"Jess! I need ice cream!" Eight months pregnant Liv called into the kitchen.

"I just brought you ice cream five minutes ago," Jess stated, through gritted teeth.

"Babe, I want ice cream," Liv smiled, innocently.

"Of course, baby," he sighed, "hey, you gotta get dressed because we've gotta collect the keys at three."

"Well, you get me ice cream and I'll get dressed," Liv bargained.

"Sounds great," Jess said, walking out of the apartment.

After Jess was told he didn't need crutches anymore, the two moved back to the apartment so Lorelai and Luke could live somewhere that they could breathe in.

He walked down the stairs and grabbed a cup of coffee, quickly downing it, "woah, you're not gonna live until your fifty at this rate!" Luke joked.

"No, I'm not, because my completely psycho, hormonal, pregnant wife has been possessed by something...evil, and is gonna end up killing me before then," Jess rambled, quietly in case Liv were to hear.

"She's that bad?" Luke cringed.

"Yeah. Guess where I'm going?" Jess asked.

"To hide?" Luke guessed.

"No. To get more ice cream," Jess exclaimed.

"You came back five minutes ago with a pint of ice cream," Luke laughed.

"Which she must have drunk," Jess said.

"Don't worry, she'll calm down," Luke reassured him, "anyway, how's your leg doing?"

"I can walk on it, but I think I'm gonna be limping for a while. I'm fine, though," Jess told him.

"Not if I carry on talking to you and don't get Godzilla her ice cream," Jess said.

"Go save yourself, Jess," he patted him on the shoulder as he walked away.

Jess went to Doose's, and brought a few pints of ice cream, in the hope that would keep Liv quiet for at least 15 minutes. As he walked out, something small latched onto his leg, making him cringe in pain.

"Doula! Get off Jess' leg, sweetie, he hurt it remember!" Liz exclaimed.

As Doula practically jumped off, he smiled, "it's ok. Hey, mom," he smiled, hugging her.

"How are you, baby boy?" Liz asked him.

"Stressed," he chuckled, "hormones are driving my wife insane."

"Don't worry, honey, I was the same with Doula," she smiled.

"Speaking of," he picked up his little sister, "when did you start walking, missy?"

"When you were off on your honeymoon," Liz told him, proudly.

Jess raised an eyebrow, "it's been that long since I've seen you, huh?" Doula nodded, "I'm sorry, Doula. I've missed you lots."

"And she's missed her big brother," Liz said.

"I'll be round more when the baby comes, I promise," he said, putting Doula down.

"Oh, baby, I'm too young to be a grandma!" Liz joked.

"You and Lorelai, both," he grinned, "I'd better get back to Liv, before she comes storming the streets looking for me."

"You get back to her then. We'll see you soon," she smiled, kissing him on the cheek and going into the store.

As he walked back through the diner, he glanced at Luke, "wish me luck."

"Nice knowing you," Luke replied.

As he went up the stairs, he prepared himself for not snapping at his wife for another couple of hours.

He walked in and she was pacing, holding her stomach, "got your ice cream."

"Babe, I think my waters just broke," she said, stopping to look at him.

Jess dropped the ice cream, "Huh?"

"My waters. They broke," she repeated.

"I'm calling Lorelai," Jess said, somehow calm.

He got his phone and started ringing, "Lorelai, you gotta come: Liv's waters broke."

"I'm coming. Pack her stuff while you wait," Lorelai said quickly, putting the phone down.

"Your mom said to pack your bag," Jess said, faintly.

"Ok, I need a toothbrush, erm, pyjamas, just...ouch!...essentials, you know?" Liv grimaced.

"Right, bag...essentials...got it," he said, walking to the bathroom.

"You know any time today would be great!" Liv shouted at him as a contraction came on.

Lorelai burst through the door, "honey, I'm here!"

"Mom, it hurts...really bad," she moaned.

"I know, sweets. Where's Jess?" Lorelai tried to calm her.

"In the bathroom packing my bag really slowly," she shouted, hoping he would hear her and take the hint.

"Hey, Jess, I'm gonna get Liv into the car, we'll meet you down there, yeah?" Lorelai called.

"Uh huh."

Lorelai managed to help Liv down the stairs and through the diner, where Luke began to pester them, "Livvy, do you need me to come? Are you ok? Where the hell is my nephew?"

"Luke, honey, please let the costumers finish eating, lock up, and come to the hospital, but first make sure your nephew is still conscious and doing what I told him to," Lorelai told him as they walked out.

When they had left, Babette stood up, "I gotta tell Patty, Liv's gone into labour!" She said excitedly, rushing out of the diner.

"Hey, man, I can lock up here if you wanna go," Zack offered.

"Thanks, I've gotta go and get Jess," Luke said, rushing upstairs.

He got up there and went to the bathroom, to see Jess on the floor, elbows on knees and head in hands.

"Jess?" He asked. When he didn't reply, Luke rushed to the window and opened it widely, "Lorelai!" He called out.

"Yeah?" She called back, sticking her head out of Liv's car.

"Go to the hospital, I'll bring Jess in five minutes," he told her.

"We're gone!" She shouted, driving away.

"Wait, where's Jess?" Liv asked, panicked, from the back seat.

"Jess is coming, honey," Lorelai told her.

"I need him now though," she said, sniffing.

"I know, sweetie. He'll come soon," she smiled.

Meanwhile, Luke had run back into the bathroom, "Jess, I need you to talk to me."

"I can't do it Luke. I'm not father material. I mean, look at the excuses for parents I had," Jess panicked.

"You're gonna be a great dad. No one knows what they're doing the first time around, you just go with it. But right now, you have a girl that's about to give birth to your child, and is probably a wreck because you're not there with her. So you've gotta pull yourself together and get down to the hospital, now," Luke told him, quickly, but making Jess regain sense.

"You're right, I'm an idiot. Help me pack her a bag," Jess nodded, standing up.

After the doctor had left after examining her, Liv grabbed onto her mom's hand and looked into her eyes, "where's Jess?"

"He's coming, Luke just text me and they just arrived," Lorelai told her.

"I'm gonna kick his good for nothing ass when he gets in here for not coming with us," Liv groaned.

Lorelai laughed, "maybe we should get baby out first."

"Good idea," Liv laughed weakly, "thank you for being here."

"No problem. Rory and Logan are outside, they wanna be here when she comes," Lorelai informed her.

Liv grimaced as anther contraction came, "they've been great about everything, haven't they?"

"Yeah," Lorelai smiled.

Liv gasped, "oh my god, we were meant to pick up the keys for the house! We thought we'd have another month to get everything sorted!"

"Baby, that's the least of your problems," Jess said from the doorway.

"Finally, you decided to show up," she grumbled.

"Sorry," He said, kissing her on the forehead, "how are you doing?"

"Why don't you have a human try pushing its way out of your vagina, we'll see how you're doing," Liv groaned.

"Yeah, that was a stupid question," Jess chuckled.

"Mrs Mariano? I need to do a quick check as we noticed something in the last examination," the doctor smiled.

Once she had finished her check, she smiled, "I'm afraid the baby is in a difficult position; it's sideways, so this means that a natural birth won't be safe. We're going to have to perform a Caesarian, in order for the birth to be safe."

Liv took a deep breathe and nodded, feeling Jess kiss the hand he was holding.

"I'm going to make sure everything is ready and then we're going to have to take you in," the doctor told her, "don't worry. You're in good hands."

Lorelai grabbed the hand Jess wasn't holding, "baby, you're going to be fine, I promise you."

"I'm scared," she inhaled shakily.

"You're both gonna be ok, babe. I love you both so much," Jess smiled weakly.

"We're going to take you in now," the doctor smiled.

Liv nodded, and Jess and Lorelai stood, holding hands as they watched Liv be wheeled away.

Exiting the room, Rory ran straight up to them, "what's wrong? Where's she going?"

"She's having a caesarean," Lorelai told her, "the baby's sideways."

"What do we do now?" Luke asked.

Jess shrugged, "we wait."

Ok, so I've skipped forward a little. But I really didn't know what to do next, so I felt this was appropriate. Thanks for all of the comments! Xoxo
