We all ran towards a clear section of the outside fence to the prison, using a pair of bolt cutters, Rick cut a small hole into the fence and everybody slipped inside. Glenn quickly patched the hole up with a steel wire just as biters reached the fence, trying to shove their faces through the holes.

"It's perfect, if we can shut that gate to prevent more from filling the yard, we can take the field by tonight," Rick said looking determined.

"How do we shut the gate?" Hershel asked.

"I'll do it, I'm the fastest," Glenn volunteered.

"It's a suicide run!" Maggie looked at Glenn, obviously not in agreement.

"No, you guys distract these ones while you hit them through the fence. Carol, take Lori and the others up into that tower to pick them off if they get to close to me. Daryl, Willow, I need you over in that tower to cover my other side," he started giving out orders.

I didn't argue and nodded my head, following Daryl towards the tower. I don't know why we seem to always get paired up for things but I tried to ignore that and focus on the task at hand. We reached the top of the tower just as Rick started making his way towards the gate across the walker filled yard.

Glenn and the Greene family were shaking the fence and yelling to pull a couple of the walkers towards them, stabbing them through the fence with knifes. Carol and T-dog were up in the other tower, taking shots at the biters inside the yard. I watched Rick nervously as he ran across the field and took out a couple walkers along the way. Daryl and I shot any that got to close him as he reached the gate and secured it with a metal chain.

It didn't take long to clear all the dead from inside the yard, once the deed was done we all met up inside the middle of the field.

"We haven't had this much space since the farm!" Carol smiled brightly.

"Whoo!" T-Dog cheered.

I couldn't help but crack a small smile as the group took in the open field that was now ours. This place was just what needed. After we cleared out inside Lori would have a safe place to have her baby, we could settle in and get some real hunting hours in for some real food. I had to admit I was relieved we finally caught a break.

"Rest up, the hard work starts tomorrow," Rick reminded us.

We set up a small fire and huddled around it eating what little food we had left, at least most of us were. Rick was out patrolling the fence for the 15th time and Daryl was up by the front gate taking watch. I knew he wouldn't eat anything if somebody didn't bring it to him... Getting up and taking a little bit of the squirrel from earlier I head over to the overturned bus he was standing on.

"What's wrong?" he asked me from up top of the bus. I scrunched my eyebrows a bit, why did something have to be wrong?

"Nothing, just brought you something to eat since you wont be joining us," I said, stepping up.

He held a hand down towards me, looking up at him for moment, I took his hand and had him pull me up. Handing him the small cloth with some meat wrapped inside it, he took a seat on the edge of the bus, letting his feet hang. He looked up at me when I didn't sit beside him with a raised eye brow.

"You gonna stand there all day?" He asked me.

I shook my head and sadly took a seat beside him, my back feeling uncomfortable as I sat down. I knew he was testing my abilities, seeing what extent my injury was. The truth is, I was tired of hiding it. I found it harder to lie to him then anybody else on top of it. The only reason it took so long for him to figure it out was because he ghosted me for all those months. It took me weeks to be able to walk around at a somewhat comfortable state.

"You're gonna get yourself killed keeping something like that to yourself," he muttered, eating a mouth full of squirrel. I sighed, trying to straighten out my posture.

"Why do you care so much? You ghosted me for months and now you're concerned," I asked him. I wasn't screaming or being absolutely pissed off like I've been for the last few months, I was calm and collected just waiting for whatever answer he gave me.

He stared down at his feet a moment, trying to think of something to say. I dont think even he knows why he did it. His lips parted and just as I thought I'd get my answer, Carol walked up.

"Rick wants everybody to rest up for tomorrow so we can clear out a cell block," she told us.

"Thanks Carol," I said down to her.

She walked back towards the fire and Daryl was already climbing down the side of bus. I guess our conversation was over... Looking down at the ground, I hadn't really taken it in to consideration that once I was up here I'd have to get down. Daryl noticed my hesitation.

"Come on, I gotcha," he raise a hand up towards me.

I took a breath before sliding down off the bus and let out a small groan as he caught me at the bottom. His arm was around my waist, his other hand on my hip. Looking up at him we both froze like a deer in headlights. This wasn't the first moment we'd had together, his sturdy walls did occasionally come down when he was with me, you could see it in his eyes.

"If you don't tell Hershel, I will, I don't need you getting hurt again," he said in a deep calm voice.

I bit my bottom lip, he'd never let this go, maybe he was right though. I shook my head in defeat and felt his arm retract back to his side. He walked me back to camp and we settled down for the night on opposite corners of the camp. My brain never felt more twisted and confused.
