Today is a big day for the pack.

Alpha Nolan is passing down his Alpha title to his son Jake.

This is a very big deal in our culture. The eldest child of the Alpha is given the Alpha title.
This occurs on two conditions: the Alpha chooses to retire and passes down his title to his child or when the Alpha's child has found their mate.

The reason for today's ceremony is because Jake has found his mate. And you'll never guess who she is.

My darling step sister, Layla.

Jake is 24 while Layla is 22. The reason they discovered they were mates so late was because Jake went to another pack for Alpha training because our current Alpha couldn't be bothered to train his own son.

Of course the Alpha didn't tell people that. His excuse was that he'd like his son to learn new skills from other Alpha's to better our pack for the future.

It was a believable lie seeing as the pack believed him but I saw right through his lies.

The pack was currently in havoc. Every omega and pack member was running around like headless chickens trying to get everything ready.

I was helping the omegas with cooking while the pack members set up outside.

There are seven omegas in this pack and are treated the same as I am.
Beaten for the simplest mistake. Beaten for something going wrong even when you aren't to blame. Beaten for not doing as your told.

We are all beaten into submission and that's no way to live; Living in fear is no way to live.

"Hurry up mutts. The guests will be arriving soon!" The devil herself screamed.
Layla was like a bridezilla. She was acting like we were preparing for her wedding and we were messing everything up and stressing her out even more.

I rolled my eyes and continued peeling the vegetables and chopping them.

After a few hours all the food was finished and set up outside and all the omegas were dismissed while I had to stay and help with last minute touches.

"Go home mutt. I don't want our guests seeing you" my father spat as he pushed me out the back door of the pack house.

I sighed as the cold air nipped at my bare arms. I ran my hands up my arms to try and warm them up as I began the walk home.
I could hear the distant sound of laughter and chatter of the guests before everything quietened down and the Alpha spoke.

I reached the house and shut the door behind me then went to my room.
I flopped on my bed and let out a pained yelp. I laid on my stomach for a while and stared blankly at the concrete wall opposite me.

After that night with the Beta a few days ago, I didn't wake up till late afternoon the next day.

Because of that, I didn't cook breakfast, lunch or dinner and I didn't do my daily chores. The consequences for that?
A beating that resulted in me falling unconscious. My father had broken 5 of my ribs, fractured my wrist, whipped my back so bad that it was a bloodied and mangled mess, also my skin was littered with bruises and cuts.

My ribs were almost healed but my back was still bad. One of the omegas helped me with dressing the wounds and my back is covered in bandages. The wounds often open during my chores but I'm forced to endure the pain or receive punishment.

'Lillian we need to leave' Tala announced suddenly. Her voice was filled with worry and urgency.
'Why?' I asked.
'We must leave!' she persisted.

I sighed but complied with her wishes.

I grabbed my bag of possessions and made my way upstairs. If your wondering why all my belongings are in a bag, well Layla ran out of space for her shoes so she took the chest and threw a garbage bag at me.

So now all my clothes and my mother's keep sakes were in this bag.

I listened for any signs of danger before slipping out the back door. Just as I stepped off my back porch, an alarm blared throughout the territory.

'Rogues' I gasped as I began running as fast as my legs could carry me through the forest.
I could hear the distant sound of screams and growling but paid no mind to it as Tala pressed me to run faster.

'I'll take over' Tala announced before she moved forward and took control of my body.
We reached the boarder and we stopped just before we passed the line.

'I, Lillian Wilson, hereby cut all ties with the Red Moon Pack' I spoke through my mind and instantly felt a part of myself disappear.

Tala resumed control and continued running. We stopped at a small river and we carefully made our way passed to hide our scent trial.

Once we reached the other side we froze at the sound of growling. I snapped my head to the right and saw two pairs of glowing red eyes.
The rogues stepped out from the shadows. Their eyes full of madness and hunger, their fur covered in dirt and dried blood and their mouths dripped with salvia as they snarled.

I whimpered as I took a step back causing one of them to growl as they both stepped forward.
Without another second thought, I spun around and ran like my life depended on it because in this case, it did.

'Tala what are we supposed to do?! We can't outrun two rogues!" I asked frantically as I tried my best dodging trees and dips in the forest floor.
'Run straight' she replied.

I whimpered as the growls and snarls from the rogues grew closer and closer by the second.
I began getting an uneasy feeling in my stomach that I couldn't understand and tightened the hold on my bag.

Just as I jumped over a fallen log, one of the rogues leaped and clamped its mouth around my leg.
An agonising scream left my lips and I dropped the bag. My scream caused all the birds the fly away in a hurry.

Oh how I wished I could grow wings and fly away from this.

Tears left my eyes as I tried to release my leg from the rogues tight grip. I sobbed as I watched the other rogue walk towards me slowly.
He walked like a predator about to attacks its prey and I was exactly that, his prey.

I looked around for any type of weapon I could use to my advantage and I thankfully spotted a fallen tree branch.

I gripped the branch tightly and swung it at the rogue which made him release his grip on my leg.
I scooted backwards as I held the stick in front of me.

The rogues growled furiously and I watched as my blood dripped from the rogue's mouth.
The rogue leaped for me but I held the branch out and swung it which caused the rogue to fly into a nearby tree.

The other rogue growled at me as he looked back from his unconscious friend.
He didn't hesitate to leap for me but I was too slow and didn't react in time.

His jaws clamped down on my shoulder and I screamed in pain. I cried harder as I began feeling light headed from all the blood loss.
I tried to use my hand to push the rogue off but I was too weak.

The rogue released his mouth from my shoulder and stood over me, snarling as his saliva fell from his mouth onto my face.
I whimpered and closed my eyes as I waited for the inevitable.

But nothing happened.

The weight of the rogue was suddenly lifted off me. I blinked my eyes open and looked around.
I watched as a large black wolf wrestled against the rogue.

The black wolf was truly magnificent. His midnight black fur shined under the moonlight. It stood tall and radiated power. It fought effortlessly, its moves were elegant and flawless.

My eyes began drooping but I fought to keep them open. I laid on my side as I tried to stay awake to look at the wolf.

The black wolf clamped his jaw around the rogues neck and ripped off a chuck of flesh and spat it to the side. It turned and I saw blood smeared over his snout and fur.
His eyes were glowing emerald green and were mesmerising.

I could feel my consciousness slipping away then I fell flat on the forest floor and my eyes began fluttering shut.

The last thing I heard was a small whine as something soft brushed against my cheek.
