Lorelai had dreaded this day all week.

Friday.

The day before she went dress shopping with her daughter's, Lane, Paris and Liv's friend from college, Hayley.

And her mother.

As her and Luke walked past the cars that belonged to said daughters parked outside the Gilmore House, her mind worked quickly to think of a way to get out of this dinner.

"I've got a pain," Lorelai blurted.

"Same, mines called Lorelai, what about yours?" Luke rolled his eyes, going to ring the bell.

Lorelai grabbed his arm quickly to stop him, "Emily, and she's in there. Actually it's not a pain anymore, it's more of a nagging sensation on my brain screaming 'don't do it Lorelai, don't go in there' and it's so strong I can't ignore it," she rambled quickly, "I'll do anything. I'll organise my shoes better, I'll give you your half of the wardrobe back, I'll stop drinking coffee."

Luke quickly rang the bell while she was going on, and she scowled at him, "and I thought you loved me."

"Yes, and I know that you love coffee, and if you gave it up you'd end up murdering me," Luke smiled.

"True," She muttered, as the door opened to Liv standing there, smiling.

"Hey honey," Lorelai smiled, hugging her. She looked back at Luke, who was froze in his spot, "Come on, babe. You look like you've been hit in the face with a frying pan."

"You're...standing," Luke stuttered.

Lorelai looked down at Liv's legs and gasped, "Oh my God, sweetie!" She grinned, "why didn't you tell me?"

"I wanted to surprise you. And I think Luke's a bit too surprised," she laughed, seeing her stepdad still froze on the doorstep.

"Olivia, close the door and come in here! It's cold!" Emily called from in the other room.

"Coming Grandma!" She called, "come on, Luke."

The three walked into the sitting room after detaching Luke from the doorstep, where Jess was talking and everyone else laughing.

"What're you talking about?" Liv asked, sitting on his lap. Emily opened her mouth to say something, but Liv stopped her, "there's nowhere else to sit."

"Oh yes," Emily mumbled, looking around, "Well Jess was just telling us about your little fiasco," she giggled.

"You're not," Liv gasped.

"I am," Jess grinned.

"Liv, why would you put soup in an oven?" Rory laughed.

"And how have you never had to warm up soup?" Logan asked.

"It's called takeout. And I can't believe you betrayed me like that!" Liv pouted at Jess.

"Well, Olivia, I can't wait for this wedding. You're grandmother and I have had your present for a very long time! Drink Lorelai, Luke?" Richard walked to the trolley.

"Water for us both please, Dad," Lorelai smiled, looking wearily at Emily.

"Coming up!" Richard grinned.

"Do you know what, Lorelai, you three really have found good ones," Emily smiled at her.

"We have, haven't we?" Lorelai smiled at Luke.

"And I can't believe that all of you will be married soon," Emily smiled, in the same way.

"That seems to be the plan," Lorelai chuckled nervously.

"And soon we'll have two more grandchildren. And who knows, great grandchildren, even?"

"Huh, mom?" Lorelai chuckled.

"Yes, Lorelai?" Emily smiled.

"Everything ok?" Lorelai smiled, weakly.

"Everything's fine, Lorelai," Emily said, sipping her drink.

"So, Grandma, are you looking forward to tomorrow?" Rory asked, trying to make things less awkward.

"Yes, I can't wait," Emily said.

"Oh and Liv made sure that they have maternity dresses there too, for you mom," Rory tried.

"That's great," Lorelai grinned.

"I'm going to check in on dinner. New maid," Richard announced.

"Yeah, I'll come too," Lorelai said, following him.

"What's up with mom?" Loralai asked him when they were out of earshot.

"She's just worried," Richard told her.

"Worried? About what?" Lorelai asked.

"Oh, stuff," he waved her off.

"I'm worried about stuff too. The sky falling, a sinkhole appearing beneath my feet, the usual, but I don't drop subtle hints about it!" Lorelai said.

Richard sighed, "she thinks she's going to be left out."

"What?" Lorelai laughed.

"She wasn't there for the girls when they were growing up. She didn't get any say in you and Luke's or Logan and Rory's wedding. Let her have something in this wedding Lorelai. Let her have a role in our new grandchildren's lives," Richard explained.

"I didn't know she felt like that," Lorelai looked down, guilty.

"She does," Richard nodded.

"I'm gonna go back," Lorelai muttered, "oh, and dad? I'm sorry for not letting you be a part of any of it either."

"I forgave you a long time ago, Lorelai," he smiled before walking into the kitchen.

"And then he just leaves!" Hayley exclaimed.

"No!" Lorelai gasped. They were sat in the large dressing room, waiting for Liv to come out of her booth in the next dress.

She'd tried three on, and even though they'd looked great, she insisted that they hadn't been 'her'.

"Yep. Just like that," Hayley shook her head, "so I'm done with him."

"Good. Throw him away like a week old banana peel," Rory nodded.

"Doyle can join him," Paris scoffed.

"Not you too!" Lorelai gasped.

"You girls are so silly," Emily tutted, "find yourself a good man."

"Wise words from Emily Gilmore," Lorelai smirked.

"It's the smaller men of my house that are the problem. All they do is cry!" Lane groaned, "Lorelai, you could've warned me what trouble twins brought!"

"Where's the fun in that?" Lorelai grinned.

"I'm coming out!" Liv called from behind the curtain.

"Hit us sweetie!" Lorelai called.

Liv walked out wearing a white dress with a flowy skirt that ended just above her knees. It had a lacy torso with short sleeves that covered her shoulders. Not too showy, not too shabby.

"Liv, that's beautiful," Lorelai gasped.

"You think?" Liv asked, "It's not exactly, wedding-y."

"It's perfect," Emily said.

"Really?" Liv asked, again.

"Sis, it's the one," Rory smiled.

"Ok," Liv grinned.

"Plus you look hot," Paris commented.

"True, it just screams Liv," Lane agreed.

"Thanks guys," Liv grinned, "anyway, you guys should go and pick your dresses now," she said, walking back behind the curtain.

"Wait!" Hayley shouted, "we need a picture all together," she said, as if it was obvious.

"I'll go and ask the woman at the counter," Lane grinned, running round the corner.

They all gathered together, and Lorelai cried, "on the count of three, shout coffee!"

"Coffee!"

Meanwhile, the boys (Jess, Luke, Richard, Colin and Matt (who had made it down) and Logan) were trying on suits.

"This is so cliche," Luke grumbled.

"What is?" Jess asked, focusing on his tie.

"This. The girls are off trying on dresses and we're here trying on suits. Cliche," Luke moaned.

"We need suits, Uncle Luke," Jess laughed.

"Little Jess here wants to look hot for his girl," Matt ruffled up his hair from behind teasingly.

Jess rolled his eyes, and Richard leaned in to speak to him, "they've forgiven you for the whole 'priorities' business?" He whispered.

"Yep," Jess smiled, brushing down his jacket, "what do you think of this one?"

"It looks like all the others," Luke mumbled.

"I think little Jess looks hot," Logan smirked at Matt.

"Dude, that's wrong," Colin cringed.

"Yeah, never say that again," Jess grimaced, "I'm spoken for by your sister in law."

Jess and Liv met up in the cafe by the two shops, and she hugged him tightly.

"I missed you," she whispered.

"It's been three hours," he chuckled.

"Yeah, three hours too many!" She sighed dramatically.

"Definitely. Logan said I looked hot," Jess smirked.

"Weird, Paris called me the exact same thing," she laughed, "I guess we're just a hot couple of people," she shrugged.

"I guess we are," he grinned, leading her into the cafe.

They sat down at a window table, reading through the menu, "I'm not really hungry," Liv sighed, "I just want a coffee."

"Same," he nodded, waving the waitress over, after they had ordered, he leaned forward over the table, "you find one?"

"A therapist? Alas, I thought so but they said I'm too far gone," she sighed.

"A dress," Jess said.

"Oh that. Yeah I suppose," she shrugged, "I mean, it's not what you'd expect, as in it's not long or flashy with a train longer than it should be. It's...my kind of dress."

"Liv, I'd be happy if you turned up in ripped jeans and tank top," Jess smiled.

"Well if you'd have told me before..."

"But the dress would be nice," he interrupted.

"Well if you insist."

"Luke!" Lorelai called from the sofa, "Luke!" She called again, "Luke!" Nothing, "Butch Danes!" She called, knowing it would annoy him.

"Don't call me that!" He shouted from the stairs, as he ran up to the diner, "what's wrong?"

"I'm hungry," she pouted, to which he gestured downstairs, "but I'm too heavy and my ankles are swollen and I don't wanna move," she complained, still pouting.

Luke closed his eyes and sighed, "what do you want?"

"Yes! Erm I'll have a burger with bacon, and cheese, a plate of fries, a bowl of onion rings and a plate of pancakes, please. Oh and a danish. And a donut. Please," she smiled.

"Good job I love you," He tutted.

"These are the perks of dating a diner man," she shrugged, settling back into the sofa and flicking the telly on.

I updated both stories in one night! Well done me! Don't really have much to say, except I found another GG fic I started writing and forgot about, but I won't publish that until I've done these, mainly because there's no Liv in it. That's it, I'll update soon xoxo
