I woke up to Aunt Nadia shaking me to get up and I groan, turning to my other side grabbing my duvet with me.

"Andie, honey, it's your first day of school. I'm not sure you'll want to be late." She shakes me again, gently, and I frown. I completely forgot about how draining it is getting up so early in the mornings.

"You don't have to go if you don't want to." She adds, most probably taking my displeased expression the wrong way.

I sit up, resting my back on the headboard and rub my eyes. I try and process what Nadia said and finally realise that it's Monday.

Just like Nadia said, it's my first day of school and if I'm being honest, I'm not dreading it as much as I thought I would be. Maybe this could be a turning point?

I nod my head finally answering, "Yeah, I still wanna go." I smile and she hugs me unexpectedly but I don't question it. I love her but it's definitely too early for this...

"I'm so proud of you, you know. Going back to school so quickly and trying to make the best out of a bad situation." Her voice is muffled by how tight she is hugging me. Not so long after, she eventually stands up leaving my room but not before saying goodbye.

Mark has already left for work and I guess Nadia is about to do the same and once I'm dressed, I go downstairs to get greeted by Josh.

"Do you want me to give you a ride to school?" I nodded but already presumed he was taking me as I don't know where the school is.

"Yes please, How is it? The school I mean." He takes one last spoonful of his cereal and puts his bowl in the dishwasher.

"It's okay I guess, nothing special. It's just school, Andie." He laughs a little and I laugh slightly as well. He grabs his keys off the side and turns to me.

"You ready to go?"

******

"This is your schedule and locker number. If there are any problems just come back and we'll try and sort it." The receptionist smiles while handing me a post-it note with the code and a piece of paper with my lessons on it.

"Thank you." I look at my timetable and I guess I haven't got the worst lessons for my first day of school; science, English, maths, PSHCE, health and food.

Although it doesn't seem that bad, as soon as I see everyone in the hall the nerves overwhelm me. It's kinda strange to think that the last time I was at school my mother was here.

I walk slowly, trying to find my locker, and everyone else is either speaking to their friends or getting their books for their next lessons. I told Josh that I'll be okay by myself and after a bit of persuading, he finally said he'll see me later.

Back in my old school, I was the sarcastic friend, the jokey one, but I'm not exactly going for that this year. I'll probably make a few friends but If I don't then I'm okay with that, I'm not bothered.

I'm still looking for my locker when I crash into someone and all their books land on the floor. It's a high pitch voice that catches my attention and it comes from the girl on the floor.

"Oh my god," She looks almost scared and before I can say that it's fine she continues, "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to. Are you okay?"

When I look in her direction I see a petite figure with short brown hair.

"I'm fine, are you okay?" I ask her, worriedly.

"I'm fine and sorry again." She says sheepishly and then looks at all her books on the floor, gasping a little. She crouches down to start piling them up and I bend down to help her.

"I'm Andie by the way." I smile a little and hand her the books. She frowns a little and once we've both stood back up she speaks.

"You've got to be new. I've never seen you before." I nod and she turns her confused expression into a warm smile. "I'm Mia." After the short introduction, I remember that I still have to find my locker.

As if she read my mind, she asks me if I need help to get anywhere or not. I tell her that I need to find my locker and she leads the way.

We don't make any conversation and I would be lying if I said the silence wasn't slightly awkward. In my defence, I don't exactly know how to act and I'm still a little nervous.

"Here you go. Maybe you could hang out with me at lunch and hopefully see you in some of my lessons?" She asks shyly and I nod straight away.

"Yeah, sure, thank you. That'll be great." Once Mia walks away, the bell goes signally the start of first period. Hopefully, science will wake me up a little more but in all honestly,

I highly doubt it.

******

"And that clears up our lessons on enzymes today." The teacher clapped her hands together and while everyone is packing up, I'm still trying to recover from that lesson.

When I say it was boring, I mean very boring.

Boring would be an understatement.

Before I get to English or even attempt to find the English room, I bump into someone. Again. Great! Even I didn't know I was this clumsy.

"I'm sorry," I say turning around to see who I hit. He didn't exactly look the happiest, the large scowl on his face making that apparent, but that didn't stop him from being one of the most attractive people I've ever seen.

I didn't show that in my expression of course, but I did continue to check him out.

His brown hair absorbed all the light in the room making it glow, his height towered over me and he's wearing a standard grey top with black jeans. It's simple but he still exceeded the word 'handsome'.

His green eyes were piercing through me but not in a good way, he was glaring at me.

"Whatever, just watch where you're going. Do you have eyes or are they just not working?" I roll my eyes and go to say something but he's already stormed off.

Man, why are the hot ones always the jerks?

All I want to do is call him a dick and kick him in the balls for being so rude but it's my first day. I'd rather not be noticed for something like that on my first day.

Everyone around me was looking but they didn't say anything, they just stared. Their expressions, however, spoke for themselves, I think they are all as shocked as I am.

It wasn't exactly all my fault, he should have looked where he was going as well. The second bell goes for warning and that's when I head straight to my next lesson, English.

I'm proud that I even managed to get to class without even getting lost. The teacher completely ignored me when I went in but I didn't mind, I just sat down in one of the two seats left. It was either the one in the middle of the room or the one in the right corner. So as you can probably tell, I took the one in the corner.

The lesson starts and not even five minutes later the door swings open, banging against the wall by the force used. Everyone's gaze goes towards the figure standing near the door.

If I was to say I must have extremely bad luck, could you guess who it is?

Yes! Ding ding ding, you have the right answer. It's the moron who was in the hallway just now.

"You're late." The teacher gives him an unimpressed look and this guy rolls his eyes.

"Really?" He looks at his wrist pretending he has a watch on it. "My watch must be broken but thanks anyway, Miss." He gives the teacher a mock salute and everyone starts to snicker—except me.

What kind of idiot is the dude? I'm still confused as to how he's in the school still if this is how he usually treats teachers.

I tap my pen on the desk waiting for the lesson to continue but before it can douchebag over here skims across the room and his gaze lands on me.

Yes me. Why on earth it does I don't know but I act like I don't notice by pretending to doodle on the desk.

Real smart Andie, real smart.

He starts to walk over in my direction and I chant the same thing in my head repeatedly. God, if you hear this then please listen to me.

He gets closer and the with each step he takes I say one thing and one thing only.

Don't come over here. Don't come over here. Don't come over here.

Well, my prayers don't get answered because he's now standing in front of me.

"You're in my seat." It doesn't look like his mood has improved seen I saw him not too long ago but I look down again, fiddling with my pen this time.

"Hello, are you deaf? This my seat, now move."

Oh, I heard you alright, douche.

"Yes I did and I'm pretty sure there's a seat right in the middle." I point to the spare seat that's left but he doesn't bother looking, he just keeps staring at me.

"Have you got eyes or are they just not working? I said there's a seat there." I point to the seat again, mocking him with his own words.

Everyone's jaws around me dropped but I'm not just gonna stay quiet if he's going to treat me like shit.

"You're so lucky you're new. Stay out of my way." He grits his teeth and stomps over to the other seat like a two-year-old.

I think I hear him mutter 'bitch' but I don't retaliate. Once he's sat down he turns to me giving me another glance.

Me, being my old sarcastic self, gives him a smirk and a little wave just to annoy him even more. He turns back to the teacher with a scowl and a smug grin takes over my face.

Throughout the whole lesson, he keeps looking back at me, staring, making me uncomfortable. The way he keeps looking at me is a mixture of anger and like he's trying to figure something out.

We finally get set our work and while everyone starts to talk amongst themselves, he carries on staring at me—I should really say glaring at me.

Seriously what is his name already?

Once the lesson is over, I make my way to the canteen as it's now break, thank the heavens, I just need to try and find Mia.

As soon as I step into the canteen I see Mia straight away.

"Hey, how was class?" I ask as I chuck my bag on the chair next to where I sit down. She looks at me for a second, not saying anything, until I'm hit with a question she asks.

"Why do I keep hearing about this thing that happened between you and Cole?" Talk about a nice welcoming and what is she even talking about.

"Who the hell is Cole?" It doesn't even take long for her to answer.

"Cole is that guy you apparently bumped into in the hallway and argued with during English."

Ohhh that's his name. How does she even know about that?

"So the dick does have a name," I mumble under my breath.

"Yeah and that 'dick' is my brother." My eyes almost pop out of their sockets and Mia bursts out laughing.

"I'm just kidding, your face was priceless." She carries on laughing and I sit there awkwardly.

"Seriously though, It's better to stay away from him. If you have him on your back then you'll have the other guy pestering you as well. They both hate each other so much that they'll both go to any length to piss each other off."

"Other guy? There's two of them?" If this other guy hates Cole then I like him already.

She nods, taking a sip of her water.

"Mhm, Josh."

I frown because of the familiarity of the name. Let's hope it isn't who I'm thinking of.

"Josh? What's his last name."

"Mitchell. He gets around just as much as Cole does but jeez, Josh is hot."

Great.

Absolutely

Fucking

Great...
