I couldn't contain the anxiety I was feeling as I waited impatiently for Daniella by the window, Soph and my dad were sleeping just up the stairs and here I was about to meet my calculus teacher.

More importantly, she agreed to come, this must mean something, right?

I refuse to believe she feels nothing romantic towards me, and it might not be something big but enough to make her come to my house at 10 pm.

This has to mean something.

My thoughts were interrupted by the sound of a car parking in front of my house, my heart immediately picked up in my chest as I saw it was her car.

I quietly ran to the door meeting her just as she was opening her door.

"Hey," I say, surprisingly not stuttering.

"Happy birthday," she says approaching me and embracing me in a quick hug.

"Thanks, I'm sorry for calling you but I'm really glad you came," I smile shyly. "Come in," I say pointing to the door, it was chilly out.

"Is your dad home?"

"Soph too," I say amusedly. "They're sleeping tho."

"I'd rather not," she says pointing to her car, silently asking if I wanted to come inside it instead.

"Are you sure? I'm pretty positive everything that happens between us is at your car," I say making her roll her eyes. "I'm not complaining," I complete walking to her car and already making myself comfortable on her leather seats.

"The car isn't the problem, you are," she groans as she sat on the driver's seat.

"Am I that irresistible?" I smirk.

"No, you're pushy."

"Would you let me drive it?" I ask ignoring her remark.

"Absolutely not."

"I have a driver's licence."

"That's not the point," she laughs nervously.

"I'm a pretty decent driver," I groan.

"That's not helping your case, Anna."

"C'mon, it's my birthday," I plead, leaning on her shoulder and giving her the puppy eyes.

"This is an expensive car, it already has a dent because of you," she says rolling her eyes at my failed attempt of seducing her.

"Never fix it, it's our story," I joke. "I swear I won't wreck it."

"I swear I'm killing you if you make me regret this," she says throwing her keys at my face and getting out of the car.

I didn't waste time, I quickly jumped on the driver's seat adjusting the seat and the mirrors to my misery of height.

"Oh, my G-d! I'm already regretting it," she says as I turn on the engine.

"Have some faith in me woman."

I reversed the car from my driveway and smoothly drove it down the neighbourhood taking a small glance at Daniella to see her expression.

"Anna, don't take your eyes off the road, I swear this is never happening again," she says in a slightly panicked voice.

"You're so dramatic," I say rolling my eyes, imitating her usual attitude. "Where should we go?"

"Hopefully not to hell."

"It's almost 11 pm so there's not much to see around," I say ignoring once again her sassy remark.

"Also you're in your pyjamas."

"That's not a problem for me," I smirk. "You'd be surprised by the places I went with my dancing pigs pyjamas."

"Yeah but it is for me," she says rolling her eyes. "Just drive us back."

"Boring," I chuckle turning into a street I knew would lead back to my house. "Should we go to the park?"

"Why?" she asks raising one eyebrow.

"It's our thing."

"Our thing?"

"Our special place," I say wiggling my eyebrows. "Like in the movies, if I ever run away crying you know where to find me, you know, seated at the swing on a rainy day."

"What makes you think I would go look for you in the first place?"

"You're ruining my cliche," I groan. "See? Everything is fine" I say as I park it at the same spot it was at my driveway.

"This is still never happening again," she says forcing me out of her car.

Never happening again like the kisses?

"You know that's not true," I say now seated at the passenger seat.

"Don't test me," she says rolling her eyes again. Oh, Daniella, you know I will. "I should go."

"Why?" I ask pouting.

"Because it's late, I'm traumatized and I don't want your dad or Soph walking on us when looking for you."

"You're so boring," I joke leaning on her.

"Well, if I recall it correctly, you seem to be quite interested in the boring person here," she says in the same tone placing her hand on my chest and pushing me away. "Don't think you can get away with it today."

"But it's my birthday and I'm leaving in a few days, pretty please?"

"No, Anna," she says in a much serious tone I knew not to mess with.

"Can I kiss your cheek then?"

"No tricks, Anna."

"I promise," I say leaning on her and placing a light kiss on her right cheek.

"Goodnight," she says softly.

"Night."

...

The days passed by fast, too fast and I was dreading it, I was so not ready to face two of my biggest fears at once, heights and the ocean. And an 11-hour aeroplane trip across the Atlantic Ocean should be considered nothing but torture.

"Anna, hurry up," my dad says entering my room for the nth time that evening.

Tomorrow is Friday and also the last day of school for the Christmas break, and for my dismay, we would arrive at the airport that same night to leave. We had to pack everything today and I was not having it.

"I'm doing my best," I groan, folding and unfolding the same shirt for the 3rd time, I was so nervous my hands weren't working as they should, at the 5th try I just gave up and threw the badly folded shirt inside my suitcase closing it hastily.

"Jeez calm down cowboy, we do this every year, why must you freak out every time?" Dad snickered from the door.

"You're going to hell for making fun of my disgrace."

"Is Daniella going to see you off at the airport?" He asks dismissing my glares.

"Why would she?" I counter-questioned.

"I don't know but it seems reasonable that she won't since she's your teacher and all... Oh, we didn't have that conversation yet."

"Ughh, dad no please," I plead laying on my bed.

"The only reason I didn't pester you with that yet it's because I'd rather not be reminded of my daughter's kink for older and authoritarian women," he says groaning and picking my suitcase and taking it downstairs.

"Dad, it's not a... kink," I follow him saying the last part in almost a whisper, this is so embarrassing.

"Ok, whatever let's stop talking about this," he says when he gets to the end of the stairs and lays the suitcase down near his by the door. "But just so you know, it's illegal to date your teacher so I'm not supporting it until you graduate."

"I know," I say rolling my eyes. "Daniella is not stupid, she wouldn't date me until I graduate even if I asked a million times, I don't even know if she'll want to date me even after I graduate."

"That'd be really sad," he says amusedly patting my back and going for the kitchen.

"Thanks, Dad," I muster, going back to my room, I hate this kind of conversation, it's just awkward and I might be an idiot but I'm not stupid.

Ok, maybe I'm a little impulsive but I know better than to put Daniella's job at risk and I might have kissed her and whatnot but I know my place, at the end of the day she's my teacher and I'll have to wait until I graduate to even think about pursuing something more with her.

Everything is going alright now but we never know if that'll change in the future, after all, I've read too many txs books to know better than that.
