Dimitri

Weightless.

I was weightless.

I had no incline to open my eyes at all. I just felt inner peace wherever I was.

I must be dead.

There was no other explanation for it other than the fact I knew I was no longer 'alive' anymore.

I was drifting.

Completely content with just remaining in this floating and uncompusmentus state. That was, until I felt something surround me. Almost like an invisible rope that surrounded my heart and kept me tethered to something, or someone. Someone was using this rope to pull me towards them. At first, I was unwilling to accept this pull.

But then I heard it.

I heard their crying and the mention of my name. Who ever it was, needed me, and I felt a strong urge to protect them. I felt droplets of what felt like rain upon my face but this seemed to have awoken me from my stupor.

Violet.

Pup.

I remembered them.

I love her.

The feeling was so strong that my chest was sore at the revelation. Of course I loved her. She was my mate and I could have sworn that I heard her say that she loved me too.

But was it possible?

My mind was cloudy and I was forgetting her face. What did my mate 'look' like? I knew her name but the memory of her was beginning to fade. But I could have sworn I heard her say the words. After everything I had done to her, was I worthy of that love?

Did I imagine it?

It was most probably likely that I did and I felt an overwhelming sense of pain at that thought. I just wanted the darkness which surrounded me to keep me but I attempted to open my eyes just a smidge for one last time and I saw a flaming ball of Violet light in the distance.

A beacon of sorts.

It wanted me to go towards it and the voice I could hear crying was coming from that ball of light. It was her. I'm sure of it. I found myself floating towards it. Wanting to be close to this light which was in so much pain. When I finally reached it, I felt its warmth envelop me... and then...

Nothing.

"Alpha... please wake up!"

"Alpha, the pack needs you"!

"The Luna needs you"

"Please"!

The new voice was desperate and filled with unbridled fear. Was it my Gamma speaking? I couldnt place the voice but I knew they were my friend.

I had to wake up, but how? A blanket of sleep and tiredness was keeping me under this comfort of blissful ignorance and unconsciousness. My fear of what I would find if I woke up kept me in this state.

But still... I had to keep trying.

Violet

"Warriors of RedFang"!

I turned to the male werewolves behind me. Those who were still loyal to the Alpha and our pack. There was around seventy wolves left of our army and I knew that they were unable to fend off this many of the Rogues. So I had to use them to defend as opposed to attack. Most of their restraints had been removed with my power but they stood tall, waiting for my command.

"Release the other Alpha's and create a circle of protection around our women and children. No one allows that circle to break. Defend them with your life and protect what is left of our pack"

A few of them rushed towards the pillars where the Alpha's were being held. The Rogues infront of me not daring to move even an inch.

"Gamma Gavin" I called.

His head shot up towards me from his position on the floor where he was protecting his Alpha.

"You are now promoted to the role of Beta and it is your duty to lead the male warriors and protect the women and children. You are also tasked with protecting your Alpha. Do you understand your command"?

When Gavin nodded to me I instantly recalled a time when we were younger. Gavin was the same age as Dimitri and he never took part in the same bullying antics that my own peers did. But I was reminded of a time that James and his friends had pushed me to the floor and stamped on my stomach one day after school. Gavin had rounded the corner at that moment with a few of his friends. He had knocked seven bells of hell out of James and warned him to stay away from me. He said that women were meant to be protected by their male wolf counterparts and not abused. I remembered how he helped me to stand and offered me his school shirt to wipe away some of the cuts which had formed from the assault. He had left soon after that, but the abuse still continued with James and his friends. His kindness on that day however, was etched into my memory. When I saw him gulp with the gravity and weight of the new 'role' I had just bequeathed him with, I smiled at him.

"If anyone was made to be a Beta, it was you". I confirmed.

His eyes softened as I think he too recalled that moment from our past.
His eyes hardened with certainty.

"I wont fail you Luna".

Turning around to face off against the Rogue King and his wolves who had already formed a line in front of him, I narrowed my eyes. I felt the brush of shoulders against mine and I turned to look at those who stood beside me.

"Dad, Kieron... you should both join the the rest of the warriors. They will need you to protect the women".

"I'm not leaving your side sweetheart and neither is your brother" said my father.

Turning towards my brother he gave me a proud smile.

"This is ALL of our fight. Not just yours little sister".

I gave them both a small smile and noticed three others join our line next to my father.

"You have our support as well white wolf".

Alpha Byrant said, as Alpha Jullian and Alpha Cain stood shoulder to shoulder next to him. All six of us Alpha's standing together. The last leaders of the remaining packs, fighting for our freedom and our liberty.

"What is the plan Violet, are the packs coming to our aid"? Asked Alpha Byrant.

"What time is it"? I asked no one in particular.

"Just gone noon I'd say".

Said Alpha Cain and my shoulders dropped slightly.

"What is it"? Asked Alpha Jullian.

"I think we're on our own" I said despondently.

"RedFang is the last stronghold for our people. Not one of these mutherfuckers can leave this field alive today. For If they do, our people will suffer for it".

"Beta Gavin" I called.

I watched him rush over to me and I lowered my voice as I turned away from the Rogue King's prying ears. Only our small Alpha circle could hear us.

"There is a small tunnel that was built into the mountains of the Eastside of this territory. Do you know which one I speak of"?

He nodded as his eyes lit up.

"I need you to lead the pack to those mountains and get them to safety. You can take all of our warriors and the remaining Alpha's with you".

My father grabbed a hold of my arm fiercely.

"What are you talking about, we will all stand here and fight with you".

I sighed.

"Dad, there are far too many of them. I can keep them at bay with my power for long enough. You and the other Alpha's have to protect the rear of RedFang. Get them to the Moonlight camp and create a stronghold there. Our people's survival and very existence is at stake".

"Dont think I'm not aware of what it has cost you bringing Dimitri back to life. Your power is almost depleted. I lost your mother, I won't loose you too". His eyes were firm and I could see that there was no use in fighting with him.

"We will stay also" Alpha Cain spoke for the remaining Alpha's.

"And me" spoke Kieron.

"No"! I said a little too loudly.

"You must protect your mate Peggy and lead the remaining warriors to safety with my pack. I protected your mate and now it is time for you to protect mine". I said to Kieron.

He looked over his shoulder to my mate still lying on the floor. I continued..

"If something happens to the rest of us, you two are the last remaining Alpha's who can stand against them. You need to live".

My voice broke slightly at the end and my brothers face looked ashen at the prospect of leaving behind his father and sister. Unexpectedly, I was engulfed in one of his bear hugs.

"I love you sis". He said.

I grinned.

"I love you too big bro... now go".

I pushed him away from me and his face crumbled as he looked to the Rogue army behind me. He was torn it would seem as he looked towards a crying Peggy who was currently clutching the legs of Milly and Luna Farah.

"Son"?

Kieron turned to look at our father. Alpha Kiron placed his hands on my brothers shoulder.

"I, Alpha Kiron of the Moonlight Pack hereby relinquish my title and pass on my line of succession to my son. You, Kieron Hayes will lead our people with faith, courage and strength. I will respect and honor you always Alpha Kieron of Moonlight".

Kieron took a step back by the emotion he felt at our father finally passing over the title of Alpha to him. Kieron looked to me in shock and I smiled.

"You're ready brother" I said.

He looked back to our father and hugged him gratefully.

"I love you son and I have always been proud of you. It is time you took the reigns and lead our pack". Said Alpha Kiron.

Whilst my family spent a few moments together saying goodbye, I sent a friendly smile towards Farah as she thanked me for saving her life. She then turned to kiss Byrant goodbye and my smile dropped when Milly walked towards me hesitantly. She was clutching her new born pup tightly to her breast and my stomach bounced slightly as the child got closer. Placing a soothing hand over my stomach to calm what must have been my nerves, I looked into the face of her son. Avoiding eye contact with her as much as possible.

"He'll be a little heartbreaker I'm sure of it". I said as more of a way of breaking the ice between us. The friendship had been ruined irrevocably but I was trying to be mature and bid her farewell, as a real Luna should do.

Sniffing him, I noted something strange.

"What is it"? She asked.

My face turned stiff. Not quite able to remove my jealousy.

"Is he definitely James' son"? I asked whilst also taking the opportunity to look between my unconscious mate on the floor and this child in front of me. Looking for any similarities I could find.

She nodded firmly.

"He is" she said.

"He has Alpha blood in him" I stated.

Her eyes widened and she looked down towards him again. She clutched him to her even tighter as she sniffled and then looked back up towards me again.

"I'm so sorry"

I nodded and my face sobered as I knew she was referring to our friendship.

"I have already forgotten it. Just survive the trek through the mountains. Listen to Beta Gavin and protect your pup".

She nodded as Kieron placed his hand on her shoulder to bring her back towards the group. Looking over to Dimitri one last time I spotted a few of our warriors lift him off the ground. My brother smiled at me and went to help the others who were carrying my mate. Walking over to him, I brushed his dark locks away from his eyes affectionately.

One last touch.

One last look.

I watched as the pack and my mate all began to move and I turned back to the remaining Alpha's as they stood off against the ever growing Rogue army. The Rogue King must have pulled in more of his rogues from the border in order to finish this fight. It might mean that my pack could get to safety without too many rogues blocking their way. Maybe even the Beta's would be able to get through now too? I hoped to the Goddess they had not forsaken us.

Stepping in front of the Alpha's I directed my gaze towards HIM.

"Anyone, who wishes to harm my pack will have to go through me". I spat.

The Rogues shifted one by one and I did the same. Allowing Layla to take full control for the first time was a major relief and my white wolf towered over the rest of the wolves in front of me.

Byrant, Cain, Jullian and my father all shifted too and we stood in front of the RedFang pack as they made their journey through the forest to safety.
Deciding to put in place a protective barrier just incase a few rogues managed to side step us I galloped behind the other growling Alpha's and ran along the opening strip of the woods behind me. Layla's paws glowed violet and in their wake they left a line of burning violet flame which acted as a barrier. Blocking the Rogues in front from pursuing my pack. When Layla was happy with our work she trotted back to our space in the middle of the other Alpha's. Waiting for their attack.

"All you have done is buy them a little more time my dear. My wolves will catch up to them and they will make easy meals for us tonight".

Layla growled and snapped her white jaws in response to the 'King'.

"I can see now that you have made your choice and I do believe you Violet when you say you will try to kill us all. You're a Luna who keeps her promises, but I have a habit of keeping mine too".

My fathers wolf growled and Bryant's followed suit. All of them baiting for his blood like me. The Rogue King grinned.

"If I can't have you then no one will"

The Rogue Kings eyes turned a feral white and he stood from his seat. Withdrawing a vial from his pocket he held it high above his head so that I might see it from this distance.Towering above his teeny tiny wolves, Layla sniffed the air and whimpered suddenly. She took a few steps back and I found confusion, fear and trepidation in her jumbled thoughts.

"What is It Layla"?

Her jaw rattled uncontrollably and the rogues infront salivated at her fear.
My fathers wolf and the other Alpha's turned to me with worry in their wolves eyes. The Rogue King explained.

"In my hand is my contingency plan Violet. When I killed your mother, I took this vial of her blood and kept it with me just incase you ever turned against me. You see Violet, I always knew I would have an issue converting you to my cause. If you cannot become my Queen then I will wipe you out myself. Today, I'll use the very thing the Goddess gave you to use against me".

My eyes widened as he opened the vial and drank from it.

"Your white wolf's power"! He confirmed. His voice was distorted as his body ingested my mothers blood.

Inhuman.

Layla's heart beat rapidly and I struggled to get through to her. She was terrified and so was I, as myself and the other Alpha's watched in absolute horror as his skin started to morph and he twisted at awkward angles. The Rogue King shuddered and rithed as my mother's blood began to change the very fabric of his DNA. Turning him from that of a normal wolf into a 'hybrid' white wolf. His rogues growled, waiting on his command. When the Rogue King finally stopped his uncomfortable twisting I knew that the blood had now settled into his system. His head shot up unexpectedly to make direct eye contact with me.

His once yellow eyes were now a burning red and his hands started to glow red with unbridled power. The white wolf's blood was meant for those who were loyal to our Goddess, if it was consumed or taken unwillingly and used by those who opposed her or wished ill will on our kind, the power became twisted and evil.

Layla's ears dropped and I felt her strength wane. There was no chance in hell I could defeat him now. My father brushed against my side and I looked into his wolf's eyes.

Strength.

He was silently telling me that I needed to be strong. It was time for a little internal pep talk.

"We can do this Layla. We have too".

"I dont think I can Violet"

"You have too. If you dont, our pack will die".

Her wolf's breathing slowed and she stared straight ahead.

"Come on Layla, the Goddess has trusted us to defeat him and we will".

She rooted her paws into the ground and her legs strengthened.

"For my mother Layla, I need us to defeat him for her and for our pup".

Her eyes focused and I could tell I had finally reached her. The Rogue King stood and his once very large form seemed to have grown even bigger. If I had of been in my human form I would have gulped.

"KILL THEM AND THE REDFANG SCUM"!

He boomed his order across the field and the Rogues attacked as one. I looked towards the area of the field in which Gamma Trevor and Eric was supposed to be, but no one was there.

I guess we were truly on our own.

As the first Rogue reached us, Layla tore into his throat mercilessly. Byrant took down a few rogues situated on my right as my father tore a path through Rogue's on my left. Jullian and Cain were working as partners as they both covered my rear from attacks behind.
They were all giving me the space and time I needed to make my way towards the REAL threat.

Charging through the rogues in front of me Layla clawed and snarled her way through them quite easily. Her paws glowed with light and every blow we made to a Rogue seared through their flesh. We were by far the largest wolf here and all of them were easy prey. I would occasionally swing my mussell to the side to check on my fire wall. No rogues had crossed the line just yet, thank fully!

That meant that my pack still had time to reach safety. I could only rely on myself now to end this. Kill the Rogue king and I can mentally control the rogues.

But there were too many of them. As Layla took down four, eight more would appear in their stead. They multiplied like gargoyles and my fathers warning was correct. My energy had been depleted and I was fast running out of physical and mental energy. At this rate I would be like an ant by the time I reached the 'King'. Powerless and easily stepped upon, crushed beneath his feet with the lives of my pack at his mercy.

And I knew he would show them none.

Charging over the heads of the Rogues, I left the other Alpha's behind in the fray as I finally made my way towards the King. He grinned and Layla's fur bristled in anger. A want and a need for justice.

The time had finally come.

It was up to me now to end this and Goddess be damned...

I would gladly suffer whatever the cost might be.

Brie

Leaving Alec and his wolves at the outskirts of the southern border to RedFang, I waited in the trees high above the heads of those below me. All of them, completely unaware of my presence.

Wolves.

Centuries have passed and they still never learn. I can be invisible if I want to be and right now was one of those times. There was a reason why my kind were feared by them so much. Only fools would underestimate us and these fools thought themselves safe in their lands. There was a reason that my kind were at the top of the food chain. Wolves knew nothing about hunting for their prey.

Not like I did.

Not once suspecting that a Vampire could be preying on them I watched with quiet satisfaction in the trees. My movements were languid and I hovered on the wind like silk. I was careful to not give away my position as I listened intently to the conversation below me.

This council were not so alien to me. In all of my long years on this earth, this was not my first time being in their presence. I remembered their worn faces like it was yesterday. Almost fifty years had passed since they signed the truce
