When every now and then, this abnormality of his heart made it very clear that it was not going to stay dormant anymore Evan got to the conclusion suddenly - he was in trouble. And this cause of his trouble now was asleep by his side, on his single-hospital bed. Evan was a big man and her lying beside him didn't give him any space to move away, not even an inch. It's not like he was interested in moving away from this serene creature, anyway.

Sylvester walked in the room to halt in his steps by the sight before him. He did a double take. Evan and Ramona snuggled up together gave him a picture of a couple - deep in love... attempting to seek comfort from each other.

"Evan." He whispered trying to get the man's attention who seemed to be drowned way beyond looking at the face pressed against his shoulder.

It took took two more tries for Sylvester to have Evan snap out of it. Sylvester smirked knowingly when Evan looked embarrassed and tried to hide it.

"Is Harry here in the hospital?" Evan asked after a couple of seconds.

Sylvester stood by the bed eyeing Ramona with concern. "Yep. He's getting lessons from Oliver about How to ask the cute nurse on a date. The man is like a love guru in a wheel chair guaranteeing success of his services. Julius's with them too, apparently your son's Oliver's new student."

Evan made a mental note to have a very serious talk with Oliver later. The guy needed to back off a little from his social duties, apart from saving his own self from drunk drivings that led to deadly accidents now Evan had to save his son from Oliver's lessons as well.

"When Ramona wakes up, tell him to take his sister and my son home. I need to have a few words with you." Evan said, his face depicted seriousness.

Sylvester had an inkling idea of what Evan was going to talk to him about. Evan's face, that anger shimmering behind his pupils didn't get unnoticed by him. He could tell that Evan knew all about Ramona.

Sylvester just nodded at Evan and watched as Ramona stirred a little.

"If that bastard is in the jail then how can he be chasing Ramona just this morning?" Evan was standing in front of the window, he had his body weight leaned against the wooden frame.

Sylvester gazed at the very angry looking man before him and pinched the breeze of his nose. "Have you seen him chasing Ramona, Evan?"

Turning around to face Sylvester, Evan shook his head. "Ramona was certain that it was him."

"But have you seen him with your own eyes?" Sylvester asked again, calmly.

Evan looked out the window again.

"It's a possibility that she was hallucinating it. Being a patient of clinical depression for a long time, she used to have hallucinations. She had been in trauma for the loss of her baby, she still have nightmares about her time with Lucas, especially about that night..."

Evan gritted his teeth, he didn't want to listen it all over again. It made him want to burst out of his own skin in rage and break something. "I know! Ramona has told me everything." He snapped.

"She was so scared, I've never seen someone so broken." Evan mumbled after calming himself down. "It's hard to believe it's just her brain playing games with her."

"That's what Lucas did to her." Sylvester said with sadness.

Evan closed his eyes taking deep breaths. What all Sylvester said was logical. It was in no freaking way possible for one single person to be present in two different places at the same time.

Suddenly a scream outside in the corridor shook the whole hospital. Evan and Sylvester both stood up straight in their position.

"Somebody HELP me!!"... And the never ending scream seemed to be moving very fast in the length of the corridor and was advancing closer.

They both looked at the wide opened door to see a frantic looking Oliver in his wheel chair pass by in a speed of around two hundred thirty kilometer per hour. Evan gawked in shock.

Sylvester sighed. "I guess, the cute nurse finally had had enough of him."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Since that moment when Ramona had left no secret of herself unopened to Evan, the feeling of freedom, this... this relief of as if a door had been unlocked made her feel at peace. She felt like, finally she could breath the fresh air after so long. The nightmares were still there each night but waking up every two hours to check on Julius, changing his diaper and feeding him... the whole procedure of taking care of a small kid made those memories appear in her sleep, lessen.

Now it was the motherhood that felt not addictive but meditative and was in a mighty speed settling in her like a second nature. Maybe because there was love involved, that made this process feel so heavenly. Ramona was drowned so much in love with this kid, she didn't know how she would be able to live after Evan returned from the hospital and claimed his son back. She had grown too accustomed with Julius's sweet smiles, little cries, his every innocent expressions and toothless grins. She loved watching Julius sleep, she loved when he would wake up crying only to stop when she rocked him in her arms. She loved singing lulaby to him and how each moment this little ray of sunshine filled her heart with - hope.

Hope which she had lost once in the hands of a monster named Lucas.

Evan had returned that hope to her that day in the hospital and made her believe in it. It was not like she wasn't scared anymore of Lucas but she was relieved in some way that now she had finally found the strength to fight it. No one might believe that Lucas was back and she wasn't hallucinating... but she didn't care. She cared for the care she saw in Evan's eyes and the way everytime his little son clung to her making it feel like a healing potion was spread all over her burning wounds.

Ramona stepped out of her car and walked towards her house. Seeing Sylvester standing on the porch steps with Julius bouncing on his lap made her frown. Harry was beside the wide opened front door in the process of hitting the buttons of his phone looking really frantic. Why were they here at this time?

"Hey guys! You're early. Aren't you guys supposed to be still there in the hospital?"

Ramona watched as all eyes were suddenly on her. Except Julius who was vibrating in happiness seeing her, the other two adults jiggled with multiple expressions on their faces. Harry and Sylvester first looked at her in relief, then in anger and finally in absolute shock.

Sylvester was the first to recover. He stormed down the distance between them to stand right in front of her. He took a moment to breath. "We were so worried where you went off to, Harry was just about to call the sheriff." He then pointed at her hair. "What happened to you hair?"

Ramona touched her hair, a smile formed on her lips. She took Julius from Sylvester. "I decided that I don't want to hide anymore. Lucas might be back... or not but I don't want to be scared of him anymore."

Harry was standing next to Sylvester listening to her silently til now, he leaped towards her in a lightening speed and hugged her with eyes moist.

Ramona's own eyes filled up. She shifted Julius so that he wouldn't get smashed in the hug.

"I refuse to die every second, I refuse..." The muffled sob that escaped her lips made Sylvester now to join the hug as well while trying to blink back the liquid of emotions. "I..." Ramona mumbled again, now sobbing.

"Shhh... we know..." Sylvester whispered.

All of them reveled in this calm and serenity that spread over them. But they didn't know this might also be a sign of an upcoming storm. It was one thing to stop being scared of the devil and another to actually fight it.
