I'm on my way to Zayn and Perrie's place after being on the phone to Perrie for almost an hour. She felt awful for me leaving the party and insisted on it being all her fault as she was the one who invited me.

I told her it wasn't her job to babysit me and that perhaps the party environment isn't my thing.

I arrive to their flat which is about a fifteen minute drive away on a good day. Today is not one of those good days as the traffic was horrendous. Bad traffic in New York? No way I'd never believe that.

When I am met with the familiar, multicoloured, but mostly auburn building - I put my indicator on and wait for a kind driver to let me in. I end up waiting another five minutes until finally, a young woman lets me through.

I send her a wave, thanking her and drive into the underground parking. I put my breaks on and come to a stop when I see Zayn leaning against the brick wall. He smiles and waves at me when he recognises my car.

I almost contemplate taking out my phone and snapping a photo of him. This guy just looked like he was in a photo shoot leaning on the wall like that. Him and Perrie are going to have very attractive children.

Pressing the unlock button on the doors, I wind down my window and shout "hey good looking."

Zayn gets in my car and his familiar cologne instantly fills the confined space. He's now dressed in a casual white t shirt and navy sweats. "Hey Ella" he leans over and kisses my cheek. "Long time no see."

You'd think we'd get sick of each other after working with each other all day and then hanging out after work, but we don't. He's such an easy going person which makes him so incredible to get along with.

Plus, we are often so busy with our jobs that we may only see each other whilst passing in the lifts in a hurry to get our papers to Tony's office on time. Zayn's assistant recently quit, so on top of all his work he needs to find a new assistant. I'm so lucky I still have Taylor.

Zayn said I could park my car in his neighbours parking spot as he is away on holidays at the moment. I wish I was on a holiday right now.

"I submitted another article to Tony today." He tells me. He's been stressing about getting it done and it must be such a relief for him o have it finished.

"I'm so glad you did because now you can just focus on editing until you get your next article."

"If I get my next article."

I look over at him and shake my head. "You will Zayn. And you'll get promoted soon too. Tony knows how good you are. Did you get the word count?"

"I was at 1007 words and reduced it to 1003. It's just over and it would be nice if I had an assistant to edit it for me and reduce that word count too."

"I could help you."

"You have enough on your plate. I could've asked Taylah but she seems like she's been in a whole other world lately."

"Boyfriend troubles" I tell him and he nods.

We get out of the car and I lock it over my shoulders. I didn't worry about getting my coat out because we will be indoors soon.

"Now that the articles done I should start seeing who Tony has interviewed to be my new assistant."

"Make him tall, dark and handsome please." I wink.

Zayn puts his hands out to the side "um, you already have me."

"A single, talk, dark and handsome man who isn't my best friend."

"I reckon I could hook you up with one of my cousins. I should organise for you two to go on a date."

"Sure if it involves me being able to wear my pyjamas." I say sarcastically.

"You can wear your pyjamas if you want, but I know he won't want to be seen with you because that'd be a complete embarrassment." I guess Zayn and his cousin are more alike than I thought. He wouldn't be caught next to me in such casual attire either. I'm kidding.

Imagine being able to wear pyjamas to places without being judged. Sometimes I'll do that if I'm walking to the post office a couple of streets away or down to the lobby of my building. You should see the stares I get.

"I could never embarrass him or you Zayn"

He shakes his head "definitely not. Like that time you accidentally spat out some of your blueberry muffin and it got on my white shirt right before an important meeting. That shirt was expensive and did you know it took three washes to get out with that extra powder booster or whatever it's called."

I laugh at the memory. I felt awful for doing it, but seeing that blue stain just to the left of where his belly button is, was hilarious. The more he scrubbed at it, the bigger the stain got. He would continuously put his tie over it that day in hope it would hide it.

Then we reach the elevators.

I sometimes freak out in my apartment because the elevators are so old and bouncy that they could break down at any second. I have got caught in it once for like five minutes and I thought I was going to die in there.

Zayn's elevators are ten times worse. The lights flicker and there's even a piercing screetch sound that goes along with it. Then, the doors take about twenty seconds to open once it has stopped on your level.

Those twenty seconds is where you contemplate if you're going to be stuck in here for a while, drop back down to the ground floor at a gut wrenching speed or the third option, be let out onto your level.

Perrie has been stuck in this elevator seven times whilst Zayn the lucky duck has never experienced that.

I follow Zayn through the long hallway until we get to the familiar grey door. He opens up the door. Their flat is a huge contrast to the old brick on the outside of the building. They're both clean freaks so their place is always spotless.

It smells like caramel in here and I look to the left to see a candle burning. "Where's Perrie?" I ask and soon she comes around the corner with open arms.

"Ella" she hugs me and I squeeze her in return. "I'm so sorry about last weekend."

"Pez, it's fine. I'm just glad you guys had a nice time there." They ditched the party downstairs and went upstairs to have as Perrie said on the phone fun of their own.

"Want something to dr- oh wait you drove here didn't you?"

I nod. "A water would be nice though please?"

She rolls her eyes "so boring my child." And she strolls towards the kitchen and I follow her.

She has a cheeseboard out with some snacks on it. She always knows how to make her guests happy.

"Is that cabanossi?" I ask, instantly grabbing the tiny piece from the board.

"Hey!" Zayn grabs my arm before I can have another one. "Wait till I'm done." He goes into the cupboard and gets a packet of biscuits out.

Perrie hands me my water. "Thank you. How was work today?"

"Fantastic actually. I did someone's hair in corn rows."

"That would've been interesting. Did it take long?"

She nods "hours. Her hair was so fucking thick. I'll show you a photo." Perrie grabs her phone from the table and gets the photo up before showing me.

"Wow that is thick hair. It looks good though you did a good job. You should do that in Zayn's hair I reckon it's long enough up the top."

I look at Zayn who has his hands up, telling me to stop. "Already had that conversation and it's not going to happen."

I laugh. "Come on Zayn you can pull anything off."

"Exactly babe" Perrie agrees with me. "He's too much of a wimp."

"Am not" he frowns. "Can we just go eat and watch the bachelor already?"

Hell yes. "I'm down!"

Perrie, Zayn and I have been watching this season. Occasionally when we are all free we will watch it together either at my apartment or theirs.

There's only a couple of weeks left until this season is over. Zayn and I think Lisa will win whilst Perrie is going for Laura.

We go over to the lounge room and sit on the sofa which has the best view. So much better than the view my apartment has.

Now this shows the beauty of New York. It's most amazing when the weather starts to get cooler and you're sitting indoors with a hot beverage and the heater on whilst outside the snow begins to fall.

It sums up the word beauty in an instant.

"So, anything else on tv?" Perrie asks me as he moves closer to Zayn. The bachelor just finished. I know this sounds creepy but I just can't help but watch them all the time when they're together. The way they look at each other, talk to each other and act around each other is just so pure.

If I were to want my relationship to be like anyone's it would be theirs.

"I don't know, lets look" Zayn turns on the tv and begins flicking through channels.

We end up watching the last half of the movie The Holiday. I've seen it before so I didn't need to watch the beginning.

It's a wonderful movie. Maybe I should swap homes with a pen pal then fall in love with her hot brother. That would he nice wouldn't it.
