===== Chapter 3 [ Part 1 ] =====

12:29, instantly turning to 12:30. You beam to yourself when that single number turns zero. Quickly you place your phone inside your pocket, forcing your gaze away from your lap and onto the strict Per Dev teacher who's standing in front right now.

"Attention!"

Once the president's voice sharply rips out the intensely quiet room, everyone stands up and bids their farewells. The man nonchalantly waves his hand off— his gesture, wanting for all of you to leave.

You smile, grabbing your wallet from your back. You are suddenly caught off guard when Ely from out of nowhere runs towards you, grabbing your wrist and pulling you to the cafeteria. "Where have you been earlier?" your friend asks you. A pout is certainly on her bright pink-tinted lips. Because while you had been hanging out with Peach, she was looking for you.

"Clinic," you reply, quite hesitant.

"Clinic?" Ely tilts her head at you, confused.

"What are you doing in the clinic, (Y/N)? Did something happen to you?!" Immediately, Ely inspects you but sees nothing. Your friend doesn't stop there from being rather concerned. She places a hand on your forehead but feels nothing like a burning sensation. "You're not sick..." Ely thoughtfully mumbles to herself before sending you that curious gaze.

"Remember the girl I saved from the bullies yesterday?" you ask her; she inmediately frowns.

"Yes." She nods. "What about her?"

"So Peach has that cousin who is currently resting in the clinic. And—"

You softly sigh. "She was crying too hard on me earlier, and I could not help but promise to go with her and visit him."

You eventually both enter the cafeteria. Ely's green eyes rest on you. You see that frown still engraved on her lips.

"Whatever," Ely mutters and rolls her green eyes away.

You cannot help but smugly smirk at her reaction. She's obviously disgruntled with the fact that you left her for someone else.

"Are you feeling jealous now?"

She huffs out an air and does not bother to look at you. Chuckling, you can see that she is jealous. "Aw! Don't worry, Ely. You are still my best-est friend ever." Arms wrapped around her body, you smile when you catch a glimpse of the corner of her lips slightly tugging.

"Sure, I am." She rolls her eyes.

After ordering your lunch, you both take your seats at a random table. Not long after, the trio enters the canteen. Upon seeing you, Peach immediately runs to your table. You hear Ely silently groans beside you, causing you to snicker.

"(Y/N)!" Peach screams in excitement.

"How is Kielle?" you ask her. Ely does not know if she'll greet the newcomer with a hi but decides to remain quiet and eat her own food when Peach does not bother to turn her blue eyes to her.

She rolls her blue eyes instead. "He's fine. Let's not talk about that silly cousin of mine." She frowns then smiles again, suddenly tugging your arm and forcing you to go with her. You are shocked and almost allowed her when Ely yells out in dismay.

"Hey! You're being rude!! Can't you see (Y/N) is eating with me?!" Ely glares at her.

Shocked by Ely's exclamationsx Peach drops her hold on you. As if she only realized your friend, she tilts her head and asks her identity. "She's eating with you? But excuse me. Who are you? Why would (Y/N) eat with you?"

Ely grits her teeth but replies, "I'm her best friend."

Even emphasizing the "best friend" part. Obviously your best friend's offended by Peach's question. You do know that you have to step in before a nasty cat fight can even begin to brew between the two girls. You smile and nod, confirming Ely's words to the confused girl.

"Oh..." Peach mumbles, quite speechless.

"Oh," she says once more before leaving you alone with your friend. You raise your eyebrow as you see the blue-eyed girl return to the two guys; her expression looks too disappointed and sad. But why would she be? Did Peach really think you only have her as your friend?

Ely harrumphs, sitting down. "What's with her?"

"She's so weird."

You sit down and stare down at your unfinished blueberry cheesecake. Deep in thought, you process what happened. Sipping on your pearl milk tea while you later mindlessly chew the pearls within your mouth.
