Nathan laid in bed with me after the event. His hand layed on my belly as he counted the kicks.

"He's coming back to you isn't he, Doc?"

"I don't know, Nathan. I'm not even sure I can forgive him." I answered.

"The governor is going to call off the wedding. I'm sure he realizes the bad press he could get for this, and Greg will be free." He informs me in a sad tone.

"That doesn't mean Mr. Masterson doesn't have further plans for Greg. Hell, he could have lines of women who would want to marry his son."

"I think you've already forgiven him, but you're just stubborn." He said.

I didn't respond.

"He deserves a life with you."

"How does that make you feel?" I asked.

I really don't want to hurt Nathan. I've realized I've used him and sex as a coping mechanism. It worked with Greg when I was so broken over Braden, am I any better than Greg?

"Well, we both knew this would probably happen. I have a ton of work waiting for me in California."

I sighed. "You didn't answer my question."

"Fine, my heart is screaming to never let you go. I admit, I didn't expect to have so many deep feelings for both of you, but we don't have what you had with Greg. I'll miss you, and damn I'll miss the sex, but it's not what matters. What matters is what's most important, that's you and this baby. You deserve a man that loves you deeply, and this baby deserves it's real father."

"You're a kind soul Mr. Stark."

"Don't think I won't be coming for visits. I want to be involved with this baby's life, it's birth, baptism, first communion, confirmation, graduation, and everything that comes after that. If Mr. Moneybags has a problem with it, too bad." He said.

"You'll be there, Nathan. No matter what, you'll be there." I assured him.

We finally fell asleep, then had to get up for the stupid meeting with the Governor, my father, and the Mastersons.

"I don't even understand why we have to meet with them, anyways." I complain.

"They're trying to figure out how to deal with the press, and don't think your father didn't threaten to expose them. I personally worry most about Grace, and I could see her going to the press if she doesn't get what she wants. She has a reputation as Kentucky's little sweetheart, but the girl is spoiled and just wants Greg's money and last name." Nathan said.

"He said he would walk away from all the money for us." I rubbed my belly. "He's just not willing to give up all those jobs for people he promised. I know we need them, it's evident especially around Lexington, so I can see why it would be devastating to thousands of people." I groaned in frustration.

We stepped off the elevator and walked into the conference room where breakfast was setup.

"Food!" I got all excited, and I guess everyone else heard me. Most laughed, except Greg's father and Grace.

Nathan led me to a chair. "I'll get it, Doc." He kissed my temple, and that's when Greg walked in and paused next to me.

"Morning, Bella." He kissed my head and rubbed my belly. Grace scoffed, and I could see her anger.

"How is my baby this morning?" He asked.

This is uncomfortable.

"Active, it smells food!" Dad laughed at me.

"I even requested peanut butter." Nathan set down my plate and took a seat next to me.

"Baby loves you!" I was excited to dig in, but nobody else is eating. They're all crazy, I could eat it all!

All eyes were on me when I shoved a huge bite of pancake in my mouth. "What?"

My family and Greg's mom laughed.

"I always craved crushed ice when I was pregnant with Greg." His mom smiled at me.

"She does too. I had to buy an ice machine just to crush the ice perfectly at home. Don't get me started on the peanut butter and celery, and before that, it was chocolate chip pancakes. I found myself flipping pancakes at 3 am at one point." Nathan laughed.

"Do they have chocolate chip pancakes?" Now he's got my attention.

He groaned. "Probably not ready." I gave him puppy eyes.

"Dammit, Doc!"

He stood up to leave the room, mentally slapped himself, and cursed under his breath.

"You're high maintenance, Bella." Greg smiled at me.

"Not usually, but you don't even understand the struggle." I shook my head, and Mary laughed.

I noticed I only had water in front of me, so I gave it a sad look. "What's wrong?" Greg asks.

"No juice? Who doesn't serve orange juice with breakfast?" I went to stand, but Greg put his hand on my shoulder. "I'll get it."

Blair started laughing.

"What?"

"My niece had two incredibly gorgeous men acting as servants."

My dad laughed. "The most independant girl on earth too."

Whatever...

"You guys can start your little senseless meeting about my life now, I'm busy." I smiled, and dug into the potatoes that has my mouth watering.

"Aren't you scared you'll stay fat and ugly after the baby, since you look like a pig?" Grace turned her nose up at me.

"She could be 300 pounds and still be prettier than you." I heard Greg, as he set my juice down.

"Hey, no need to put my daughter down!" The governor snapped.

"...and what did she just say about my daughter? My daughter is beautiful and bringing life into this world, and young lady, you'll never hold a candle next to her. She's natural, and your hair even comes from a bottle, so you'd do best to keep your opinion to yourself!" Dad is pissed.

"How dare you..."

"Grace, shut up!" The governor snaps again. "Dr. Benton is a beautiful woman, so stop with the cheap shots at her, you only make us look worse."

I had to laugh and everyone looks at me.

"I'm a grown woman, and I don't need defending. Ya'll sit here like we are children, and you're deciding our futures. Not one person at this table will decide my future, only I will do that, and my father knows better than to try. I think we were here about cleaning up your mess, Mr. Masterson, Governor?" I asked.

"You're right, Dr. Benton. We are here because I want out of our agreement, Masterson. I won't be selling my daughter just to be in your back pocket. I can win the election for Congress without your money." Governor Powell speaks.

"Then you lose all those jobs, they'll be sent to Asia." Masterson responds.

"That won't look good for your image, and with the republicans in office, you will be fined heavily. Is that really worth it, over not having one congressman in your pocket?" My dad asked.

"Nobody defies me General Benton, and I'll ruin your campagne!"

"How is that? Because people presumed Mr. Stark is the father, when it's actually your son that was blackmailed and lost what mattered most to him? The fact that he sacrificed his own happiness for the sake of this state? Your son is my ticket to D.C., and there's no way we would look bad to the voters." The governor is trying to save his own ass.

Masterson laughed. "Losing the largest possible employer in your state before you even take office?"

"That'll be my loss. Since I made a deal with the devil, he brought your business in, and I lost your business." Powell responded.

"I've called for a meeting with the board of directors Monday morning, Father. I leave tonight, and everything you've done has been recorded." Greg placed his phone on the table, and Mary smiled ear to ear with pride.

"Either I marry the mother of my child, or you face federal charges, you and Powell both."

"You're marrying me, Greg!" Grace yelled.

"I'm not marrying you, Grace. You've known all along I didn't want you."

She reached across the table and slapped Greg, then pointed at me. "You are nothing but a whore who rolls around in filth on that stupid farm. It wasn't enough that you drove your ex to drinking and killing an entire family, you have to fuck with me too?"

That did it!

Stephanie just walked into the room, and suddenly was holding Grace by her hair.

"I've had enough of you! You're a disgusting slut who only cares about money!" Stephanie throws photos on the table.

"These were taken a week ago by a friend of mine in Louisville." Stephanie pushed Grace down in her chair.

Grace starts to cry like a baby, and I just kept eating.  The drama in this room is worse than a daytime soap opera.  I don't have time for this, I have a plate in front of me.

"Dad?" Greg starts laughing and Mary's jaw drops.

"You had daddy Masterson as your back up, huh? I'm just glad I held on to these till we were all in the same room." Stephanie laughed.

I looked at the photo, and it's Greg's dad sitting in a car and Grace riding him with her head thrown back.

"I think I'm going to be sick." Mary said and ran toward the bathroom, Greg chased after her.

Greg's dad grabbed at his arm, pale and sweating, then he fell over onto the floor.

"Call 911!" Nathan yelled, and ran to the older man.

I kneeled down and took his pulse, he's cold and clammy. "It's a heart attack!"

Grace, being a drama queen, stood in the corner screaming. Dad's on the phone with 911, Greg and Mary are still out of the room, Nathan is undoing the man's tie, and the Govenor just sat there with shock on his face.

My stomach turned when I saw Lance sitting there with a smirk. "Karma is a real bitch!" He said, before he looked at Grace. "You never know when she's coming."
