Liv woke up with her head on Jess' chest to the sound of Ava crying. They had been home for a week now, and Ava had been awake for pretty much all of it. She shut her eyes, hoping Ava would stop, but sighed when she didn't.

Jess began to stir as Liv sat up, and he grabbed her hand, "I'll get her," he said, his voice rough.

"No, baby, I've got it," she kissed his hand before setting it on the bed and walking to the next room.

Liv picked her up from her cot and sat in the rocking chair with her, shushing her softly.

As Ava's cries settled down, Liv gazed around the room, smiling.

One Week Ago....

Jess pulled up outside their house, as Liv looked up at it frowning, "it's not gonna be ready for ages. Where are we meant to sleep? And Ava? It'll take ages to build the bed and crib, it won't be done tonight!"

Jess shrugged, "let's just go and see what we're working with."

Liv sighed, "ok."

They got out of the car and Jess grabbed Ava's car seat. He walked to where Liv was and she leant down to speak to Ava.

"Hey, baby girl. This is gonna be your new house. It's not ready yet, but soon it will, and you're gonna love it," she whispered.

"Come on," Jess smiled, leading her in.

"It's a good job it's just around the corner from mom and Luke," Liv mused as Jess unlocked the door.

"Yeah, at least we know there will always be a babysitter nearby," Jess teased.

"Oh shush," Liv laughed, "your mom and TJ loved seeing her, though, didn't they?"

"Yeah," Jess nodded, walking in.

Liv stopped and gasped, "who did this?"

The front room had been painted a soft magnolia, with light brown couches, a dark brown carpet and a TV set up in the corner.

"Oh, surprise," a voice said from behind. Liv turned to see Logan, "damn, your mom and Luke wanted to be down here when you got back."

"Don't curse in front of little ears!" Liv scolded, "but thank you. This looks amazing."

"It's no problem. It was all Luke's idea," Logan told her, "they're out in the garden with Rory, the boys and your grandparents."

Liv raised an eyebrow, "my grandparents are here?"

"That's why they weren't in when we called at theirs on the way back from the hospital," Jess guessed.

"Come on, let's go and see everyone," Liv grinned.

She walked out into the garden which had a large patio area and a similar sized area of grass.

Emily, Lorelai and Rory were sat talking around the table they hadn't long ago built, and Richard and Luke were at the barbecue cooking burgers. Well, Luke was, anyway.

"Liv!" Emily exclaimed, "we're so happy for you! Where is she? I want to meet her!"

"Hi Grandma," Liv chuckled, leaning down to picked up Ava out of the car seat, "here she is."

"Oh, she's beautiful. What's her name?" Emily grinned.

"We want everyone to be here when we announce the name," Jess said.

"Everyone is here," Emily said.

"Jess' parents and sister aren't," Liv told her.

"I could see if they wanted to come over? I'm sure Doulah will love seeing the boys," Jess suggested.

"Sure," Lorelai said, "I'm kind of fed up of calling my granddaughter 'hey, you' and "little Liv'."

"I'll go and call them," Jess said, stepping away from the group.

"Thank you for doing the house, everyone. Me and Jess really appreciate it," Liv smiled.

"You guys did set up the boys nursery," Luke pointed out.

"But this is a whole house!" Liv laughed.

"Well, we wanted to help," Luke said.

"Thank you," Liv smiled.

An hour later, everyone had eaten their burgers and were having small conversations between themselves.

"Son, are we going to find out her name yet?" Liz asked while holding Ava.

Liv and Jess looked at each other, and he nodded at her. She smiled and turned to address the whole group.

"Everyone, meet Ava Lorelai Gilmore. Ava, this is your family."

Present Day

Liv smiled at the memory, and placed a quiet, sleeping Ava back into her crib. She snook our of the room, and crawled back into bed with Jess, snuggling into his side as he unconsciously pulled her closer to him.

The next day, Tristin walked into the Mariano house, annoyed.

"Olivia, you've gotta talk to her!" He exclaimed.

"Why? What's happened?" Liv asked.

"She got the results but she's decided not to tell me what's wrong, and she's told all of the doctors that I shouldn't be told anything!" Tristin explained.

"Hayley is just stressed. She'll come around," Liv tried to reassure him.

"She hates me right now. I don't know why! Please, find out what's happened? She needs someone," Tristin begged.

Liv stifled a yawn, and Tristin noticed it and took offence, "I'm sorry, am I boring you?"

"No, it's just Ava doesn't like sleep," Liv waves him off, looking at her daughter whose eyes were fluttering closed, "oh, no you don't, baby girl! Day is for being awake, the night is for sleeping."

"Please, Liv? Talk to her? I'll take care of Ava if you need," Tristin offered.

"Are you sure? Jess is doing some shifts at Luke's if you need anything. I'll go and see her. Give me an hour or two and I'll be back. Just let Ava sleep or something," Liv told him, picking up her keys.

"That's helpful. Let her sleep," Tristin snickered.

"I'm tired," Liv defended, walking out.

She arrived at Hayley's house, and knocked on the door loudly, "Hay? Let me in!"

"Who is it?" Hayley called back.

"It's me and you know it is!" Liv shouted, "Come on, you've gotta talk to me."

Hayley opened the door and Liv hugged her straight away. As soon as she saw her, she knew she'd been crying and something was definitely wrong.

"I have cancer, Liv. What am I going to do?" Hayley whispered, still crying.

"First, you're gonna sit down and talk to me. Then, you're gonna go and shower. After that you're coming to my house and you're talking to the man who adores you and will do anything for you, understand?" Liv told her.

She felt her nod, and pulled away, "I just don't want him to get hurt."

"I know, honey. But he loves you, and this is hurting him more than anything," Liv told her.

"Won't this hurt him more?" Hayley asked.

"Probably. But being with you again will make that hurt worthwhile to him. Go and shower, I'll make you a coffee," Liv told her, sending her upstairs. Liv walked to the kitchen and made her way to the kettle. She put it to boil, and poured the drinks, letting them cook while Hayley was showering.

She came down and after they had drunk their coffees, they climbed in the car.

"You ready?" Liv asked.

"Not really," Hayley said.

"Rubbish. Let's go get you back your man."

I might come back to this chapter to edit it at a later date, but I haven't updated in ages and now I'm back at school I wanna keep updating so I don't forget about it. I've started writing a Harry Potter fic. It's an idea I've had for a while now. Would anyone be interested? Xoxo
