It's been a week.

A whole week since Devon asked Jason for help. Has something changed?

Not really. Except that the alpha now let the omega roam freely around the large house. Devon was more careful when it came to the omega now, he didn't want another accident like this to happen again. The alpha had explained to him that there was no way that he could let him go like this since he payed large amount of money, but the least he could do was let him roam the house and explore, spend some more time in the library to kill time while Devon was patrolling around the city like a dog, trying to get some news on his brother's situation.

When it came to Leo's imprisonment, Devon had fucked up royally, the guilt was eating him from inside.

He had thought that he had caught the right guy. Leo was cocky, he was manipulative – Devon had every reason to think that his brother would be capable to do this, imagine his surprise when he found out that he wasn't the one who has been killing the omegas left and right.

Devon also had made major damage to his brother since it was all over the news. The alpha thought that this would be gone in two or three days but it's been too long and the news were still on every TV channel.

What could the alpha do?Until a proper evidence was found Leo was going to stay at the police station and wait. The killer hasn't striked since then which was weird.

Devon didn't put much thought to it. But he should've.

Back at his office, the usually clean desk was now covered in papers, folders of more papers. It was a disaster.

He was lost in thoughts, so many thoughts. The day Jason tried to commit suicide was the day Devon had a conversation with his closest friend Emilia who had barged into his office, holding something in her delicate hand.

" Jenkins called me when I was on my way to meet you. I made a quick stop at the LAPD and this is the evidence that your brother is innocent. " she spoke and threw the bag onto the desk. Devon quirked an eyebrow, a little skeptical.

"What is this? "

The blonde alpha crossed her arms against her chest, tilting her head to the side, exposing her delicate neck.

"See yourself. "

The alpha didn't waste time in exploring. He pulled out a CD disk from the bag and put it into his computer slot. There was a single video of a nearby surveillance camera behind the building where the auction was going on.

He saw a dark figure, hoodie covering their face, they got into the building from the back entrance. Something white caught his attention in one of their hands.

The white small card he had found over the dead girl's body.

Challenging him.

"This isn't your brother. It was hard to find a witness for your brother's aliby but the cops did and he wasn't there when the murder happened. " Emilia spoke in a slow voice. Something wasn't right. How come such an experienced police department couldn't find a witness or anything to prove Leo's aliby?  Leo had been saying over and over that he was in the woods, simply walking around. Emilia had explained further that the police found a hitchiker who saw a man who looked exactly like Leo to raom around. The time of the murder and the time of the younger alpha matched so it was not possible for Leo to be at two places in the same time.

"What about the DNA from my brother's hair under the victim's nails?" Devon asked, looking up at the blonde female. Her face dropped down as she sighed softly, sitting on one of the chairs in front of Devon's desk.

" Jenkins told me that they had been trying to talk to Leo and he has been saying the truth. She was your brother's girlfriend, Devon. She was abducted and the DNA was before she was abducted." the blonde female alpha trailed off and Devon couldn't believe what he was hearing.

So that's why Leo came back in town. Not to play some petty little games but to rescue his love?

"Fuck. " he cursed under his breath. "This makes sense now. " he leaned back, rubbing his face with his hands, a strange pain began pulsing in his chest.

"What about the news and media?" Devon asked again, Emilia flopped on the chair and crossed her legs.

"They still have no clue of what is going on, it's a matter of time for someone to tell them."

G u i l t y, voices whispered in Devon's mind over and over again.

However, his ringing phone snapped Devon out of his thoughts. His head was pounding havily. This situation alone had became way too fucking complicated.

It was true, Leo was nothing but a pain in the ass, Devon despised him, but. . . he did the wrong thing by putting him such position just from o n e evidence that soon turned out to be just a side detail.

"What!" the alpha snapped into the phone, eyebrows furrowing. He was bitter that he was even interrupted in such manner.

"Alpha Ryder, I've got some bad news..." Jenkins' voice stuttered over the phone. Devon knew what already had happened. The alpha murmured that he was going to be there in ten before hanging up the phone and storming out from the office.

On his way to the hospital he passed through a few red lights, cursing under his breath. He didn't get to hear much information about those 'news', but he knew that it'd be something more serious than before.

As he stormed into the morgue, Jenkins and Dr.Thomson turned their heads to look at the breathless alpha that had just bursted in. The strong scent of chemicals and something familiar immediately hit him in the nostrils. Devon froze, eyes got wide.

"What. . . " he trailed off, voice cracking. The faint scent was so familiar. So fucking familiar that it sicked him to his stomach.

"They found him last night under the bridge. His wounds are the same only difference that there are a few more additional for that. No fingerprints nor other evidence is found on the victim's body. Another dead end. "

The alpha remained silent, slowly approaching the dead body on the table, head tilted to the side.

"The only difference is. . . " the short doctor female muttered under her nose- Devon knew what she was going to say already, the scent in the room seeped into his skin now.

"An alpha... " Devon murmured to himself, voice shaking. He was truly panicking from the inside. Jenkins watched him intently while the female doctor covered the dead man's face.

Devon spent the evening drinking at the bar he used to visit nearby his house. He left the car in the parking lot, not wanting to drive while intoxicated. He would stumble from side to side as he walked down the street to reach the black gates of his home. His clothes were dishielved and he could barely see. Hiccups escaped his lips. It was not easy for an alpha to get drunk, but this was a side effect from the dozants he was taking. It was fun tho, the pain was muted for now. He felt his head spinning intently. Was this how people felt when they got drunk?

Then those thoughts he had been trying to avoid came back in his head. He felt powerless against the killer's actions. It was as if the the culprit was playing him, playing with his life and his closest people...was it possible that Devon knew the psychopath who had been causing chaos in the city for the past month and half?

He would stumble against the wall, hitting his shoulder, too lost in thoughts. Low hiss escaped his lips as he slumped down, head buzzing from the amount of alcohol he had been consuming.

Eventually he got home, slamming the door open loudly – that sound alone could wake everyone up in the house if his maids and butlers were here. The alpha had dismissed all of his staff two days ago because he didn't want anyone to know what exactly was happening with the cases, he was being careful about this situation.

When he climbed up the stairs, he reached to loosen his tie that somehow has been suffocating him throughout the entire day. Devon soon caught a whiff of the sweet and gentle scent he has been trying to avoid. However, in his drunken state, his alpha has been controlling his movements so the alpha walked toward Jason's room, knocking a few times. He could see the light under the door so it meant that the omega hasn't gone to bed yet.

There was a silence from the other side of the room before the door finally opened and Devon glanced at the omega.

Jason of course was a little taken back. He could smell the alcohol off Devon from miles away. That alone made him scrunch his nose in disapproval.

"Were you sleeping?" the alpha slurred lowly, leaning against the frame of the door.

Jason shook his head, slim fingers running through his black messy locks of hair.

"What do you want? " he asked the alpha in a low voice. Devon examined the omega. He was beautiful, he had to admit. His plush lips, his warm eyes... even his small petite frame the alpha found alluring.

"I...wanted to ...see you. " Devon slurred out.

"See me? What for?"

There was a silence for a few minutes before the alpha surged forward and pressed the omega against the closest wall.

"What the fuck!" Jason snarled and tried to pry the alpha off him but it was physically impossible to do so. The omega cursed his existence right then and there. However, he relaxed when he felt Devon's face burying in his warm neck.

"Just- let's stay like this for a little. " the alpha slurred yet again, nose brushing against the omega's skin and Jason's legs suddenly went weak.

"Get off me- what's gotten into you?!"

Devon didn't respond and that's where Jason realized that the strong body pressed against him was getting heavy.

Jason gritted his teeth as he squirmed and tried to wiggle out, he was suffocating from the scent of alcohol and pheromones Devon was releasing. Soon the omega heard Devon's slow and calm breathing.

The alpha had fallen asleep pressed up against the omega.
