Flashback~

                       C O N N O R

I clutched my knees to my chest, as I felt my body shiver with fear. The walls surrounding me were icy, offering no warmth.

I heard the familiar sound of footsteps coming my way. The lock on the door began to turn and my body began to tremble even more. As the door opened it revealed a person, I knew all too well.

"I want you downstairs right now!" My mom ordered, making me scared to do anything else, I nodded in response. Forgetting about one of the rules.

She grabbed my hair, with so much force, I thought she was going to pull it out of my scalp.

"I want you to give me a verbal answer when I talk to you! You're worthless and you deserve nothing! You will treat me with respect. Got it?" She growled.

"I-I'm sorry." I whispered, to which she pulled me up to my feet angrily and walked away.

After a few minutes later, I walked out of the door, keeping my eyes trained to the floor, as small whimpers escaped my mouth. When I made it to the bottom of the stairs and into the living room, I saw Kyle sitting on a couch with a bottle of alcohol in his hand.

"Come here, Connor." He beckoned me, his voice stern and laced with authority. I found it disgusting, I don't want my name to be called by some murderer.

Despite the disgust I felt, I quietly make my way over him, my eyes never leaving the ground.

"Heard you've been disrespectful towards your mom, Connor." He harshly grabbed my chin and lifting it up, forcing me to make eye contact with him.

I hate it. I hate it so much.

I hate the way his rough and disturbing voice, calls out my name.

Second:
I hate the way he forces me to call that women, mom. Even though she will never come close to being my mom

I hate how I always lose my voice in front of him.

"I asked you something!" He shouted, grabbing my hair tightly.

"I-I'm so-sor-ry." I whispered.

He shoved me to the side, my hands automatically going to my abused scalp. But the relief only lasted seconds and my eyes grew wide with fear, when I saw him unbuckle his belt.

With pleading eyes, I looked towards my mom, but she did nothing. Instead she got up from her seat and walked out of the room.

He stood, towering over me, as a cruel chuckle escaped his lips. Clamping my eyes shut and biting my teeth together, I held back a scream, as the belt slashed through my body. Pain immediately flooding through my body, as I felt the walls of my skin ripping open.

He continued to beat me with the belt, the grin only getting bigger as, each strike sending an unbearable serge of pain through my body. On the 6th strike, my body betrayed me and I let out an ear-piercing scream. I slightly opened my eyes to see him fuming.

By the 21st strike, I was crying in pain and pleading him to stop. I know my body is going to give up soon, but I couldn't help but smile at the idea.

"Please.. I can't take anymore." I screamed when he reached 48th strike. Sobs left my mouth and I trembled beneath him. My body felt as though it was on fire and my head feeling light.

"Leave him, Kyle." Mom said and with that he left my 13-year-old body lying helplessly on the ground.

Even though he had left, I was still crying in pain. I could feel the blood was dripping from my back and I could see the crimson liquid dripping from my arms.

"Stand up, Connor." Mom said, nudging my shoulder. It was getting hard to keep my eyes open.

She groaned and picked me up by my waist and I looked at her in disbelief. It wasn't like it was the first time, but she hadn't picked me up like this, since I turned 11.

But that's what she always does. One minute she's beating me up or watching him beat me up until I can't move and the next, she'll take me to my room and put bandage and cream on my scars.

Not because she cares, but because if I die, they won't have a punching bag anymore.

She got to my room and placed me on my bed frame, my eyes were glued shut, but I could hear her rummaging through my drawer, probably for a bandage, or something.

"Why don't you just kill me?" I yelled, with the remainder of my strength. I don't know what her response was, because darkness consumed me.

WHY ME?
