Devon lost his senses for a split second.

His chest became heavy all of a sudden, all of the air was cut off his limbs as if someone hit him. He just then realized what was happening.

Was Leo in danger?

No, he couldn't be. Faintly in the distance he could hear Jason's weak voice, asking him repeatedly if he was okay. No, the alpha was far from okay. This had to be some sort of a sick joke.

Before he knew it, he was dialing the number of the prison Leo was located into, after three or four times pacing back and forth, someone picked up, a bitterly-sweet female voice from the other side.

"Prison Santana, how may we help you?"

"Hello, it is Devon Ryder, " he felt his breathing grow faster, his voice was cracking. "I'd like to speak with Leo Ryder, please. " he urged, running slim fingers through his brown locks of hair. His eyebrows furrowed, lips parted and eyes almost pitch black. He kept repeating himself that this had to be a mistake, a sick prank by someone.

Jason was getting quite concerned too. It was true, they weren't that close with each other but he could smell the alpha's panic, discomfort and worry. Honestly, it made him worried too so he gently approached Devon and placed his small hands on the alpha's chest in attempt to calm him down. The alpha froze and looked at the small hands on his chest, then glanced at Jason.

"Thirty minutes ago three police guards came and took him away, they said that they'd lead him to the station for some more questioning, sir. "

He swallowed thickly, processing the words of the woman.

Someone came and took him.

"There must be a mistake, everything that happens to Leo, let alone questioning, I must be alerted first. " he spoke lowly, deep growl rumbled through his chest. It made the woman frightened immediately.

"I- am s-sorry s-sir, they told me you k-knew. " she stuttered and she could keep saying her 'sincere' apologies but the alpha hang up and threw the phone onto the bed. His heart was racing.

Fuck. What if this was true.

He had to fucking call Jenkins right now.

"Uh- " Jason stuttered, gently grasping the alpha's wrist. "What's going on?. "

"They have Leo. . . .that sick bastard, whoever it is. . . he took Leo. " Ryder whispered as he reached for his phone.

"The voice was robotic, I couldn't really tell if it was a man or a woman. " Devon murmured lowly while sitting on the chair at the room for questioning. He really didn't understood why this was necessary, he guessed that the cops thought he could have solid clue on revealing the killer's identity. Jenkins huffed and rubbed his wrinkly forehead with his pen. Looking down at his paper, it was empty when of course, he was supposed to write everything the alpha would say.

"Where did the killer told you to meet them again?"

"At the old abandoned warehouse near the lake, I think it was an old factory for carpets and such. . . " he'd trail off. " They also said to come alone or else my brother will die. "

Jenkins quirked an eyebrow and took a deep breath.

"What if. . . we send a patrol right behind you, sir? You can show up alone but that doesn't mean you will be. They can hide somewhere and observe? We can install microphone on your jacket. . "

"No. No action movie-like bullshit. I am going alone. "

"But s-sir, you might get hurt there. We do not know if this is the real killer or not, hell, we do not know if this isn't just a copycat. The killer is way smarter than that and- " Ryder growled under his breath and slammed his fists onto the table.

"My brother's life is at stake here. Despite everything he did to me, I will not let him die. Do not send anyone after me. I will take care of this alone, understood? " he spoke firmly, Jenkins shrank in his seat and helplessly nodded his head.

The alpha rose up from the chair he sat on, that alone made a loud screeching sound that echoed in the room, before he strode out from the room, fixing jacket. Everyone's gazes were on him.

"Devon? " Jason's voice rang in the alpha's head before a gentle grip was on his wrist. The alpha's nostrils flared as he turned to look at Jason with eyes full with fury.

"Be careful. . . please. "

And all of a sudden all of his damn fury vanished. Devon's features softened and he'd glance down at Jason's slim fingers holding onto his wrist.

"I will try..." he muttered before pulling his hand away and exiting the main doors of the station.

This place was surrounded with large trees, and high grass. Devon  guessed that it hasn't been taken cared of for a while now, the warehouse was old and rusty, it's windows were broken, some of them missing. It was creepy to say the least and he caught the faint smell of mold, perhaps from the lake behind the warehouse?

Turning the engine off, he'd climb out from the car and slam shut the doors.

Him being nervous was the smallest problem he had. He had to save Leo somehow, get away from the tight grip of that sicko that had his brother.

It was going to be a long night, he could feel that.

The first moment he stepped into the large warehouse, suddenly all the lights began flickering and with a loud 'CLICK' every light inside was working. He could see everything, from the dirty ground covered in glass and dust, to the cracked walls from the inside.

It was completely empty until the moment his eyes landed on a figure sitting on a chair not too far away. That figure was obviously struggling.

The alpha began walking faster, soon his walking became to running. As soon as he reached the figure, he'd notice that the head was covered with black bag.

"Leo. "Devon groaned lowly and swiftly removed the bag, staring at his brother's bruised features. Leo was unconscious of course, his hands tied behind him, legs also tied around the chair with a death grip.

The alpha's heart raced as he got busy with trying to set his brother free, but as soon as he got focused on that, Leo's eyes fluttered open. There was some dried blood on his lips, jaw, his one eye was bruised to the point it was swollen.

" Brother. . " Leo whispered weakly, voice cracking.

"It's okay. I am here. "

"Devon. . ." the alpha was focused on untying Leo's arms from behind, yelling in frustration when he couldn't, his own hands shaking.  He was too fucking nervous to do things right. It felt too silent in the warehouse.

The alpha looked at his brother's face, Leo's eyes were wide with fear focusing on something or rather someone behind the alpha.

"B-behind you. .. " was all Leo could gasp out before Devon felt that heavy excruciating paint in his head and he fell onto the ground helplessly, his vision slowly becoming dark and blurry.

All he could see were a pair of black leather heels in front of him before he passed out.
