"B-But the school's too far." I stuttered.

"Does it look like I care?" Elliot growled. "Walk!"

Maverick shoved me to the ground and went to get into the car. "Leave him, Elliot!" He yelled, as he got in his car and drove off.

"Walk to school by yourself! I'm not gonna let you sit in my car!" Elliot said furiously, as I quickly stood up.

"I d-don't even know t-the way." I mumbled, clutching my backpack tighter. He let out an irritated sigh.

"Sit!" He ordered, like he was talking to a dog. "I'm only driving you today, cause you don't know the way, but from tomorrow I'm not going to. Got it?" I nodded and jumped into the backseat.

When we reached the school I quickly got out of the car, to see everyone staring at me, again.

What's their problem?

I walked to my locker and took out the stuff I needed for the first period, when a familiar person slammed their locker shut, next to me.

"Hi!" I turned to see Cameron standing beside me.

"Hey!" I whispered.

"Come on, man. Can you speak a bit louder?" He chuckled slightly.

"Hey!" I said a bit louder, as I locked my locker with my combination. He laughed a bit more.

"Cameron!" I turned to see Lucas and Shelby running our way. As soon as they got here they crushed Cameron in a big bear hug.

"Jeez, didn't we see each other yesterday?" Cameron laughed.

"Whatever." Shelby rolled her eyes. I giggled, as Lucas waved at me.

"Should we give it to him?" Shelby asked Cameron, who nodded in response.

I watched as he took out a bracelet from the side pocket of his backpack. He grabbed my wrist and put the bracelet on. I looked down at the bracelet to see it was that is has light blue patterns running through it, finished with a purple outline.

"Welcome to our group, Connor." The three said in unison.

"Thank you!" I said, giving them a full-hearted smile.

"Look, we have one too!" Lucas giddily said.

They all showed me their wrists. Shelby had a red one, Lucas had purple and Cameron had green.

"Wow. It's so pretty." I said.

"Shelby gave it to us in grade 1st." Cameron chuckled.

"You guys have been friends since the grade 1st!?" I asked in shock.

"Yeah. Lucas has been my bud since kindergarten and we met Shelby in the grade 1st." He answered and I smiled.

"We've never taken them off and the whole school knows about it." Shelby told me.

The bell rang and all the students began to rush up and down the stairs, or to their lockers. I began to walk to my first class, American History, when Lucas grabbed my wrist.

"Where are you going?" He asked.

"To the class." I replied.

"What do you have for first period?" Cameron asked, as he shot me a bright smile.

"American History." Shelby let out an annoyed groan.

"I hate that subject." She sighed. "Come on, I have that too." We waved at Cameron and Lucas, before we hurried to our first class.

We made it to the class on time and I took a seat in the middle row, while Shelby sat next to me.

"Why are you sitting with him, Shelby?" I heard some girl ask Shelby.

"He's my friend! Have you got a problem with him?" She asked, as the teacher walked in. The girl snorted in response and went back to her own business.

"Open your text books to page number 43." He frowned. I opened it and sat there, as he lectured us about the subject. From the corner of my eye I could see that some students were using headphones and some on their phones.

Wow! Isn't this meant to be a class?

The bell rang and we walked out of the classroom to be met with a crowded hallway.

"I have P.E." I groaned to myself, as I glanced at my schedule. I guess, it's Physical Education. I've never learned that subject before.

"Don't worry bud, we're in the same class." I heard someone whisper in my ear.

"Cameron!" I jumped around, to find him laughing. "Very funny." I said sarcastically.

"What do you have to do in P.E?" I asked, once he had stopped laughing.

"It depends on the teacher, but mostly he tells us to play Football." He replied, as we headed to the locker room.

"I've never played Football." I said.

"You'll learn." He shrugged.

"No, Cameron. I'm not going." I shook my head and put the T-shirt down.

"I will be there and I can teach you a little too, okay?" I sighed, giving in.

"Do we have to change?" I asked.

"Of course, bud!" He said and began to get change.

Once we got dressed, we walked to our gym class and I noticed that all the girls eyes were on me.

"Hey, CC!" The girl said in a flirtatious voice.

"Hi?" He replied awkwardly. "Oh, Mr. Brown is here." He said, quickly shutting her off, before she could say anything else.

The teacher walked in and eyed all the students. He placed his water bottle on the side and clapped his hands.

I took a step back to leave, but Cameron saw me. He raised a questioning eyebrow at me.

"I don't know how to play." I muttered.

"It's not a problem, that's why we're here." He replied slowly.

"No, I really don't know anything. I'm just going to embarrass myself."

"You're not going to leave and you won't embarrass yourself." He said, as he held my wrist tightly and looked over the teacher.

"Cameron..please.."

"Alright everyone! Gather round, please!" Mr. Brown shouted.

We all formed a circle and I was stood beside Cameron.

"Today we're going to play football and I assume everyone already knows how to play." He shouted, while one guy and two girls raised their hand.

"We don't know how to play, Mr. Brown." They said.

Cameron elbowed me and gestured for me to tell him. I slowly raised my hand up and said the same. He looked over to me and then he took us out of the circle.

"Cameron and Dexter will teach you how to play today, since they're the best players and if you're interested in Soccer, you can go to the coach and admit your name." He said.

"But Mr. Brown, what if we're interested in basketball?" A girl asked.

"You can go and meet basketball coach and admit your name there." He smiled at her. "But you should know the basic skills of football, like passing, receiving, blocking and kicks."

"What's your name?" He asked her.

"Brynn." She answered. He turned to the other guy and asked the same question. His name was Jacob and the other girl was called Autumn. He turned to look at me.

"Connor." I said, while he smiled at me.

He yelled for Cameron and Dexter and when they came over, he started talking with them.

After telling them something, he walked off to the other kids, who had already began to play.

"I'm gonna choose first." Cameron quickly said, beating Dexter to it.

"Connor and Brynn." I let out a relieved sigh when Cameron picked me. We both walked up to him.

"Great. You've left me with the losers." Dexter commented while glaring at Cameron.

"Yeah, like I got Luka Modric." He smugly replied, with a smirk, causing Dexter to roll his eyes and Brynn to laugh, while I just stood there confused.

Who is Luka Modric?

When we started, Cameron first taught us how to kick the ball.

"You're doing great, Brynn." He praised her. I sighed and threw the ball, in anger.

I can't even kick properly, how am I going to learn how to pass and all that?

"Come on, Connor. Don't worry, you're not hopeless, it's your first time." He picked up the ball and handed it to me. "Do it again."

I did it a few more times and on the fifth time I succeeded. To be honest, Cameron was teaching me like I was a kid.

The bell rang and I saw Brynn walked out of the GYM after thanking Cameron, who came up to me.

"You did great, man." He complimented as he slung his arm around my shoulder.

"Thanks to you." I smiled and we started walking to the locker room to get change.

"I guess you're great at sports." I looked up to him, since he is a lot taller than me.

"Yeah, I play basketball and dodge ball too." I gaped at him. "What sports are you interested in?" He questioned.

"I don't know, but I've always wanted to play basketball."

"What's your height, little bud?" He asked me, as we got to the locker room.

"I'm 5'4." I said. I'm not that short for a 13 year old, right?

"I'm 5'9." He smirked.

"Don't you think you're too tall for your age?" I asked.

"Yeah, but what can I do?" He said pinching my cheek. "You're so cute."

"I'm not cute and I told you that yesterday, too." I said sternly, he just put his hands up in surrender. I rubbed my cheek and playfully glared at him, making him laugh.

We got changed into our clothes and left the locker room.
____

I was taking the stuff out for my next period, when somebody slammed my head against the locker. I groaned in pain and turned around to see Dexter and his goons.

"Hi Connor. You did great in P.E." Dexter said, patting my back.

"Thanks?" I said, but it came out more like a question. His goons laughed at me.

I felt something hit the back of my head, hard. I let out a small pained scream and fell down to the floor, holding my head.

Tears brimmed in my eyes, but I wasn't going to cry in front of them.

One of his goons punched my back, but I gripped my head hard. It hurts! Another one of his goons yanked my hands of my head.

"N-o..p-please..Dexter.." I pleaded, as I saw Dexter stepping forward.

"Is he stuttering? Great stutter, Connor." They laughed at me.

Dexter kicked my stomach with full force. I tried to scream, but it was muffled when Dexter quickly placed his hand over my mouth. I wasn't crying, but I could tell the tears were about to stream down my face.

He kicked my stomach a few more times, but as quickly stopped and walked away, when he saw a few students entering the hallway.

I clutched my stomach, as tears spilled from my eyes.

It hurts a lot!

You should just die. No one wants you around.

Now everyone will know, how you're getting treated at school.

Students were rushing to their next class, some gave me pitied looks, while others laughed at me.

I slowly stood up and walked to the boys' washroom. When I got there, I limped over to the sink and splashed my face with the cold water. I looked in the mirror, fixing myself up a bit. Once I was satisfied, I headed to my next class.

WHY ME?

"So, today is Friday!" Cameron stated.

"That means it's funday!" Lucas and Shelby yelled in excitement.

"Wanna hang out with us?" Cameron asked me.

What does hang out mean?

"W-What do you mean?" I asked, they exchanged confused glances with each other.

"Uh, hang out with us?" Lucas tried to tell me. I sighed and got ready to embarrass myself.

What will they think of me? I don't even know the meaning of 'hang out'.

"W-What does 'hang out' mean?" I asked, slowly. Their eyes widened and Lucas decided to speak.

"Have you never-"

"It means, spending time with people you know, relaxing and having a good time." Cameron cut him off and explained, but I could tell, he was just as shocked.

"Oh, thanks." I mumbled.

"No problem. So, do you wanna?" He asked.

"I need to ask my Dad first." I said.

"Okay, text me when you've asked your dad. Bye!" He waved to me, before he drove off with Shelby.

The three had given me their numbers, but I don't have a phone. How am I supposed to do that?

I was surprised when Elliot showed up in front of the school. I didn't expect him to pick me up. I led myself to the car and slowly climbed into the backseat.

"I'm only here, because Dad forced me to pick you up, otherwise I couldn't care less about you." Elliot explained, as he clenched his fist. I just stayed silent.

When I didn't reply he turned around, from the driver's seat and harshly grabbed my face in his hands. He gave me an icy cold glare, which caused me to shrink back in fear.

"Did you heard what I said!?" He screamed and I could feel my palms getting sweaty.

"Y-you don't care a-about me." I whispered. He smirked, pushing my face out of his grip, before he began to drive home.
____

Maverick grabbed my shirt in his fists and threw me off the couch, where I landed on the floor. I could feel the fear begin to rise in me.

"You little piece of shit! Why did you have to barge into my life?" He yelled. I could see that his eyes were flaming with anger.

Before I could even think, his fist collided with my face. He then sent a strong kick to my stomach. One after another.

I was in so much pain, as I laid there, limp.

My stomach was already covered in bruises from this morning, but who cares?

I felt another punch collide with my face. I slightly turned my head to the side and spat out the blood that was now dripping from my gums.

"M-Maverick, please..." I begged as tears started to fall down helplessly from my eyes. I could feel my head becoming lighter and everything around me started to spin.

"You should know one thing, Connor." He shouted, as he angrily pulled me up to my feet and slammed me against the wall. "My dad is sympathetic, but don't EVER expect sympathy from me!" And with that he dropped my defenceless body on the floor and walked out.

I hiccuped, as Thibbault and Elliot entered the room.

"No..not again.." I cried.

Let the torture begin.
