Notes: Fem Nightmare, cat nightmare

She swept as she heard two ladies gossip behind doors.

"Huh... why are SD and DS king in the same kingdom... That is almost unheard of." A lady asks, fluttering her fan.

"I don't know either, sister." The lady huffs, "But that isn't any of our business. I heard that they have a kid in the castle, its speculated to be lady Lucia's child..."

"Lady Lucia?" The lady gasps, "Isn't that quite scandalous?"

"Lady Lucia is one with hundreds of money floating about..." The lady flaunts her fan, "If they do end up being Lady Lucia's child... then, truly the kingdom will flourish under their rule."

She ignored them, it wasn't any of her business as she was just a maid working around in the castle, she was really no one special. She fixes her work uniform and continues to move further beyond the rooms.

She continued to sweep the floor, heading towards the kitchen to look if they've already prepared the royal's meals. She peeks inside and hears the sound of sobbing and crying from inside. She moves furhter in to see the topic in question, SD and DS's son.

He had a furious expression on his face as he munched on something, tears spilling down on his cheeks and onto the floor. Nightmare was a little concerned as she enters the room to confront him, she hesitates before asking her question.

"Y-young sir?" She asks, "Are you okay?"

"Go away!" He yelled, "I don't want you here!"

"I just want to see what's wrong with you." She answers softly, "It's okay. I won't tell a word to your fathers."

He sniffs and continues crying, she takes a seat next to him. She's rather concerned on how something made the young master cry, from what she heard, he was rather passive and monotone, not daring to make an expression.

"So..." She starts, "What's wrong?"

"..." He sobs again. "Daddy and Dad don't care about me!"

"All they ever do is worry if I do something wrong to the people outside, they don't care about me, or my feelings, they don't— hic." Tears rolled down his face as he says the last few words, "They hate me!"

Nightmare watches, as far as she knows, she knows the kings have been working hard to make their son's life normal, for him to be pampered and to be kept safe from enemies. She knows of the amount of love and care they take to him.

"They don't. They just... want to keep you safe." She nods her head, "All they've ever done is to keep you safe..."

"But I know where those thoughts come from." She smiles, recalling a few memories in her head as she speaks, "I used to think no one loved me too... I got headbutted by my younger sister for thinking of those thoughts for even a second." She laughs.

"What I'm saying is... It's okay." Nightmare smiles at him, "Your dads love you, even if you don't think so. And if you ever need someone to comfort you... I'm here."

He blinks at her for a moment, and then hugged her. Shocking even herself, she hugs back. Rubbing light circles to his back as he lets out tearful cries.

She murmurs to him, "It's okay. You're not alone."

After a while, he stops crying, either he's already let everything out or he has no tears left to cry. She combs through his hair, "Do you want to go to bed now? It's already past dinner."

"Mhm." He mumbles.

"Then let's get going, do you mind if I carry you?" She asks.

"No." He mumbles again.

"Alright then," She lifts him up by the armpits and then carries him, she walks towards his room on the very top of the castle.

She opens the door and then places him on his bed, placing his plush next to him and pulling his blanket on to him.

"Goodnight." She whispers, placing a light kiss on his forehead.

The moonlight casts a faint glow on her.

SD and DS has heard of the mysterious maid who calmed their kid down, it wasn't as if it was a secret seeing as their kid rambled about her all day. They were quite interested in meeting her as well, it wasn't everyday that someone wouldn't be afraid of their own kid.

Anyway, as the day progressed. Their wishes seemed to come true, judging by the way they met her just a few days after their son talked about her.

As soon as their son saw her, he ran up to her and gave her a tight hug with the most adorable grin on his face whilst doing so.

"Ah, so you are the mysterious maid." SD eyed her up and down to examine her features, she wore the typical maid uniform, she was quite the pretty girl, SD felt himself blush as he looks at the curves that the outfit makes emphasis on.

DS held his own breath at her beauty, but stayed quiet beside SD.

"A— Yes. Umm." She stuttered, her voice was like honey, SD could listen to it all day if she would let him.

"Daddy! She's the one I was talking about!" His child enthusiastically says, pointing at her with the brightest grin on her face. This was the most happiest he's ever seen his child been, save for some other moments.

"I can see that. Why not invite her for dinner tonight?" SD chuckles, patting his child's head. "If she doesn't mind, of course." At the end of his sentence, he stared at her and she avoided his gaze.

"Oh! Kay! Can you come with us to dinner, Ms. Nice Lady?" He says with the cutest puppy doll eyes she's ever seen, and because she was bad at saying no to children, she indulges.

"Of course." She says with a smile on her face.

"Yay!" He shouts.

"Good. Dinner will be this evening at 7. Can't wait to see you there." SD winks, "Excuse us, it's already nap time for him."

"It's no problem, Your Majesty." She waves. "Take care."

"You too."

Dinner was quite the success.

Both parties got closer to one another and made new memories. DS thought fondly of it as he fiddles with his stamp. The maid whom they learned was named Nightmare, was quite the sweetheart, despite her name.

She was sweet, kind, gorgeous, talented... Just the kind of wife DS would want. It would be nice if SD would back off, but he supposes he could share.

It was their son's birthday. Everyone celebrated happily as he blowed the candles and smiled brightly. Nightmare was also there for his birthday party, and as they were getting ready to end the festivities, she suddenly disappeared. Making SD and DS concerned.

As they walk further along, they found her deep within her room, curled up and crying. She saw them and begged them not to hurt her, which made both SD and DS concerned and worried. She later on explained that a few maids and a few kings had threatened her, and if she ever went near SD and DS, they would kill her, and then hurt her, and then locked her in her room.

Both SD and DS were furious, but they quelled their anger first and brought Nightmare to bed.

It was safe to say that the maids and the kings who were involved in hurting her were never heard from again.

A party had started, and Nightmare was invited to it. She was quite skeptical seeing as she was just a maid, but she indulges in the kings' antics. She noticed the way they looked fondly and lovingly to her, and that alone made shivers run down her spine. So, she wore a simple black dress with the flower crown that their son made for her.

She enters the party and sees SD and DS immediately with their handsome figures, they were also wearing suits, which fit them and made them look quite mature. Nightmare smiles and walks over to them.

Many others watch as she approaches the kings, dazzled by her beauty and her prescence.

"Hello." She says and she feels her breath hitch as the kings laid their eyes on her.

"My, Nightmare," SD walks up to her and grabs her hand, giving it a light kiss as he gazes upon her. "You are quite the lady tonight."

"You look gorgeous Nightmare, who made the dress?" DS asks, a warm smile on his face as he says so.

"My mother made it for me when I was young." She says hastily.

"Ah, your mother is quite the talented woman then." He smiles.

"Enough chit chat." SD turns to her again. "Do you perhaps want to dance, Nightmare?"

"Sure." She smiles, "Not like anyone else is willing to dance with me."

"They're fools." DS scoffs.

"This is the first time I agree with you." SD nods, "Anyway, shall we dance, m'lady?"

"Of course."

It turns out after that night, Nightmare got pregnant and turned into a cat. Both SD and DS were ecstatic at the information, even if they were concerned in the morning why Nightmare was puking and getting cravings.

Their son was also happy at the prospect of a baby brother or sister.

A few months after her pregnancy, they announce her as soon-to-be queen of the kingdom, and they let the kingdom know that the child was theirs.

Thus, they became married and Nightmare becomes queen. Just as they wanted. Under her careful rule, they flourish even against dangerous circumstances.
