Liv woke up, blinking awake, squinting up at her fiancé, "morning," she croaked.

"Morning," he muttered back, absentmindedly.

"Have you spoken to him?" She yawned.

"Nope."

"Are you going to?" She asked.

"Nope."

"Fine, Mr Monosyllabic, but I'm going to make sure that Jimbo hasn't nicked any of my cabbage. Help me into my chair?" Liv asked, sitting up and grabbing her dressing gown, wrapping it tightly around her.

Jess got up and asked her what she meant by cabbage, "It's pirate talk matey."

"Fine," he shrugged, getting back into bed after opening the door for her, letting her out and closing it again.

Liv wheeled herself into the living room, where Jimmy was watching TV.

"Of course you can use my television; my pride and joy; my mother's source of sanity," Liv drawled, yawning.

"I just assumed..."

"I assumed you had assumed that. Let's cut to the chase. What are you doing here Jimmy?" Liv asked.

"She kicked me out. Said I was too flighty, too annoying, she couldn't trust me. I told her she was insane, that made it worse. So she kicked me out. That's that," Jimmy shrugged.

"And I'm assuming "she" is your girlfriend, fiancée whatever?" Liv asked.

"Assuming is your fine point isn't it? And it's ex. Ex-girlfriend," he laughed bitterly, which was followed by an awkward pause in which neither knew what to say.

"You know, Jess was pretty torn up when you turned him away in California. He risked everything, because he thought he could make amends with his dad. I was so angry when he left, no note, no explanation, no goodbye. Just gone. He almost missed my graduation, he missed my prom. I was so angry! And then he was back, and heartbroken and he told me what you did and I was angry at you, not him. How could you turn your son away like that? So I hope that when you came back, you didn't expect him to welcome you into his arms, or me to either. You messed him up, Jimmy. From the moment he was born until that moment in California when he realised what a crappy father you would've been anyway, you'd messed him up," Liv ranted.

"Thanks," he chuckled.

"Do you even care?" Liv asked in disbelief.

"Of course I care! He's my son!" Jimmy cried.

"Then why did you leave him? Huh? If you cared so much, why didn't you give him the chance to get to know his dad?" Liv shouted back at him.

"You know what, I came here for my son, not my sons crazy fiancée who will probably meet someone else in a week," Jimmy scoffed, standing up.

"I've been in his life longer than you have ever been," Liv shouted, "where are you going?"

"Luke's place. Tell Jess to meet me there at 11," he said, walking out.

Jimmy walked into Luke's, and was met with a glare, "what the heck are you doing here?"

"Seeing my son. Guessed it was about time for a father son catch up, you know?" Jimmy shrugged.

"Get out, Jimmy," Luke demanded.

"I want a coffee," Jimmy said.

"The coffees mine," Lorelai popped up from the counter.

"The decafs yours," Luke told her, but turned back to Jimmy, "I won't ask again."

"Why can't I have a drink?" Jimmy asked, innocently.

"Luke, you should really let him have a drink. I think that's classed as discrimination if you don't let him have one. I got fired from McDonald's once for not serving a guy," Kirk piped up from next to Lorelai.

The bell to the entrance rang, "big brother! TJ got stuck and I need a wrench!" Liz walked in.

"TJ got stuck?" Luke asked, nervously glancing from her to Jimmy, who she hadn't yet noticed.

"Doula, she rolled this toy car under the television set and Jimmy reached under to get it because he can't stand to see her cry because then he cries, and then he couldn't move his arm," Liz explained, still not noticing the man sat a few feet away.

"Move the television set, Liz."

"I thought about that, then I remember TJ nailed it to the floor," Liz sighed.

"Ok, I'll get you my toolbox," Luke said, furrowing his eyebrows at Liz' story.

"Thanks big brother!" Liz called. She sat down and looked around the diner, freezing when she saw Jimmy staring at her.

"Hey Liz," Jimmy awkwardly waved.

"Stay away from my boy," she immediately said to him, clumsily gathering her stuff and standing up.

"Too late," Jimmy sighed from where he was sat by Kirk, "that coffee, Luke?" He asked when Luke came out with his toolbox.

"Jimmy, let's go," Jess said from the entrance.

"Look at this! Family reunion huh?" Jimmy scoffed.

"No, we've never been a family since you walked out on us," Liz shouted, "how dare you come here and think that everything is ok? Me and Jess have our own family now!"

"Well your husband seems off his rocker and Jess' fiancée needs a filter," Jimmy smirked, knowing this would rile them.

"That's my daughter you're talking about," Lorelai growled from the counter.

"I can tell," Jimmy muttered.

Jess, having had enough of his dad's games, lunged forward and grabbed his arm, dragging him outside. He threw him out, and Jimmy fell on the ground, laughing hysterically.

"Get out Jimmy. Leave Stars Hollow. No one wants you here!" Jess shouted at him.

At this, Jimmy's laughs morphed into sobs, "I'm not wanted anywhere. Not here, not in California."

"What happened Jimmy? Why are you back?" Jess asked him, sighing.

"I got us into trouble. Lots of trouble. We couldn't pay the rent, but I didn't tell her. No way. So I borrowed money from this guy I found. Said I could pay it back in instalments. So, I went and paid the rent, and the next couple of months in advance. Next day these goons come knocking at the door, saying they were there for the money. I told them I didn't have it, and they threatened me and the girls. She went mad at me, and kicked me out, managed to get the money from somewhere else. I'm not allowed back there," Jimmy explained, still lay on the floor.

Jess sat next to him, "wow. Why won't you say her name?"

"I can't, son. I just can't," he sighed.

"What did you think would happen? When you came here?" Jess asked.

"I dunno. I needed to go somewhere," he sat up, "was it true what your fiancée said? You were heartbroken after California and I messed you up?"

Jess ran a hand through his hair, "just a bit. And her name's Liv by the way."

"Liv. You two gonna get married?" Jimmy asked.

Jess laughed, "eventually. Something keeps coming up though, stopping it from happening. If it was up to me I'd have married her a long time ago."

"You really love her?" Jimmy asked, hesitantly.

"I have done for the past seven years," Jess laughed, awkwardly, "I should get back to her."

"Go. I think I'm gonna go and apologise in there," he looked into the diner.

"You probably should," Jess told him, standing up.

Jimmy watched his son walk away, and got himself up. When Jess was out of sight, he walked away from the diner.

Liv was sat on the sofa, singing loudly to Nothing Else Matters by Metallica, when Jess walked in, turned the music down and kissed her.

"Two weeks today," he said, pulling back slightly.

"What?" She asked, breathless.

"We'll get married two weeks today. It'll give us enough time to sort everything out," he kissed her quickly.

"Jess, what's brought this on?" Liv laughed.

"I was talking with my dad, and he asked if we were getting married and I told him I would have married you seven years ago and I can't wait any longer," Jess told her, quickly.

Liv looked at him for a moment, and Jess' heart stopped, "okay," she whispered.

He grinned and she pulled him on top of her, kissing him softly. He put his hand on her hip and she winced slightly, causing her to pull back in pain.

"What's up?" He asked her, worried.

"My hip. I can feel it again," she whispered, still slightly in pain.

"Does it hurt? Do I need to take you to hospital?" He asked, still hovering above her. God his upper body strength is good, she thought, amused.

"No," she shook her head, "just kiss me."

And he did.

Luke and Lorelai came out of the clinic in shock.

"Did that just happen?" Lorelai breathed.

"Yep," Luke blinked.

"And they're positive?" Lorelai checked.

"I guess so," Luke nodded.

"I have to do it all over again," Lorelai moaned.

"I guess so," Luke repeated.

"I thought this time would be easier, that we were only having one," Lorelai groaned.

"It's not," Luke stuttered.

Lorelai sighed, "not more twins."
