Evan placed a plateful of pancakes before Ramona and glared at her playfully when she whined. "You're finishing all this." Saying so he leaned down to steal another kiss from her irresistible pouting lips.
Someone cleared their throat. And then that someone had to clear throat again, louder this time.
With a groan Evan pulled back to find Oliver pinning them with a look that was something between 'what the heck' and 'finally'.
"How do you always manage to interrupt us in this kind of situations?" Evan sighed with an amused look. He sat down beside Ramona and dragged his own plate of pancakes.
Oliver strolled leisurely to the table and picked up an apple to bite on it noisily. "Lucky timing, I guess. But you know what? I really appreciate that you have the decency this time to put Julius out of your gross sessions."
"About gross sessions, you trying to make a baby under a willow tree with public watching had crossed all limits of gross. With others in the party I, Brandan, Emma and Elli... we were quite awestruck at your pounding skills actually. I still thank the heavens that I remembered to cover Julius's innocent eyes." Evan scrunched his face at the memory of that night after Brandan and Emma's house-warming party.
It took a minute for Oliver to catch on which incident Evan was speaking about. And when he did, he had the decency to look embarrassed.Oliver tried providing an excuse for his action while scratching his head. "Well. Uh... I was drunk, okay. And I agree that was pretty stupid of me but that lady was asking for it.... WAIT... did you just say Elli was watching me...?" He looked quite horrified at the end.
Evan just raised his both eyebrows in resignation and scoffed while Ramona sat wide eyed. They had breakfast after that with an heavy, awkward silence from Oliver as he watched from the corner of his eyes Evan and Ramona kept fussing over each other. Oliver looked deflated at the sight of the growing bond between Evan and Ramona. It wasn't like he was unhappy about their forming relationship that would soon hopefully be official, he was just feeling... jealous?? Of what they had or was about to have clearly, inevitably and he hadn't. No hope for Oliver?
When Oliver was about to get up from his chair, Evan turned to look at him with a sigh. "Most of Emma and Brandan's mutual friends are supposed to be in their wedding, you know that?"
"Why're telling me that?" Oliver was confused at the way Evan was looking at him in that meaningful way. He gasped after a while, finally getting what was the hint behind Evan's words. Elli was Emma's best friend! How could he be so stupid?
"I should begin packing then!" Oliver squeaked, out of breath. "Looks like I'll be the earliest arrived guest to the wedding."
Ramona who was gathering the plates to wash them, waggled her finger at Oliver. "Oh no. The famous yearly summer fair of our town starts from tomorrow. No one's allowed to leave this town without attending this huge summer celebration of ours." Her tone was deadly serious keeping no room for any argument.
Oliver eyed at Evan pleadingly. But Evan just shrugged at his dejected expression.

"...as soon as the three months of the Prince's enchantment were over, he ceased to be an eagle and became once more a man, and they returned home together. And then they lived happily, and we who hear the story are happier still." Evan closed the book of tales and watched Julius's eyes droop close as Ramona rocked the boy back and forth in her lap.
He was sitting on a sofa by the armchair Ramona had Julius as his child listened to his father telling him bedtime tale like every night.
Lightly, Ramona brushed away the hair falling on Julius's forehead. And Evan watched fascinated how natural this scene seemed, how heavenly. He longed to have this permanent before his eyes... and his life.
"Is the big - bad - insane neighbor of mine going to cry now?"
When Evan heard Ramona's voice he noticed three things all at once. Ramona had Julius in his crib already, she was now looking at him in amusement and slight worry... and last - he had his eyes moist.
Heights of embarrassment!
Clearing his throat Evan looked away and blinked. "Why would I do that, Ramona? Don't be silly."
Ramona sighed softly and cupped his face with one hand the next moment, her other hand rubbed on his shoulder. Instinctively, Evan wrapped one hand around her waist and drew her close to him. He missed holding her with both hands as his one hand was still hanging in a sling.
"Evan?"
It was hard, impossible for him to not meet her insistent eyes and give in. Since the beginning, this woman had been very successful landing his ass flat on the ground and have him defeated... something very few had been capable of doing.
"It's just..." His voice croaked. "... Julius's never got to be held by his own mother, ever. And watching you with him like that, it's like a miracle."
He just said a tiny part of what he was feeling because the whole lot of his feelings, emotions right now were impossible to put into words. To make things worse, he knew how he was never good with words.
Ramona glanced at Julius with love and adoration for a moment before she turned her face again to look at him. "It's a miracle, to me as well, Evan. I'm a mother who never got to hold her child. It makes the hole in my heart close whenever I hold him in my arms, the hole that created at the loss of my unborn baby."
A tear rolled down her eye. Evan didn't wipe it, his own eyes were giving away now his heart's condition as one of his own tears leaked and rolled down.
At that moment holding each other so close, looking into one another's unveiled eyes they knew that Evan was equally being healed himself while healing Ramona.

My health condition recently is not well, friends. And that's why the updates are coming slower. Sorry for that. Hopefully I'll be back into my regular speed of uploading soon and know that I'm trying my best because it's hard for me to keep away from you lovely friends and readers.. and especially from writing.
This chapter might seem to be a filler chapter but even the blankest things have potentials to build pillars for what will be the future. The summer fair is going to be an occasion I'm looking forward to write. ;) That wink says a lot! What I can say for now that the story has reached it's final stage, evil will resurface now. I apologize to take so long to bring this moment but the wait was needed.
