AVERY

"You?!" I shriek, unable to believe my eyes. Madelyn, Dylan's assistant stands right in front of me with her gun pointing this way.

"Who else did you think was it?" She cocks her head sideways and asks. A devilish smirk spreads on her lips. Her voice sounds different, a lot different. It isn't that sweet innocent tone, I remember.

"H-how did you get in?" I ask and press myself against the edge of the stone top. I start looking around. Gripping the edge, I try to think of any sharp object that could be here. Maybe even a bottle, but that would be a bad move. She has a gun!

"You don't have to worry about that honey, " she smiles at me, a creepy, scary smile. I gulp and bite my lips. I am literally shaking right now. Where are Jason and Mrs. Grifffin?

"What did you do to Jason and Mrs. Griffin?" I ask while trying to move away from being right in front of the mirror.

"They are taken care of." My heart sinks at the words. What did she do to them? Did she hurt them...? God she is crazy, she can do anything!

A man appears by her side. A big, husky man. My eyes widen realizing that she is not alone. The man steps inside the bathroom and begins to move towards me. "No!" I cry out in horror. As I leap on the other side of the room, he wraps his arm around my waist and places his large hand on my mouth muffling my screams. I begin to thrash and throw my legs but nothing is helping. I try to push him with my hands, scratch him, nothing.

"No, no, you don't want to do that, honey, " Madelyn says in a low tone, marked with a silent warning. Tears keep rolling down my eyes. I can barely breathe. My body seems to be getting dizzy and giving up. "Let's go, " she whispers and nods towards the door as an evil smile spreads across her lips.

The man begins to drag me towards the bedroom. I keep thrashing. He is so strong, that none of my movements seems to affect him. He carries me out of the bedroom and down the hall. I try to scream as loud as I can but it all sounds faint. When he starts dragging me down the stairs then to the garage, sobs start breaking through my whole body.

"Put her into the trunk." My eyes widen and I try to scream. I try to pull his hands away from my mouth. I try to stop him from dragging me into the garage with my legs. He gives me a thrash from behind and my ankle bends making me cry out in pain.

Through my blurry vision, I see Madelyn opening the trunk. I shake my head, crying. She moves to my side and the hand gets removed from my mouth. "Help!" I scream, at the top of my voice but immediately a piece of cloth gets stuffed into my mouth while the man pins my wrists to my body. Madelyn ties my mouth quickly.

"You don't know, all I want to do right now is shoot you, " she grits through her teeth and fisting my hair, she tugs at it hard. I whimper in pain and squeeze my eyes shut. Leaving my hair, she moves in front and ties something sharp around my wrists and my legs.

The man shoves me into the back of my car and slams close the trunk. I begin thrashing. No one will know where I am. They are taking my car. Everyone will think I am leaving. My windows are tinted. There is no way someone will be able to hear me. And...my baby. What if I am pregnant?

Feeling helpless, I rest my head on the headboard and let the warm tears flow. My body keeps shaking with the sobs as I hear the engine start and feel the car put to drive. Squeezing close my eyes, I give up fighting.

After about twenty minutes, I feel the car stop and my heartbeat quickens. My eyes are already swollen. I can barely feel my body. Madelyn opens the trunk door and the man comes to stand beside her. I begin shaking my head. Madelyn looks at the man and silently gestures towards me. He leans in and pulls me out of the back of the car. I thrash but I know all that is vain.

The man drags me in through the door of the small room.

"Handcuff her to the chair." Madelyn snaps glaring at me. "Stop moving!" She grits and pushes the gun against my stomach as I try to break free. I immediately still. The man drags me and ties me up to the chair. Still looking at me, Madelyn says, "Now, go wait outside. I have some personal business with her." The man leaves and the door closes behind him. I glare at her face. Even though I am angry, I cannot make impulsive moves. For all I know, I could be having a baby in me right now. "I see the curiosity in your eyes, " she says in a fake sweet tone.

"Why are you doing this?" I ask in a raspy voice. I've already lost my voice.

"C'mon Avery, I thought you were smarter than this, " she says and steps closer to me. "Okay, let me say the words if you want to hear it." She leans forwards and whispers, "I want Dylan." I gulp down. She straightens back up and asks, "How long have you known Dylan? A month? Two months? I've known and loved him since I was a child."

I blink a few times. "What...?"

"Surprised? You should be." She continues, "We were in the same school. Even the same college. Just he was senior to me. Then I got a job as his assistant so that I could stay as close to him as possible. All these years I've loved him and hoped that one day he would finally notice but he never did. Then Diana fell sick and Dylan got desperate to get married for her. I even tried to take the opportunity and I would've gotten it if your useless cousin didn't show up."

"You were the one who blackmailed her?" I ask even though the answer is pretty obvious, I never thought it was Madelyn. How could she? She has been doing this the whole time? She was the one who tried to kill me?

She shrugs nonchalantly. "Well, yeah. I told her I would kill her family if she didn't obey what I say. Including you. If I had known that you would spoil my whole plan, I would've done that much before." She grits her teeth. "Anyway so, as per my plan, she would've eloped, I would've shown up at the right time and Dylan would have to get married to me. But when I reached, I saw you. Walking down the aisle."

Suddenly she smacks the side of my face with the back of her gun, making me grunt. "Ahhh!" Dizziness appears under my eyelids.

"Hurts doesn't it? Huh? It should. It hurts me more to see Dylan with someone else."

I cough and try to hold back the nauseousness building in me. "You think you can get Dylan by doing all this?" I snap.

"I am going to get Dylan after I kill you. You know how? Well, he will need someone's shoulder to cry over his wife's death. And I don't think anyone would do that better than me. I won't let them."

"He won't fall for you. Because he loves me. You should know him better than that. And what makes you think he will notice you after so many years?" If I don't make it out of here, if she kills me then she will do anything to get Dylan. And there is no guarantee that she won't try to hurt him. She is a psyco.

"You think you made him fall in love with you with your cute little sad love story? What will happen when he knows that I have a similar story and for me, it's not some dumb kid from school but Dylan himself?" Of course, she knows about Marcus. For how long has she been tracking me?

"You can pretend that he doesn't love me but that won't stop being true." Immediately she hits the side of my face and I grunt.

"Like that?!" Tears sting my eyes. I am on the verge of crying. A sob leaves my lips. Madelyn puts the gun on my forehead and yells, "And why am I talking to you?" Then lowering her voice, she says, "Time to go, missy. Bye-bye." I squeeze my eyes closed. Dylan's face flashes in front of my eyes. He smiles at me. I see his grey eyes staring at me with love. Tears start spilling out of my eyes. I won't see him again.

"Please don-"

Suddenly there is a thud at the door and my breathing stills. "Put the fucking gun down!" I hear a male growl. My head snaps in the direction of the voice. Dylan stands at the door with a gun pointed at Madelyn. His jaw tight and his eyes are shooting daggers at Madelyn.

"Dylan..." I call. His eyes fall on me and soften.

"What are you doing here?" Madelyn yells keeping the gun pointed at me.

"You really thought you could kidnap my wife from my house and I won't follow her?" With that, he steps into the room and closer to us.

"Don't come closer or I'll shoot her!" Madelyn warns.

"Before you can pull the trigger, the bullet will be out of my gun, you know me, Madelyn, " Dylan says in a grave voice, intimidating as hell.

Madelyn looks at me and says, "Dylan knows about me. I guess I can't follow my plan now. But if I don't get Dylan, " as she stops once to look at Dylan, I know what she is about to do. Confirming my thought, her hand swings towards Dylan with the gun. "No one will!"

"No!" I yell. The gun roars and I squeeze my eyes shut. There is no way this is happening. It has to be a dream. Please, please. "No-no-no. No!!! Ahhhh! No-!"

I hear a thud, indicating someone's body falling on the floor. My mind shuts out. And everything stops. My body starts to feel lighter. All the sounds around me fade away. I don't know if I am breathing. That's when two hands land on my shoulder. "Avery." Dylan...

I open my eyes and look at him. He is alive. He is alive. "Dylan..." Suddenly, a nauseous feeling hits me and I snap my head in the other direction. I throw up. Dylan jumps back then comes around to hold my shoulder. I empty my stomach on the floor. My head gets dizzy and darkness falls under my lids.
