Aditya's POV
Me and Arjun settled on the dinning table to have our dinner after a long tiring day but something was wrong. The tense atmosphere of the house was too much to handle. There was pin drop silence and tension in the air was so thick that it could be cut by knife. Only sounds were of utensils that were being torched by Mumma. She was in a bad mood.
“Whats wrong with her?” I asked Dad in a whisper.
“You ask her only..!” And again three of us went quiet.
Mumma laid down the table. She was putting bowls and plates with so much force that they were making noise and it was kind of scary for all of us. She do not get angry much often.
“Never ever!” She spoke, angrily after sitting on the chair. This took our attention even after we started to serve ourselves already.
No one dared to ask what is she thinking about.
“Even if she is the last girl on earth, Adi is not getting married to her. Not at all!” She fumed.
Is she mad at Zoya?
‘Why Zoya in particular Mr. Hooda?’ My heart asked smugly.
‘What is actually wrong with you?’ My mind scowled.
‘Stop it!!’ I stopped my inner voices before they could start the war. None the less, they continued bickering. I shook my head.
“Mom… but she is nice …. You did like her, didn't you?” I asked, hesitating. Lest she blasts over me.
“Oh! I never liked her and you know it! And she isn't nice!” She scoffed.
Okay! That came as a shock to me. She never liked Zoya? How? Why? When?
“But Mumma… you know her too much now… and did Zoya do something to upset you??”
“Who says I am talking about Zoya?! I am talking about Pooja!” She spoke the name at the end making a face.
“Oh….” I sighed in relief that she is not mad at Zoya. But then I remembered what she said.
‘Pooja?’ Both my mind and heart stopped their wrestling with each other when they heard the name.
‘That cheater here?’ My mind asked, mad.
‘Whyyy?? Whyy me? It's all because of him. God! Couldn't you put me in some other man's body?’ My heart cried.
My inner voices are just too much for me also. I have stopped talking to them now.
‘Go to hell both of you!’ I told them and turned my attention to Mumma who was here giving me most important gossips.
“Wait…. What? Pooja? Here?” I asked her, very confused.
“Yeah… she is in Mumbai and she came here during lunch time. And do you know who brought her? None other than Zoya! Don't know what she have made Zoya think that she brought her here after knowing she left you three years back.”
Pooja… with Zoya? How come they met each other?
‘Hey bhagwaan! Meri toh kismat hi kharab hai!’
(Oh god! Such a bad luck I have!)
My heart wailed, dramatically.
‘Oh! Shut up!’ I ordered irritated.
“Aditya! Listen to me!” Mumma's strict call brought me out of my thinking. I looked towards her attentively.
“You are not getting married to her even if you have to live your whole life as a bachelor!” I nodded, gulping. My mother can be scary sometimes.
“I will satisfy myself with puppies and cats as my grandchildren but won't let you marry that girl ..” She spoke with finality.

I parked my car in front of Zoya's house and gazed at her room balcony. How come she met Pooja? I was thinking and was worried too. I wanted to know what lies she has fed Zoya. This question brought me here. I wasn't able to wait. I dialled her number to call her down.
“Zoya… I am outside your house, come down.” I instructed, not a single hint of playfulness in my voice.
“Aditya… Now..?”
“Yes, now! Do you have a problem with that?” I sounded rude this time.
Okay… Okay… Calm down Aditya. It's just Zoya. Not Pooja. You don't have to meet her.
“Zoya!” I called her when I heard nothing from her side.
“Acha.. acha.. I am coming down.” She spoke, hurriedly and I disconnected the call.
I started walking to and fro in front of my car anxiously. Pooja isn't a problem for me. Problem is Zoya's kindness and naivety. I stopped when I saw her walking out of her home. She smiled and approached me.
She knows I am angry on Pooja. No wait! That phase is long gone. Her chapter is closed in my life. I was definitely angry on her but slowly Zoya made her space in my life. A very prominent place. Now I don't feel anything for Pooja.
Sigh…. But she don't know that. After our Delhi trip, she never brought up Pooja's topic. And I was too busy exploring new feelings with her that I forgot telling her that I don't feel anything for Pooja at all.
“Haanji… Boliye…” She tried to sound playful.
(Yup! Tell me..!)
Ahhh!! What will I do with you Zoya… I was frustrated now. She can't just act all normal after what she had tried to do. Without informing me she brought Pooja home.
“You brought Pooja home?” I asked seriously. She nodded.
“Why?”
“Because there is a misunderstanding, Aditya. She… She didn't want to leave you back then… She had no choice…” She tried to explain.
I know where she is going. Let's get straight to the point then. Why to beat around the bush..!
“You want me to reunite with her?” I asked very seriously.
Now, I wanted nothing more than to know about her feelings for me. Does she only take me as a friend?
Kaisi Teri Khudgarzi…
Na Dhoop Chune Na Chhaaon…
Kaisi Teri Khudgarzi…
Kisi Thor Tike Na Paaon…
Nothing was going on in my mind except for the fact that Zoya is well and good seeing me with someone else. First betrayal and now unrequited love. Why always me??
Wait!! What did I just thought? Love? My eyes widened in realisation but she didn't notice. She was busy in looking here and there, thinking how to convince me.
Heck! What a perfect timing Aditya!! Just now I have realised that I love her and now only I am on the verge of heartbreak.
“You love her, right? So, you should atleast give her one chance to explain. People go through worst but it's not like it is the end. Giving chances and forgiving is something very important in a relationship. You should onc-”
I interrupted her lecture because I wasn't interested in it a bit. I just wanted to know one thing. What am I to her?
“Are you happy? Tumhe farak nhi padta?”
(Are you happy? Doesn't it matter to you?)
She looked at me puzzled. What? It isn't rocket science Zoya. You are not that much stupid to not to understand my meaning. Please! Please God! Make her answer me.
Kaisi Teri Khudgarzi…
Na Dhoop Chune Na Chhaaon…
Kaisi Teri Khudgarzi…
Kisi Thor Tike Na Paaon…
“Ofcourse. You are happy. I am happy. That's what matters.” She tried to reply cheerfully but wasn't cheerful at all.
I gazed at her. Everything went blur for me. It doesn't matter to her. She is happy. Damn it! I had a sudden urge to break something. Immediately!
Ban Liya Apna Paigambar…
Tar Liya Tu Saat Samandar…
Phir Bhi Sookha Mann Ke Andar…
Kyun Reh Gaya…
“You will meet her?” She asked with hope in her eyes.
She is so much keen on making me meet her. It really doesn't affect her. She just takes me as a friend and that's why wants me happily. How should I tell her that she have become the reason of my happiness now?
Without replying, I turned around. I balled my hands into a fist to control my anger. It isn't her fault that she doesn't feel the same way as I do for her. No? Anger isn't justified, right? Is crying justified?
Re Kabira Maan Jaa…
Re Faqeera Maan Jaa…
Aaja Tujhko Pukaare Teri Parchhaaiyan…
I sat in my car and left without saying a single word.
Re Kabira Maan Ja…
Re Faqeera Maan Ja…
Kaisa Tu Hai Nirmohi Kaisa Harjaaiya…
Why I am so unlucky in matters of love?
I wiped my eyes with my sleeve while driving.

I returned home and ascended the stairs to go to my room without seeing who is in living room. Even if someone is present, I have no mood to talk to anyone. Especially mumma. She will make a fuss. I don't want to include her in this at all.
I entered my room and sat on the edge of bed with my fists clenched tightly. My legs dangling down. From my peripheral vision, I saw Arjun leaning at the door frame of my room. His arms crossed at his chest. He gave me a look asking what happened now.
“In real life you are really not privileged to break things. Or I would have broke so many things by now.” I started. He sighed and walked towards me.
“What happened now?” He asked calmly and sat beside me.
“It doesn't matter to her. She is happy. She wants me to reunite with Pooja.” I let out a frustrated complaint.
“Are we talking about Zoya?” He asked. I glared at him.
Such a stupid question!
“Is there any other girl in my life?!!” I asked back, angrily.
“Ah… I get it. She said this to you?” I nodded, tiredly.
“Why don't you ask Aarohi?” He suggested making me look at him confused.
“Look… At first I thought that she too will reciprocate your feelings but now as she is so keen to make you meet Pooja…. I fear what if she thinks of you as a good friend only?”
“Call Aarohi.” I didn't make any action.
Aarohi won't ditch her. She won't tell. Especially, because it is me.
“Aditya… I would have advised you to come clean about your feelings for Zoya. But if she didn't reciprocate your feelings-” I immediately cutted him off in middle.
“Maybe…”
The hope was still left in me. Especially after Arjun brought up Aarohi's name.
“Yes! That maybe! Hence, I am asking you to talk to Aarohi. She is Zoya's best friend. She can tell you about her feelings without any filter.” Arjun knocked some sense in my mind.
There is no harm in trying. If Aarohi get to know whole situation and if she is her real best friend, she will tell me.
“You are really very smart Arjun.” Arjun smiled and patted his own back.
“I know… Don't know what you would have done without me….” I grinned and grabbed my mobile to call Aarohi.
Please God! I wish she reciprocate my feelings.

I leaned on the railings of balcony and looked out at nothing in particular. My mind was preoccupied. Zoya..! This girl is driving me nuts! Sigh….
I tried to call Aarohi but stopped thinking about Dad and Mumma. Do they approve of my relationship with Zoya? Will they? If they didn't, I don't know what to do ahead. But I have a gut feeling that they will have a proper reason if they denied.
I was gathering the courage to go and talk to Mumma. Everyone knows she is a overreacting, drama queen. As I prepared myself and turned to go to their room, I found Mumma standing there.
She smiled and walked near me as Dad stood at the spot she was standing a second ago.
“Dad? Mumma?”
“Tell me truth Adi..! Do you like Zoya?” She demanded answer softly, with a expectant smile on her face and held my hands.
Aa… What does she want to hear? I glanced at Dad, who had soft smile on his face. Nah! That isn't helping…
“Mumma… I…” I fumbled.
What should I answer…? All my courage went down the drain. God! Do this happen often in everyone's life? Like your mom coming and asking you this much frankly?
“Aditya… Tell me..!” She persuaded me softly.
Dramatic! Okay! Take a deep breath!
“Amm… Yes Mumma. I like her. I-” Before I could continue she left my hands and squealed, scurrying towards Dad.
“Arjun was right. I am so happy!!” She chirped, smiling wide happily.
I looked at her with a non-believing expression. What am I seeing is true? I blinked my eyes to make sure it all does not disappear. Wow! It didn't disappear. Did she consume something wrong or inappropriate by mistake?
“How do you know?” I asked looking at them.
“Your mom was worried thinking that now Pooja is back you will give her a chance and wasn't leaving the topic. So, Arjun told her that you like Zoya now and Pooja is long forgotten.” Dad explained.
Ohh! Arjun…
Iski toh! Shanti nhi hai ise bilkul bhi!
(He don't have peace at all! I won't leave him!)
“He is right. But….” I agreed and was going to tell them that I won't be doing anything without there permission but I trailed off.
“We don't have any problem! I like Zoya from the very first day!! She is such a sweet and nice girl…” Mumma chirped.
I nodded with a ‘Like wow’ expression. Oh! Dr. Psycho! You have wrapped all of us around your fingers just by your innocence and kind nature.
“So, what are you waiting for? Go and propose her na!!” She spoke with enthusiasm and desperation.
She has always been this desperate for my marriage thing after Pooja left.
“I will. On the right time.” I spoke. She scoffed.
“What are you waiting for?” She whined.
“Making sure she say yes.”
And don't go to do any stupidity because of her nice nature.
