I laid around most of the day until Reyah got back. When she walked in she looked frazzled.

"What's the matter?"

"That party that we catered today that was for Micah's mom!"

"What the fuck Reyah?"

"Yeah she didn't know and once I told her I walked out but Jerrick talked to her and she wanted to talk to me so he went with me and I showed her pictures and the restraining order I had a picture on my phone."

"I'm glad Jerrick was with you. What did she have to say?"

"She kept apologizing and that she had no idea what he had done. She felt so bad but I told her it wasn't her fault and to enjoy her party."

"He wasn't there was he?"

"No she said he wasn't but your brother he stuck right to my side and I really appreciated him being there."

"Come sit down and hold a kitten you will feel better." I smiled.

She walked over and sit beside me and Casper crawled in her lap and Spooky got on her chest. "Well, this helps."

"My parents invited us over tonight to have dinner with them. Do you think you are up for it?"

"Of course I am I love Cheryl and Chet." She smiled.

"She said she was making stuffed pepper and sides do you like that?"

"I love it. I bet she called and asked mom." She laughed.

"I was wondering because that's, not something she used to make when I lived at home."

"It's because she likes me Madden." She smiled and I leaned over and kissed her.

Later in the day, we got ready to go over to my parents and I checked the food and water bowl before we left.

I drove us in my new truck. I still can't get over that Russ left me this truck. Did he somehow know that Reyah and I would end up together?

We pull up and go inside and man it smells good in here. "Mom we are here."

"Oh Madden you guys come in the food is almost ready."

Reyah walks into the kitchen to help mom and I walk to the living room where dad and Jerrick are sitting.

"You come for dinner too?"

"Yeah, mom called and invited me."

"Thanks for what you did for Reyah today. She was a little shaken up."

"It's no problem. I am glad that I was there to help her."

"What happened?" Dad asked.

"That asshole that hit her and tried to rape her the catering job they had today was for his mom but she didn't know and Reyah was shaken up but Jerrick took care of her."

"That was nice of you Jerrick," Dad said.

"Yeah well I like Reyah and I think one day she will be my sister in law and so I have to protect her." He said.

I patted him on the back right as mom called for us to come to the dining room.

When we walked in Reyah was pouring glasses of wine while mom was putting the food on the table.

"If you don't want wine I have beer in the fridge guys." She said.

"I will take a beer, Cheryl," Dad said.

Jerrick and I said the same thing.

"Good, then more wine for Reyah and me." Mom laughed.

We sit down around the table and mom wanted to hold hands while she said the prayer.

"So you had a catering job for a pregnant dog today?" Dad asked laughing.

"Yeah, it was laying on a little pink pillow. It was a Dalmatian." Reyah laughed.

"Oh, those puppies would be expensive." Mom said.

"They could be if she sells them," I said.

"This is really delicious Cheryl its one of my favorites."

"I know! Your mom told me." Mom laughed.

"I told you Madden!" Reyah laughed.

Mom made a cherry pie for dessert and that's my favorite and it was good with a side of vanilla ice cream.

By the time we finished eating we were stuffed. I went back to the couch with dad and Jerrick while Reyah helped mom clean up and put leftovers away.

"So Russ left you that nice truck?"

"He did and I still can't get over it dad. Did he know I would end up with Reyah?"

"You never know. If he didn't maybe he had hoped so. He seemed to of had all of his ducks in a row didn't he?"

"He really did. He left them set up with so much money and left me money and the truck and that's why that jerk was after Reyah."

"How did he know she had money?" Dad asked.

"Because he was her dad's financial advisor and he told her how much her dad had left her and wanted her to invest."

"Ohh and well she didn't and he just saw dollar signs."

"Yeah, basically but she kicked him in the nuts and took a restraining order out on him."

"I saw your ex at the shelter what was going on with that?"

"Oh she came wanting me back but Reyah put her in her place and walked her out the door." I laughed.

"I swear that girl is better than a pit bull." Jerrick laughed.

When mom and Reyah walked into the living room they were giggling and Reyah came to sit down beside me.

"Your mom gave us containers of leftovers to take home." She said.

"Thanks, mom! We will most definitely eat them but you may have to come over to get your containers and meet your new grand cat."

"Did you take in another one?"

"Yeah, Reyah thought that Spooky was lonely so we picked a white kitten with some gray on him and named him Casper."

"Do they get along?" Dad asked.

"Oh, they love each other. Casper even slept on Reyah's face all night."

"Oh goodness, how did you not smother?" Mom laughed.

"I had no idea until I woke up and Madden had to get him off of my face."

We all laughed.
