Work has been crazy with people adopting so many animals and some are coming back for another one after adopting last year.

Lib and Jerrick have been busy making cookies and Brynn and Joey are here helping fill out forms and Reyah is front and center smiling with her Christmas hat on helping any way she can.

Pat and dad are taking people to see the dogs and mom and Shirley are helping people see the cats.

It's Christmas Eve so we are only open from 8 am-2 pm so that we can go celebrate with our families.

So many animals were adopted out and by the time the last person left and we locked up we were tired.

"So how many in total were adopted out?" Dad asked.

"Umm ten cats and twenty-two dogs."

"Wow, that's so great!"

"It's all because of Reyah. She is the mastermind of this." I smiled.

"You got a good one son."

"Don't I know it, dad. I never thought I could be this happy." I smiled as Libby walked over with some leftover cookies.

"Thanks, Libby!"

"Share them with your dad but don't forget my house tonight around 8 pm so we can open gifts." She smiled.

"We will see you then." I smiled handing my dad a couple of cookies before walking off to find Reyah.

She was in the cat area with mom fixing up the beds for the kittens.

"Are you about ready to go babe?"

"I am!" She smiled holding a little white kitten."

"Have you named that one yet?"

"I have Madden. This is Snow White."

"Should have known. Alright, let's go. Oh, mom doesn't forget Libby said by there by 8 pm to open gifts."

"Sounds good to me son."

We headed home and the cats came running down the steps sounding like a herd of animals to meet us in the kitchen.

"Madden I have a gift for you that I want to give you now and it can't wait."

"Now?"

"Yeah now come on." She said heading upstairs.

I followed her into the bedroom and watched her get out a box out of her dresser.

She walked over to the bed and handed it to me. "It's too special to have to wait."

I sit down beside her and took the box and when I lifted the lid I had to do a double-take.

"Is this for real Reyah?"

She shook her head yes and was trying not to cry.

"We are having a baby?"

"We are Madden!"

"What? When? How?"

"I think you know how Madden." She laughed.

"I mean how long have you known?"

"Since yesterday. I bought a test on the way to the shelter and took it in the bathroom and then I called the doctor and they called back saying they had an opening and I went in and was blood and pee tested."

"So you said you didn't feel good because you were going to the doctor?"

"Yeah I'm sorry but I didn't want to get your hopes up if I was to just lose it the next day like before."

"Oh, babe!" I wrapped my arm around her and kissed the side of her head.

"Yeah, so Dr. Shepard told me that I'm three months along and it will be due in June."

"Oh wow, we are going to be parents! This is the best gift that you could ever give me Reyah."

"I'm so happy Madden. This is all I have been wanting. We will have our rainbow baby." She teared up.

I kissed her tears. "When are we telling our parents?"

"Tonight! I have boxes for them as well but I wanted you to know first. I have your other gifts for in the morning."

"I hope something like last year." I laugh.

A little while later we get ready and head over to Libby's.

We pull up and my parents arent here yet but Jerrick isn't either.

We walk in and it smells amazing in here.

"Mom what did you make?"

"What didn't I?" She laughs as we walk into the kitchen and the whole counter is lined up with homemade candy.

"Holy crap is this my Christmas present Libby?" I laugh.

"You can have as much as you want but maybe wait until everyone is here." She smiled.

Reyah went and put the presents under the tree and snuggled up peanut butter until my family arrived.

Jerrick came over and sit on the couch beside Reyah. "Sorry, guys I was getting some last-minute things."

We all had some candy and cake and I couldn't wait to see my parent's faces when they find out they are going to be grandparents for the first time!

"Present time!" Libby said.

We all opened gifts and Reyah got up and handed her mom and my mom their gifts. "Now I want you both to open them at the same time."

I watched holding my breath and they pretty much opened them at the same time. My mom was quite trying to figure out what it was but Libby started screaming.

"I'm going to be a grandma???" She jumped up.

Reyah giggled. "You are! I just found out yesterday. I'm three months so we are looking at a June baby."

"Oh, I am so excited." Mom said.

"I'm going to be the favorite uncle." Jerrick laughed.

"You are the only uncle Jerrick." I laughed.

My dad laughed. "Our first grandbaby will be here next year to celebrate Christmas."

When Reyah looked over at me I kissed her lips. "You make me so happy Mrs. Berlin.

"You make me so happy." She smiled kissing me again.

"Am I ever going to get someone to kiss?" Jerrick laughs.

"You are too immature Jerrick," Libby said and everyone laughed.

"If you let girls know that you can cook and post pictures of that candy on your Facebook you might find someone," Reyah said.

"Hey, that's not a bad idea. Will you take a picture of me in my apron?" He laughed.

I couldn't help but shake my head and Reyah followed him to the kitchen.
