Olivia Gilmore woke up at 6:00. She could hear the faint noise of the coffee machine whirring in the next room, and knew it was her mom in there, because there was no way Rory was awake yet after the amount she'd drunk the previous night.

As she stretched, she swung her leg out of bed and slipped her slippers on (A/N no pun intended. I swear.) and grabbed her dressing gown. Looking at the calendar in her old room, she remembered what was happening today, and lay back down, slowly grinning.

She was getting married.

Jess Mariano woke up at 6:02, his uncle shaking him awake.

"Get up, Jess," he said gruffly before he walked away.

He put a hand to his head, which was throbbing after his drinking last night, and he grabbed his phone. It said he had a voicemail from Olivia.

The woman he was going to marry in 5 hours.

He listened to it, grinning.

He was getting married today.

——————————————————

"Hey, Liv," Lorelai grinned as her daughter walked out of her childhood bedroom.

"Hi mommy," she grinned back.

"How're you feeling?" She asked, putting a cup of coffee on the table for her.

Liv sat at the table after looking in on Rory, "better than Rory. And Jess judging by last night's phone call. How are you?"

"I'm happy. And sad. In the middle," Lorelai told her, "by 12 today, both of my daughters are going to be married. That's scary. It reminds me that I'm getting old," she teased.

"Oh yeah, mom, because 39 is really old," Liv rolled her eyes.

"Uh Huh. I'm happy for you, though," Lorelai smiled, "and I'm so proud of you. You've been through so much; you deserve this."

"Thanks mom," Liv smiled back, reaching for her moms hand.

Just as they were finishing their coffees, Rory came stumbling in, "ow."

"Morning, wild dog," Lorelai laughed.

"Shhhh. Bad head," Rory whispered loudly, sitting down, "you're getting married today."

"Correct," Liv smirked.

"I'm so hungover," Rory groaned.

"Also correct. One more correct answer you win some aspirin," she said.

"You're funny," Rory moaned sarcastically.

"Ding ding ding, we have a winner!" Liv laughed, going to the bathroom to get some aspirin. She came back, and there was a knock at the door.

"I'll get that honey," Lorelai said quickly.

"Nah, I'm up. I've got it," Liv shrugged, going to the door.

"Oh no," Lorelai muttered.

Rory looked up at her, "please tell me you did not invite Dad."

"I'm a bad liar," Lorelai said, guilty.

"Mom, she's going to be so mad! He hasn't got in touch with her since the accident and she's so mad at him!" Rory said, angrily, but quietly.

"I know, I know. I just...He should be here, babe," Lorelai sighed.

Liv almost skipped to the door, grinning. They knocked again, and she called, "patience is a virtue, my friend!" but stopped dead when she opened it to see her father stood on the other side of the door.

"Hey, Ol," Chris said.

She froze, her mouth open.

"Vi!" A voice said from next to her dad.

"Hey Gigi," She said weakly, kneeling down to hug her stepsister, "erm, come in."

They walked to the kitchen, Liv tightening her dressing gown around her.

"Hey, Lor," Chris smiled, "wow, you've gotten fat."

"That's twins for you. 24 years ago, I was this size because of you. Hi Chris," Lorelai said.

"It takes two, Lor," he joked.

"Hi dad," Rory said, stiffly, "Gigi," she smiled, also hugging her sister.

"Rory," he smiled.

They fell into an awkward silence, until Liv cleared her throat, "I'm going to shower."

"Wait, Ol, I need to talk to you," Chris said, walking out with her.

When they were on their own, Liv turned to her dad, "talk."

"I'm sorry for leaving like that. You were in the hospital, and I just...freaked out."

"That's not a good excuse," Liv laughed, bitterly, "Dad, I could have died in that accident. I had cheated on my fiancé, and I was lucky that he wanted to be there for me through that. If he had left me, I would've understood. You, I don't understand. I needed my dad! Just like I have for the past 24 years of my life. Every father daughter dance at school, every break up, every failed exam, I needed you. And you weren't there. You weren't. I get it that things didn't work out between you and mom, but I'm still your daughter. Rory is still your daughter."

"Things were always complicated. I've been through a lot of work stuff. And I'm sorry that I left," Chris said, "you had Luke, though."

Liv began to laugh hysterically, "Yes, I did have Luke. I'm lucky to have Luke, because even before he was with my mom and I was with Jess, he was practically my dad. He was there for me more than you ever were, and sometimes I forgot who my actual father was, which is why he's walking me down the aisle today."

"He's walking you..."

"Yes, because he's my dad," Liv said, taking a deep breath, "look I know that was cruel but it was true and it had to be said. I've kept it in way too long. However, I want today to be perfect. I want my friends to get drunk, the wedding party to give sloppy speeches and to have the greatest day of my life. So today, I'm going to put everything between us aside so I can enjoy it with all of my family."

"I'm happy for you Ol. I really am," Chris smiled.

"Thank you," She said, going to shower.

Sprawled across the apartment were Jess' friends.

Logan was lay on the couch, (Truncheon) Chris was on the floor and Matt on the coffee table. TJ had gone back home, and Luke was downstairs.

Jess walked over to Chris and nudged him with his foot.

"Urghhh," he groaned, "hurts does my head."

"Get up, Yoda. Get everyone else up, too. We need to get ready," Jess told him, walking to the bathroom.

When he locked the door, he pulled out his phone and quickly found the contact he wanted.

"Hello? Who is this?" Her voice came through.

"I'm calling to speak to my fiancée. I don't know if you know her: brown hair; blue eyes; coffee addiction; sarcastic?" He played along.

At that, Liv started to laugh, "you know that could mean either one of us Gilmores?"

"Yeah, but you're the only one who is a fiancée," he shrugged, even though she couldn't see him.

"Not for long."

"How're you feeling?" He asked.

"Overwhelmed. My dad's here," she sighed.

"What?" Jess said.

"My mom invited him," she told him, "I'm not mad at her."

"No," he said, "I guess it's good though? You can make amends?"

"We'll have to see," she sighed, "Did you find Jimmy before you left last night?"

"I called him. Said he's going to Florida for a while," Jess told her, "Dads, Huh?"

"Dads," she smiled, "how are you feeling?"

"Alright. Nervous that something's gonna go wrong," he admitted.

"It probably will. As long as it happens after we're married, I don't care. I mean, a sinkhole could form right beneath our feet and I wouldn't care, as long as we were married first," she said.

"I'd better get to the bridge," he said, "start getting everything sorted."

"It's so cliche," she laughed, "but it's our place."

"That it is. It also has some pretty painful memories though involving uncles and swans," he smirked.

"You say painful, I say funny. I love you," she said.

"I love you too. I'll see you later," he smiled.

"Bye," she whispered, hanging up.

Liv walked out of the bathroom, her hair damp and wrapped in her robe. Her mom was in the living room with Rory, Emily and Paris.

"Hey Grandma, Paris," she said.

"There she is!" Emily exclaimed, rushing to hug her, "I'm so excited for you!"

"Thanks Grandma. Where's Hayley and Lane?" She asked Rory.

But Paris answered, "Lane's drowning in crap filled diapers and Hayley is trying to detach herself from Tristin."

"Poor Lane," Rory said quietly, curling Gigi's hair.

"Sit, daughter," Lorelai commanded, grabbing the brush and dryer, "time to make you look pretty."

"She's already pretty, Aunty Lorelai," Gigi smiled.

"Alright, let's make her look like she's gonna get married," she tried.

——————————————————

At the bridge, Luke and Jess were putting out chairs for the service. The guests were going to sit on the land at the end of the bridge, and the huppah that Luke had made for Lorelai all those years ago was on the end of the bridge, and was where the couple would be standing. It had been decorated with small flowers for the wedding, and suited the look.

"How are you doing Jess?" Luke asked him.

"I'm...nervous, Uncle Luke," he confessed, "she's amazing: way out of my league. She's the strongest person I know, and I don't wanna mess it up because I know she's the one."

"And there was me looking for a monosyllable answer like "great" or "wonderful" not that that has one syllable, but you get my gist," Luke said.

"Oh, sorry."

"It's fine," Luke smiled, "You're not going to mess it up, you know. She's head over heels for you, too, and if you did mess it up, you would experience severe physical pain from Lorelai, Rory, me, her grandparents, Christopher, the entire town and Lorelai again."

"Gee, thanks," Jess grinned.

"I'm just saying, she's a great girl. And she straightened you right up," Luke teased him.

"That's true. She did."

————————————————

"Babe," Lorelai, "you look..."

"Yeah," Chris agreed.

Liv had her dress on with her hair tied up, strands around her face. She had light makeup on: mascara, white eyeshadow, but dark red lipstick that she knew would end up smudged.

"Hey guys!" Luke's voice came through the house.

"In the girls' bedroom," Lorelai called back.

"Woah, Livvy, you look beautiful," he said when he walked in.

"Thanks Luke," she smiled.

"Have you got your things?" Lorelai asked. When Liv looked at her confused, she rolled her eyes, "something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue."

"As if I'm doing that mom," Liv laughed.

"Well, then it's good that I've done it for you," she smiled, standing up, but holding her stomach.

"You ok, mom?" Rory asked, alarmed.

"Yep. Fine," she lied, waddling into the kitchen.

She came back with a bag. First she pulled out a bracelet, "something old. Your dad got me this and another one before you were both born. Rory has one, and this one is now yours," she pulled out a box with a necklace that had a small crystal dangling from it, "something new from Luke and I," finally, she pulled out a clip with a blue flower attached to it, "something borrowed and blue."

"Thank you, mom," she grinned, hugging her.

"Hey, Livvy, I've just got an angry text from Paris, we need to go," Luke said, "Hayley and Tristin got there 10 minutes ago, and Paris said that if we don't leave now, we're gonna be late."

She walked out, stopping to loop her arm through Luke's, "don't let her boss you about. You're a grown man; don't let her take that away from you."

"Angela Lansbury scares me," he joked, making Liv laugh at the reference to the first time he had met Paris.

———————————————————

They made it to the bridge and Liv was taking deep breaths.

First down the aisle went Rory and Lorelai. Then Paris and Hayley. Then went Lane and Gigi (they'd decided to slot her into the wedding party at the last minute) and finally Emily and Richard.

"You ready Livvy?" Luke whispered.

"Time to give me away."

As they walked down the aisle, she looked at the people who had raised her. Taylor was grinning; Kirk looked confused; Miss Patty was eyeing up Luke; Babette was crying.

When she reached the end, her mom was in tears. Her dad was smiling. Her sister was grinning. Her grandparents were holding in their tears.

And as she let go of Luke, and Jess told her, "you look beautiful" she knew that this was it. That this was the beginning of her life.

Hey! So they're not married yet, but they will be in the next chapter! Liv's speech to Chris was dedicated to all the dads who don't do jack for their kids and don't see them for 12 years. Rant over 😂 Thanks for all of the views and votes, keep 'em coming people! Xoxo
