' Yknow, maybe walking around at night in the streets while playing blasting music in my ears was a horrible idea after all.'

I clenched my jaw and shivered as a gust of wind went by...

' Not to mention without a damn jacket...'

I sighed in annoyance. I just needed to get away from it all for a little, I was in a whole new world now. With no friends, and no one I know here.

' And I hate it.'

I missed them all so much, it was so hard to say bye to them. I've known them for so long. I gripped onto my shirt as my edgy moody music made this feeling in my gut feel worse. I hugged myself as the air felt freezing by each passing moment.

Just then I felt a vibration in my pocket, I whiped out my phone as my eyelids began to feel heavy.

" Fuck..." I mumbled.

โ€”โ€”โ€”

New Message-

Mom: It's late, you've got school tomorrow

โ€”โ€”โ€”

'Yeah she's not wrong...'

But then a small smile curled onto my lips.

' At least you have my back.'

Yeah, it was pitch black outside, going back to the apartment was a no brainer.

' But still...'

I didn't know why, but... I wanted to stay... just a little while longer...

My brows furrowed.

' But why? There's nothing here for me to see, this place is a dump. Whatever, I'll just go back home for now.'

โ€”โ€”โ€”

Me: Yeah, I'm coming back, I'm at the park so I'm not too far

Mom: Alright, be careful

โ€”โ€”โ€”

I felt a sudden chill down my spine as I took a step forward. I shivered by the out of place feeling.

' Something doesn't feel right... I feel like I'm forgetting something.'

I turned on my heel and looked behind me. At a far distance, I saw the wishing well I ran into earlier today while I was strolling around here.

I hummed, and stared at the wishing well for a moment. I reached into my pocket to take out my phone, but I felt something else in there as well. The smooth, cold flat surface of the coin caught my attention.

' Wow, convenient.'

It was odd to say the least knowing that a wishing well was at such a rich estate of an apartment complex.

" Well, I guess the corporate greed for money never sleeps, huh?" I spoke out into the utter silence that was the eerie grass field.

I tossed up the ol' quarter into the sky, and caught it midair.

' Fucks sake, I need to go home. So why am I doing this?'

To be honest, I didn't know the answer to that. I dragged my feet across the pavement of the sidewalk, and onto the grass as I made my way to the old well. As I stood in front of the looming well, I eyed the coin in my hand. It almost felt like I wasn't the one controlling my body... like something was guiding me here.

' Freaky...'

I then saw a sign from the corner of my eye that was next to well. I turned my head to examine the sign.

' Damn... this well looks pretty beat up.'

I noticed the indents and greenery of the vines and flowers cradling the well. Bits of the bricks that constructed it seemed to be chipped off, and rusted.

I looked down at the sign. It looks just as old with the cobwebs and dirt covering the words. I blew air onto the sign. As the dirt cleared away, I was able to see the words carved into the old wood.

" The Caerus well, named after the Greek god Caerus. Was constructed by his followers, and fellow villagers who grew up in the village he lived in."

My brows raised.

" The Greek god of opportunity and luck harnessed his abilities of granting wishes into this well. However, this well only grants wishes to those who want something desperately. Choose what you want carefully."

I smiled as I scrunched my brows together.

' What a load of ass.'

But... the pang feeling in my chest. It wouldn't go away...

I looked back to the well, it looked like it was telling me to come close. Like... it chose me...

I shook my head.

' Alright fine, I'll make a wish. But only because I want the spirit of Caerus to fuck off.'

I took one last look at my coin in my hand. I couldn't put a finger on why my heart was beating so fast. I closed my eyes tightly. And as I held the cold object in my hand. It felt like the air around me was hugging me. Everything felt like it started to spin as my eyes were shut.

' What the-...'

It felt so surreal, and out of this world... this feeling, it felt like I really was making an important decision right at that moment.

I used my other hand to grip the coin as well. And I held onto it for dear life.

I sighed, as the world felt like it started to spin faster. But, at the same time, it felt like time stopped.

" I wish..."

Then... it stopped... like the earth held its breath, and waited for me to say something.

Then I remembered about my friends from back home, my real home. Or at least, it still felt like that back there was still my real home. As I thought about my friends, it was then decided. If I wasn't going to leave this dump, I at least wanted my time here to be worthwhile.

" I wish I could make some new friends."

With the metal ping of the coin, it got flipped into the well. And with that, the Earth whispered back.

" Granted..."

I gasped as I heard the voice, and my eyes shot open again. I was out of breath as I looked around me. If anyone was around. But... no one was here... My heart pounded in my ears.

' What the fuck .'

I whipped my head around back to the well.

" That's the last time I come here." I nodded to myself.

And with a turn of my foot, I walked off to the apartment.

โ€”โ€”โ€”

As I tossed the keys for the apartment onto the couch, I walked to my bedroom door, and slammed it after entering. I collapsed onto my bed, and turned over to look at my ceiling.

" Caerus, if you're actually real, please don't curse me forever. I was just kidding about me wanting you to fuck off." I whispered.

And of course, I heard nothing in return.

" Good night Mr. Greek god!" I said hushly again.

...

" C'mon man at least gimme a sign that you're here, I'm really tryi-"

Then suddenly, with a burst of wind, the window came flying open. I pulled my blankets over me and hugged myself as I shivered from the freezing air. Then somehow, the wind traveled all the way to the corner of my room, and caused my laptop to fly open. My brows raised, with a trembling body, I crept off my bed, far away from the device. I grabbed the nearest object as my hands shook, which was pretty inconvenient since it just so happened to be the vase with my grandma's ashes inside. I put the vase there for now since me and my mom didn't exactly know where to put them in the apartment yet since we just moved. I froze as I grabbed the object.

' Y'know what maybe I shouldn't throw my dead grandparents' ashes at a computer...'

I gently placed it back down on my drawer, only for me to pick it back up again as I heard my laptop turn on by the sheer gush of wind invading my goddamn room.

I turned back to the haunted device and pointed my deceased grandmother's vase to it.

" GET OUTTA MY ROOM FOR FUCKS SAKE I GET IT!"

Y'know, I was only half kidding when I told that damn ghost to come out and play, it didn't exactly come to mind that my laptop would be possessed and be damned for all eternity.

But it didn't stop there, the wind continued on to press some keys on my laptop up until it opened up chrome.

I heaved heavily.

' Now I definitely know this shit isnt normal, otherwise, I seriously need to take that laptop to get it fixed.'

" Caerus, I know you want to play right now, but I've got school tomorrow. And just so you know, I'm absolutely not into this casper act." I tried to come off as pissed off and badass as possible, only for me to sound like a shaky, scrawny schoolboy. I sighed as I merely stood there with metaphorical piss in my pants.

I popped an eye open and peeked over to my laptop, only to see no more buttons toyed with by the wind. As I took a breather, I noticed the wind wasn't even invading my room anymore. My brows raised as I observed the laptop carefully. I hummed, and tiptoed across my floorboards to close my windows shut.

As I slumped over to my bed and laid there for a moment, I couldn't shake the feeling about my open computer with the strong beam of light emitting from the light mode on my chrome. I stared for a while.

" Man... I kinda feel like watching something right now." I whispered to myself, I shivered again as a chill went down my spine.

" Goddamn it-"

Then, with the brisk of wind seeping through the cracks of the bottom of my window, the wind again maraciously pulled something else with its sheer force alone. Except this time, it was yanking my legs out of my bed. I gasped as I tried to pull my legs back to my bed, only for the wind to slump me onto the floor.

I squeezed the bridge of my nose and huffed.

' Man... I better be getting some great ass friends if I'm getting tossed around to do stuff like this.'

" So... I'm guessing you want me to do something on my computer?" I asked into oblivion.

.

.

.

" This is ridiculous, I have no idea what you want from me." I groaned. As I sat on the floor I thought for a bit.

" Hmm, but I guess it won't do much harm if I just...watched something for a bit."

I peered at the glowing beam of light from my computer.

" Look, I don't know what the hell you want me to do, so I'll just watch some shows instead."

.

.

.

" Right, 'forgot that you're shy, whatever."

I jumped to my feet and sat at my desk. I googled into the searchbar of the cursed object.

' Crunchyroll.'

Normally in a case like this, I wouldn't exactly jump at the opportunity to watch anime, but... again, this feeling won't go away. It was like someone was controlling my brain to do things out of my control. I should be screaming my head off at my puny little gamer chair, but there I sat with a shit-eating grin looking at anime genres.

I smiled softly as I looked at my selection of anime that I should finish.

" Hmmm... maybe... I should finish My Hero... The plot isn't really going anywhere so far, but then again, I only just finished the part after they left USJ." I muttered as I rested my head on my hand.

I clicked my tongue and thought about it as I circled my mouse over the cover of the anime.

" Meh...

what's the worst that could happen?"
