It's Saturday evening and Soph was bothering the hell out of my patience, and honestly let me tell you, I have none.

"C'mon you studied a lot already, let's party!" Soph said basically screaming on the phone. "You promised me!"

"Soph, I have not studied a lot already, can't we go out next weekend?" I groaned, I've lost at least half an hour in this phone call. "If I pass we celebrate and get drunk, if I fail we get drunk to forget we are miserable."

"But I want to go out today!" She screamed, I feel like my ears would eventually bleed from all these screams.

"No," I said hanging up, rude? Yeah but necessary, my life depends on this stupid quiz, it is my way of proving to miss Evans that I'm not a failure and I still had my wish and girl I was going to make it count.

Is nonetheless to say I studied all weekend and the days after, not including the after-school sessions with Daniella and I was actually getting the hang of it, It wasn't perfect but I could finally finish a question in less than 10 minutes and actually get it half right.

Today was Wednesday, one day before the quiz and I was half in the detention period with Miss Evans, I have just finished one of her homework study quiz she handed out today in class for preparation for the real deal and I was waiting patiently for her to finish examining it.

"Well," she said drowning me in anticipation, "I won't tell you what you got, I'll let you see it for yourself tomorrow." She concluded resting the sheet on the table.

"C'mon, that's just plain sadistic."

"You can go home earlier today," she said ignoring me and dodging my statement like a ninja.

"Let me study a little more, please."

"I have never seen you so excited to study." She lifted one perfect brow, well, I just want to spend more time with you actually.

"I really want to pass on this quiz," I said smirking.

"It's good you are being serious about your education," she said sarcastically, "but I actually have to leave earlier."

"Oh, alright," I know where she'll probably head to so I'll obviously take advantage of that. "Do you happen to pass by the hospital? Mind giving me a lift?" I expected a reaction but her face was pretty much neutral. "I have a friend I want to visit," I said growing nervous by her silence.

"Yeah, that's fine." She said simply, no protesting? That's new.

We walked side by side to her car and I could sense she was a little uncomfortable and I was visibly a lot more.

"Is your friend sick again?" She asked to lessen the atmosphere when we entered the car.

"Soph?" I asked, she just gestured with her head. "No, I think you've met him before."

I have actually been visiting Ed quite often, I have grown fond of him and it pained me to see him in such a condition, I just wanted to take all his pain and take it upon myself, he is such a kind man and he doesn't deserve to suffer like this.

"Did I?" She asked lifting one of her brows.

"You don't remember? Do I mean so little to you?"

"Is he your boyfriend?" she asked ignoring my question.

"I don't do boys," I said looking at her silhouette, "Besides, he's like 80 years old."  I chucked.

"Ok, I remember now," she said simply.

"So, do you have one?" Bitch say no.

"A boyfriend?" She asked looking briefly at me.

"Yeah."

"Shouldn't you have asked that before you kissed me?"

"Do you?" I persisted, the hospital was just around the corner and I only have this chance.

"If I had one I would have used it already as an excuse for you to stop bothering me."

"You could have lied If you really wanted me to stop bothering you," I said smirking earning an eye roll from her.

Unfortunately, we were already at the hospital's parking lot and the tense atmosphere came back, we both got out of the car and walked together to the big glass doors.

"Who are you visiting?"

"I'm not telling you that."

"Hey, that's not fair, I told you," I said crossing my arms but she just ignored me. I smiled at the woman at the reception and walked to the elevator as Miss Evans tagged along, "Such a coincidence right? It must be fate." I said as I clicked on the button to Ed's floor and the woman Daniella is going to visit, I'm such a bitch.

"I didn't force you to tell me, I don't own it to you," she said raising an amused eyebrow and leaving as the elevator doors opened.

I chuckled as I walked to Eduard's door and knocked softly on the wooden door, I was rapidly greeted with a "come in, darling." I don't think Ed has a family and if he has one, they never visited, he never really told me but the nurse said no one ever comes to see him, it broke my heart to know he was here alone so I make sure to visit him whenever I can.

I opened the door being greeted by the smell of fresh oranges, "sup?" I said sitting up in the chair in front of him, he was seated by the table playing solitaire.

"Great timing," he said picking up the cards and shuffling them very slowly.

"Don't ask me to play with you, I don't know how that magic from the past works." He chuckled very weakly resting the cards neatly on the table.

"I have news for you."

"Good news?" I asked fearing it would be something about his health.

"Great news," he said smiling. "I met the woman down the corridor, the one your lover visits."

I opened my mouth in shock, first for the 'lover' part, second for the actual content.

"How? Tell me all about it," I said getting excited.

"So..." he was interrupted with a knock on the door. Goddamn why this shit only happens to me? A nurse came in holding a tray.

"Time for your lunch, Mr." The nurse said putting the tray on the table. "Now Miss Krause I'm going to ask you to leave since you always steal his food and he actually needs to eat something at all."

"What? Not fair!" I said crossing my arms but getting up nonetheless. "I'll come by tomorrow, alright? Don't forget about what you were about to say."

When I turned around to leave however I was greeted with Miss Evans waiting for me at the door which was left open by the nurse which also meant she listened to the nurse shoeing me off.

"I'll drop you off at your house," she said in a more soothing voice.

The walk to her car was silent, not awkward, just a very weird silence.

"Who is he to you?" she asked once we went in her car.

"A very dear friend of mine," I said simply, I knew he wasn't going to last very long and I wouldn't be able to take it, death sucks.

Unexpectedly Miss Evans grabbed my hand softly giving it a little squeeze, "he is going to be alright," she said in a very heart whelming voice, even though I knew he wouldn't, her touch and her eyes gave me a renewed hope, not just for Edward, for her and for the quiz. I squeezed her hand back giving her the same reassuring eyes silently saying the same for her as well.

Today I somehow was able to bound with Miss Evans in a way I thought I never would, I could actually make this work.
