I walked into an open room, it's large, but empty. The view from the picture window was beautiful. Lexington is small, but the rolling hills and buildings make it beautiful.

I leaned against the wall and rubbed my bare arms. I am yet again having a shitty night. One glass of champagne is enough after the whole debacle in London.

"So, when do doctors moonlight as flight attendants?"

I turn and see him standing in the doorway. "Mr. Masterson." I turned back around and took a deep breath to calm my nerves.

"So?" He asked.

"So what?"

"Isabella, look at me."

"No." I shook my head.

He walked up behind me and gave me a chill.

"Why did you run away from me that night? I'm sorry about.. about taking you that way. I can tell you've never done that kind of thing. Hell, I've never done that kind of thing." He said.

I shivered when he placed his hand on my bare shoulder.

I closed my eyes at his touch. I remember how that felt, him touching me.

"I was drunk." Is all I said.

"You weren't that drunk." He responds.

"Look at me." He moves around to stand beside me.

"I tried to find you after that night, and I had no idea he was your father. He, of course, had photos, but you're a grown woman now." I try to look in the other direction.

"Isabella, don't avoid me. You are going to have to get used to seeing me around."

I turn my head and look at him.

"Why?"

"I'll be staying with your father while we build these plants."

Great!

He runs his fingers down my back lightly. "Why did you run? I didn't...I didn't want it to be like that, you deserved better."

My lips part. I want to answer him, but I can't, not the way he wants me to answer.

"What do you want me to say?" I asked.

His blue eyes soften and look into my brown eyes.

"The truth."

"I ran because I felt dirty. I have only let one man touch me that way, and I'm not a whore." A tear went down my cheek.

"I never thought you were."

I closed my eyes and shook my head. "It's over and done. Good luck with your plants, and I hope you enjoy Kentucky." I turned to leave, but he wrapped an arm around my waist and stood behind me. He leaned down to my ear.

"You feel it too, just like on the plane, then the club." He moves my hair away from my neck.

"What do you want?" I asked.

"Just to know you." He whispered in my ear, and I shivered.

I jumped back into reality.

"You have a date Mr. Masterson, and my father is probably worried." I pushed myself away from him and left him standing in the room alone.

By the time I reached my father, he was worried.

"Where did you go? Is everything okay?" He asked.

"Yes, just needed some fresh air." He squeezed my hand, and that's when I saw Hal dancing with Greg's date. I almost laughed.

"That friend of yours is something else." Dad chuckles.

"Yeah, but he's a good friend when you need one," I said.

This is true.

"I want a dance with my lovely daughter." I smiled, and gave him a nod.

"What do you think of Greg Masterson?" Dad asks.

"Why?"

"Just wondering. He's a good man, Bella."

"I already..." I take a deep breath and sigh.

"It'll get easier baby girl." He kissed the top of my head.

"I hope so, Dad."

He swayed me to the music, and I've never felt safer in anyone's arms than I do in my dad's.

"Your mother would be so proud of you." He smiled at me.

"You mean my chaotic life?" I had to roll my eyes at the sarcasm.

"You've done everything you've set out to do, Bella. You got an education, you're a vet, traveled the world, and now bought your farm. It may not be exactly the way you wanted, but you are still following your dreams. I'm so proud of you."

I smiled. "Thank you."

"Excuse me, may I cut in?" Dad smiles ear to ear. "Of course young man." He pats Greg on the shoulder, then walks away.

"You're relentless," I say, as he pulls me into his arms.

"I know what I want Isabella."

Is he serious?

"What if what you want, doesn't want you?"

He smiled. "Oh, I don't think that's true."

He swings me around and pulls me into him tighter.

"You read minds too?" I ask.

He chuckled. "No, but I know when I touch you.." He takes a deep breath. "You react, and your body tells me what I need to know."

"It won't happen again," I warn him.

"Not in a closet, but I am confident you'll be mine."

He leans into my ear. "It's all I've wished for since that night." I shiver remembering my dreams of him.

"You're awfully sure of yourself." I point out, and he smiles.

"I'm sure of you." He dips me, and when he brings me back up, and our lips are way to close. I turn my head away.

"If the General wasn't watching, I'd have your lips on mine." He looks at my lips, and I squeeze my thighs together.

Shit.

His eyes move to mine once again.

"You're beautiful." He twirls me around.

"You've haunted me for months, but you're not running away this time."

"Your date doesn't look happy. She's got plans for you tonight, remember?" I asked.

He shrugs his shoulders. "She's only a date, she can run off with your Captain, for all I care."

He presses his cheek against mine. "I hope she does." He adds.

I gulped.

"I won't stop till you're under me screaming my name, Isabella. Then I'll never let you go."

What? Ummm...

"If you thought you came hard in London, you have no idea what I can do if you give me the night." He whispers.

Oh god.

"I want to peel back all your layers, you're a mystery to me, doctor."

"Me? A mystery?"

"Yes, you're a flight attendant one minute, and a physician the next?"

I laugh. "I'm not an M.D. my father likes to make people think I am, but I'm a veterinarian."

He nods in understanding.

"So, that's what brought on all the animal talk on that flight?"

I nodded.

"Why didn't you practice?"

"Long story." I look down at my feet.

"Ah, well, you'll tell me soon enough."

I don't know what to think, my brain is so clouded.

"You, my angel, are so damn beautiful." He dips me again.

I look up and see my dad looking at me with adoration, and approval? Never seen that look on him before.

"Your father has told me for years I needed to meet his beautiful daughter."

"He did?" I look at him with confusion. I was with Braden since Sophmore year in high school.

"He did, but I don't usually mix business with pleasure, but for you my dear, I'd do anything."

"You're cheesy." I scrunched my nose.

"I'm smitten." He retorts.

I rolled my eyes. "You don't know me."

"I know touching a woman has never affected me this way. " he kissed my cheek.

"Jesus, you felt good that night."

Ugh, that night.

"Whatever, Mr. Masterson." I rolled my eyes again.

"This is how you pick up women, being all cheesy and way too egotistical?"

"I don't pick women up, they pick me up." He smiles.

"Wow, egotistical much?"

"It's true." He agreed.

I shake my head. "I won't be picking you up."

"I don't want you to, angel. I like chasing you for a change, I love a challenge." He winks at me.

"You'll be chasing a long time, maybe even forever, because I don't plan to be caught."

"Good, like I said, I want the challenge." he said.

He stops moving. "Till next time." He leans in and kisses my cheek.

"What?"

"The music stopped a long time ago." He chuckled.

Holy Shit! I look around and the place is clearing out. We are the only ones on the dancefloor. He then walks me over to my father.

"Thank you for allowing me the dance, sir." He says to my dad.

"Isabella." He nods. "I'll be seeing you soon."
