Xaviers POV

I woke up on Monday morning excited to get to work. In all honesty I think I was just excited to see Genesis. Despite the class being composed of over 50 people, she always stood out to me.

Simply because she's gorgeous. But now that I've gotten to speak to her, I've learned that she's actually pretty cool. I looked forward to seeing her.

So when I walked into the lecture hall and she didn't show a wave of disappointment hit me. You wouldn't have been able to tell though since I just kept teaching like normal.

I emailed her to be sure everything was alright and she hadn't even replied. I don't know why I even cared that much. Plenty of students didn't show up. Why did I care so much that she didn't?

Now today is Wednesday and I'm on my way to class. Still deep down hopeful that I'll get to see her. There's no way she'd miss class twice, right?

Luckily my thought was right. As soon as I walked into the classroom my eyes darted around to see if I could find her. She was sitting in her usual seat in the back of the lecture hall.

Surprisingly she had her hair down and straightened instead of in the usual bun she wore. She looked good, but nothing topped the way she looked when her hair was curly though. I hadn't seen her versatility when it came to her hair just yet, but I'm sure nothing topped the style she wore it in at the lounge on Friday.

Even though her hair was different, she wore a hoodie with the schools name on it and a pair of tights. I noticed that, that's the kind of thing she always wore. Saturday was the first I'd seen her in anything remotely revealing. She looked gorgeous, but I had a feeling the outfit wasn't her idea. Maybe it was the look of discomfort on her face or the way she kept pulling at her sleeves and pulling the dress down.

"Good Afternoon, students. Today we don't have a whole lot to cover. I really wanted to just go over paper ones due date and answer your questions about it before I get into anything else." I began.

"So you should've already started with your paper proposals, that's due tomorrow at 11:59pm. The paper itself is due in two weeks though. Between now and then we will have two work days, a writing workshop, and if you need any help with it my office hours are posted in canvas."

"Do you have any questions?"

A few hands raised and I picked on a girl sitting a few rows away from Genesis. "Is the page count including the works cited page?"

"Yes it is. So it should be four to five pages long including a works cited page."

"Should the works cited be APA?"

"MLA or APA is acceptable. Don't forget that you should also have at least two peer reviewed sources but you must have 5 altogether."

After getting through five more questions I was finally able to get to my lecture. The actual lecture only lasted about 25 minutes since we spent the first 25 talking about the paper.

After entertaining some other questions from students for ten more minutes, I went back to my office. I had the plan to leave and go straight home, but in all honesty I wasn't quite ready to go back.

I loved my house, but some days it just felt cold and dreary and I didn't always want to go home to that. So instead I ordered some food and got ready to grade some work. I sighed heavily as I opened up my laptop and pulled up the papers people turned in.

As I started to read one of them I took off my tie and unbuttoned the first three buttons of my shirt. Suddenly a knock sounded at my door. "Come in!"

The door opened and much to my surprise Genesis stepped inside with a shy smile. "Hi, Professor Nixon , I-I had a question about the paper."

"Come on in." I urged her with a welcoming smile. She stepped all the way inside and shut the door behind her before taking a sit in front of my desk. "Before I ask I did want to apologize for not getting back to you in the email you sent. I typed a response and got distracted, so I forgot to send it." She sounded so disappointed in herself.

She wouldn't even look me in the eye. However, that was on par for her character because she never really looked me in the eye. I let out a soft laugh at her explanation and shook my head. "It's okay. Trust me I've been there. Weeks would go by of me thinking someone is ignoring me when I really just forgot to reply to them in the first place."

Her sigh of relief was subtle and the small giggle that followed after was adorable. "Now what did you want to ask about the paper?"

"Well I wanted to know if writing about the relationship between crime and power would be a good idea."

"How do you mean?"

"Like, How criminal behavior Amongst people of power is different amongst regular people. Or maybe why people with power commit crime." She explained.

"I think it's a great idea. I just want you to make sure you're clear on the focus. Although I'm sure that within the five pages you could find away to easily make a nice flow and talk about both of those ideas."

"Okay great! I have so many ideas about how I can do this. Would it be okay if I came to your office hours on Friday to look over what I have?"

"Yes of course. You can come whenever you'd like."

"Great, thank you so much, Professor." She smiled softly and it made butterflies erupt in my stomach.

"You can call me Xavier if you'd like." I told her. The words just slipped out without me even thinking. "Xavier? You sure?"

"Yeah, I really only prefer my professional title in class." I shrugged.

"Hmm okay then. Well if we're on a first name basis, please call me Luna."

This is like the calmest I've ever seen her while talking she always looked nervous but right now, she seemed comfortable. "Luna...why do you go by your last name?"

"I don't know, I'm kind of just used to people using it instead of my first name. So I usually just introduce myself as Genesis."

I nodded in understanding. "Well Luna, I'm glad you and I are on a first name basis."

Was I flirting? Well was I trying to flirt? Maybe.

"Me too, Xavier."
