Nayeli's classes didn't start for another four days, so she had lots of time to familiarize herself with campus. She went to a large high school so she was used to a big area.

Move in day was actually two days here, she read, and her roommate would be coming today, hopefully. To keep her mind off of her family being so far away, she tended to her clothes, unpacking and putting them in her dresser, and folding them up to put in bins for underneath the beds.

"Mama I'm literally walking up now...Yes ma....No mama, I'm not gonna forget toโ€”yes ma'am. Okay love you too, bye," Nayeli heard on the other side of the door, followed by a huff of air.

A key was put into the lock on her door, and the handle pushed down, opening the door to reveal a beautiful brown skinned girl. She was thin, but built, Nayeli could tell because she wore crop top and running shorts. She wore her hair back into a slick ponytail, showing off her face. Her eyes weren't small, they were just low and slanted, like cat's eyes. Her cheekbones were high and prominent and Nayeli thought she was absolutely gorgeous.

"Oh hey girl! You must be my roommate," she grinned, showing off a pearly white smile. "I'm Samara, I'm 18, chem major, from Shreveport" she stated proudly. "But since we gon be best bitches you could call me Lea,"

Nayeli was immediately caught off guard. She was still the same bubbly girl but as she got older her anxiety grew with her and she was a bit nervous with making new friends.

"U-uh hi," she smiled timidly. "I'm Nayeli, 18, social work and child development double major, and I'm from Atlanta," she spoke back. "You can call me Nai," she nodded. "It's nice to meet you,"

"Double major? Girl you smart as hell, and pretty look that skin baby," she gassed Nayeli, making her blush furiously. "Nice to meet you too, pretty," she grinned.

"You're really pretty too, I love your lashes," she replied.

"Oh, thanks pooh! My cousin Tae do lashes, I'll get you a discount," she winked at Nayeli playfully, making her laugh.

"So! Let's talk about decorating. How you want it to look in here?" Samara asked, plopping down on the bed, propping her head up ok her fist.

"Well," Nayeli started, "I have a pin board of ideas," she smiled slightly, already feeling more comfortable around Samara's vivacious personality.

"This is your car?" Samara gasped, as they walked up to the Range.

"U-um yeah, my daddy bought it for me," she nodded, unlocking it for them. After scouring Nai's pin board, Samara and Nayeli decided to go to target to get some things. This also served as a way for them to get to know each other better.

"Wowww can yo daddy adopt me or something?" she said playfully, as they got comfortable inside.

"I got hella brothers and sisters, I'm sure they would," she laughed.

"Really? How many?" she tilted her head. A song began to play through Nayeli's speakers as she easily backed out from her spot and followed the gps.

"Four," she smiled, thinking of her brothers and sisters. "Omari is 11, Ajani and Amani are 10, and Sarai is 5," she showed Samara her lock screen when they stopped at a light. It was a picture of them from this spring at Cianna's eleventh birthday party.

"Awww how cute! I have two, Shamari is 16 and my older brother Shareef is 22, I'm my mama's only girl," she smiled proudly.

The rest of the ride they talked about their siblings and how much they'd miss them being here at school.

When they got to target, they bought some lights, more hangers for their closet, extra towels and sheets, and moved on to decorative items. Nai's God momย  being an interior designer really helped her out as she grew up, every time she wanted to redo her room, Rayne was there to help her.

"Oh this is gonna be so cute! I can't wait to show my brother. His dorm in college was so triflin'" she shook her head as they loaded everything into the car. "So, you play sports?" Samara asked.

"Kinda? I dance," she informed her.

"Oh for real? What kind?"

"Ballet, I been dancing since I was 3," she smiled. Ballet was still a passion for Nayeli, whenever she had the chance she danced with her mom's company and attended dance classes every weekend.

"Oh you official," Samara replied. "You gonna do dance here?"

"Uh, I want to. Hopefully they're good," she said. She knew the meeting for the program was a few days from now, and she was excited to see what they were about. If she didn't do ballet here, she'd just do competitions with her mom's company in the spring, and maybe do cheer here.

She cheered all four years in high school at AP, plus her last year in middle school, andย  she loved it. It was much different than ballet but she enjoyed it for the short time she did it, and like many of the other things she did, she was quick to get the hang of it.

"If not, I'll try out for cheer," she shrugged.

"You're just athletic as hell, huh?" Samara chuckled.

"I guess it's my family," she nodded. "My uncles and grandad love sports and they had my cousins and I running around with them all the time," she smiled.

Once they got back to the dorm, they spent the rest of their day unpacking and continued getting to know one another, Nayeli was very happy with the roommate she got.

"Why we need to be here? It's tryouts," Duck rolled his eyes as he, Armani and some of their other teammates sat on the bleachers in the basketball gym. Four days had passed since move in day and he'd been at basketball practice every single one of those days.

Luckily, the boys had a day off of practice today, but they had to sit through tryouts for incoming freshmen, or anyone else who missed it last season.

"I wish I knew," Armani muttered, grabbing his phone from his shorts. He'd much rather be sleeping, or eating, anything besides being at the gym after getting abused all morning for practice.

"Well looks like cheer got tryouts too," one of their teammates, Hassan smirked. Armani lifted his eyes from the screen, watching the cheer captain and co captain leading a large group of girls towards the back, while their coach spoke to his own. Cheer had the time slot for two hours and Coach James forgot.

"Well boys, looks like tryouts getting pushed back two hours," their coach spoke, approaching the bleachers. "Y'all still ain't exempt, so you may as well make yourselves comfortable," he said as some boys began to stand up.

"Coach why we gotta sit here watching these lil girls do flips and shit," Hassan groaned.

"Don't be ignorant," Armani scoffed. He hated when people discredited cheerleaders, not only because it was literally physically taxing, but his sister was a cheerleader, and he knew firsthand the hard work that went into it.

"Here AK go, simping," he heard him mutter. Instead of addressing him, he simply continued watching the girls on the floor, lining up to try out for the team. He actually looked forward to seeing the cheerleaders at halftime, they kept the crowd energized even when they weren't playing their best.

"Gah damn she fine as hell," Duck mumbled as one of the girls followed the routine they were given. He thought she was pretty as well, but his eyes caught sight of someone else.

She had her long hair pulled back into a tight ponytail, and a neon orange sports bra/running shorts set that made her already rich dark skin pop more. He could only see the side of her face as she stood by waiting for her turn to run through the routine.

He tried his best, but he couldn't tear his eyes off her for a second. He watched her flawlessly execute the routine with grace. He was completely enthralled by her, and he hadn't even seen her face yet. As her round of tryouts came to a close, he found himself actually excited to see her face, but was blocked by the next group of girls coming for their turn.

He audibly sucked his teeth, catching some of the boy's attention.

"What happened?" Duck looked around as well.

"Ohโ€”nothin' bro," he shook his head quickly, turning his attention back to his phone.
