Clint P.O.V

After a fairly uneventful drive we pull up to the Avengers Facility, the car erupting in 'oohs and aahs' causing me to suddenly remember that my family has never been here before.

I park in front of the kitchen entrance, there is a large front entrance but it is mainly used for conferences, or training personnel, basically anything that professionally attains to the Avengers.

"Okay kids, Daddy is going to go in first to make sure everything is alright before I bring you guys in." I unbuckle my seatbelt and find Laura doing the same.

"I'm coming too, Lila and Cooper you can either sit in the car or play on the front lawn there, but you can't go past the driveway." My wife says, climbing out of the vehicle and retrieving the car seat from the back, Nathaniel still comfortably buckled inside.

"Alright," I chuckle, following my wife up the front steps to the door.

I see her raise a fist about to knock and I burst out laughing, "don't bother." I brush past her, taking the heavy car seat from her hand and stride into the kitchen.

"Oh hey Clint!" Natasha says, she's sitting at the table with a cup of tea, clearly waiting for us. "Are the kids outside."

"Yeah, we wanted to make sure everything was good in here before they came in." Laura says, embracing her.

"For sure! Do you want to come meet Callie before they come in? It might help her to have a slow introduction." Nat says, standing and then striding over to me and taking the car seat, "I'll just take my namesake out..." she grins, kneeling down to retrieve Nathaniel.

Once she has the baby cradled in her arms and has sufficiently gushed about how sweet he is, she leads us out and towards the living room. "Everyone is in here."

We come into the room and sure enough Bruce is sitting in the love seat, Steve has claimed an armchair that he is perching on the edge of, watching over Callie who is laying on the rug beside Thor with a pile of action figures.

"Where's Tony?" I ask, pulling everyone's attention to myself.

"Right here," his voice comes from behind us, "hey Laura nice to meet you." He shakes my wife's hand and then my own.

"Nice to meet you," Laura says, then turns to watch the little girl. "She's so cute Tony, how old is she?"

"We think she's 5, but we don't actually know..."

"Five?" Laura interrupts aghast, "she can't be five, she is two or three at most!"

Tony shifts uncomfortably, "n-no Fury said she was 3 to 5..."

Steve looks up, making eye contact, "five is easier to stomach, well, everything, than two or three." He says and then smiles, "hi I'm Steve, nice to meet you." He stands and shakes Laura's hand, the movement draws Callie's attention and she gets to her feet, looking at the newcomer inquisitively.

"Callie do you want to say hello?" Cap asks, and she takes a few tentative steps forward. Laura squats down and holds out a hand, and he kneels down beside Callie, "this is Auntie Laura." Then he turns to my wife and says somewhat apologetically, "She doesn't talk very much."

"Except for when she's playing, and then it is often rather, um, questionable." Thor says, shifting down to lay on his elbow.

"Yeah... it seems she's picked up some choice phrases from before she came here."

The little girl clutches her hands behind her back, "that's okay, we understand. hi sweetheart, it's nice to meet y—oh! Her eyes!" Laura gasps, startled at the ice blue eyes staring back at her.

"Yeah, that's just a... weird thing she does." Tony interjects awkwardly. Callie looks up at him, chewing on her bottom lip. "Go play baby." He sighs and she does as he says, tackling Thor who is still laying on the ground.

"It's not a 'weird thing'" Steve hisses, makes quotations with his fingers. "You shouldn't say stuff like that, especially when she can hear you."

Tony waves him off and find a seat on the couch.

"It's okay, I was just startled. She really is very cute. I'm going to go get the kids now, I think it's fine right Clint?" I nod at her and she retreats out of the room.

Suddenly the baby starts crying and Callie's head whips up, eyes flashing again, she stands up and toddles over to Natasha, scrunching her face up curiously.

"This is baby Nathaniel, you have to be very gentle with babies." Natasha says, brushing back Callie's hair. "Do you want to touch his head? Like this," she displays the action for the little girl to copy.

As she's reaching out a tentative hand Tony suddenly sits up, "no, stop! She shouldn't."

"What? Why not?" Bruce turns to Tony.

"Because she's too... too rough."

"She's fine, it's okay baby, go ahead." Callie is looking from Tony to her Uncle in confusion, her extended hand pulling back slightly.

"Here," Bruce envelops the tiny hand in his and gently places it on the top of Nathaniel's head, the baby immediately stops crying and falls back to sleep.

Callie's mouth turns into an 'Oh!' And then she grins, scrunching her nose at Bruce.

"Isn't his head warm and soft?" Bruce asks and she nods , pressing her lips together.

Can you give him a kiss? Like this." Natasha whispers, pressing her lips to the infant's head.

"I don't think that's a good idea," Tony growls getting to his feet.

"Relax she's doing fine." Steve says, irritation laced into his voice.

"It's fine Tony, I don't mind." I tell him, he looks at me almost distrustfully but sits down anyways.

Callie kisses his head and then springs away, running and jumping onto Thor's belly, reaching for her action figures. "Uncle be aliens?" She whispers, sitting cross-legged with her back against his chest.

"Absolutely. Okay, where were we?" They begin playing, and I find Thor was right, the little girl talks way more during play.

I look up at the sound of my older children's voices carrying down the long hallway and Cooper bounds up to me, "hey Buddy, okay, slow down a second, we don't want to overwhelm our new friend." I grab his shoulders and hold him in front of myself, waiting for Laura and our daughter to join us.

Lila runs in and rushes to Natasha, squealing happily. Callie looks up, and her curiosity turns to suspicion when she sees her Aunt hugging another little girl. Her eyes flash blue but Thor sits up and pulls her into his lap, "the aliens are going to eat your brains, you better defeat them."

She nods seriously, flicking her finger the Captain America action figure sends his shield flying a few feet and it comes whizzing back, nailing the alien in the head.

"Woah!" Cooper exclaims in amazement, "how does she do that?"

"Pretty cool hey? She's really special." I tell him. We both watch attentively for the next cool thing.

Callie then grabs Thor's action figure and sends the hammer whizzing around the room, hitting several aliens on it's path, "I make you suck my dick," Callie announces to the aliens. Thor reaches out to cover her mouth but before he can she mutters, "then you puke." Steve's face blanches and he squeezes his eyes shut.

"Callie!" Tony barks, she looks up stunned, having no idea what she's done wrong. "I'm so sorry, oh my god." He tells me.

"It's not her fault," Cap whispers, looking at Tony with a pained expression.

"It's okay, hey what do we say instead?" Thor grabs her face gently. "How about 'eat my dust' or 'lights out' or something like that?"

"Eat my dust!" She shouts triumphantly and he laughs and makes the alien feign death.

I turn to Tony, "it's okay, seriously, we talked to the kids before coming."

"Yes but I'm sure you weren't expecting... that..."

"No, that is a lot more extreme than I thought," I confess. I glance over at Laura who is looking at Callie like she might cry. "But like Steve said, she can't help it."

To my surprise Cooper walks over to the pair playing on the rug and asks if he can play. "Of course you can!" Thor smiles at him warmly, "Callie can we share a hero?"

Callie narrows her eyes at him and then slowly hands him an alien. Cooper scowls, "I want Thor."

"Ah, no sorry buddy, I don't even get to be Thor." The big man laughs. "What about your Daddy though, can we give him Hawkeye?"

Callie picks up the black clad figure and turns it in her hands for a moment, and then finally she passes it over.

Lila, seeing the other children engaging in play, runs over and demands a toy as well, snatching the Captain America from the other little girl.

"Lila..." I begin but am cut off by Callie shrieking.

"No! Mine!" She screams, standing up but my daughter holds the toy above her head so the smaller child can't reach it.

"Lila give it back now!" Laura says sternly, and despite her sulking, she does as she's told.

Callie grabs the plastic doll and retreats with her Thor and Captain America to her real life version, glaring at Lila from his lap.

"Which one can Lila play with Callie?" Thor asks, Callie looks down at the pile of superhero's at her feet and grabs Black Widow, handing it to Lila with a scowl.

"Alright perfect, I need to use the bathroom, you three play." He says, placing his niece on the floor, she looks at him warily for a moment but he assures her he will be back.

Laura turns to Natasha and says softly, "look at them all, Cooper is five, Lila is four, Callie is a full head shorter than Lila! There's no way she is five, that's bullshit."

Natasha nods, "we just have no way of knowing how old she actually is, atleast until we can find a birth certificate."

"Can we stop talking about her age please? She's small, and malnourished, we get it." Tony rolls his eyes moodily.

"Be nice Tony." Natasha growls but he ignores her and goes back to sitting in silence.

The room is full of the sound of kids playing and suddenly Bruce asks, "hey, why didn't anyone want the Hulk?"

"Hulk dying." Callie says matter a factly, motioning at a pile of aliens stacked on top of a large green figurine, the room bursts into laughter.

"What, no, I don't like this game!" Bruce pouts.

I buckle over howling, "but Banner you can't die!"

"It's the principal of the thing, she's killing her Uncle. It's terrible." He chuckles.

"We're being over run!" Cooper yells, moving my figurine's arms robotically.

"Oh no!" Squeals Lila.

"Retreat!" Cooper calls.

Callie giggles and then starts humming Black Sabbath through her teeth.

"Oh boy, here I come." Tony laughs, smiling for the first time all morning.

A red and gold action figure raises into the sky, it's arms extending in front of itself. My kids both stop playing, staring with their mouths gaping open.

"Ironman save day!" Callie yells, and flicking her fingers the aliens atop Hulk go flying off.

"Why can't Captain America save the day? Why is it always Ironman?" Steve asks, poking Callie's back.

She pauses and turns to him with a demeaning expression, "Dada say Ironman always save day."

"That's right baby." Tony winks at Steve and he rolls his eyes.

Callie turns back to her game and the other kids have now grabbed aliens and are trying to take down Ironman. Tony's little girl is standing now, and she has Ironman, Thor and Captain America floating around her.

Callie, clearly getting over stimulated, blurts, "I fuck you up the—" she's cut off by Cap's big hand wrapped around her mouth.

Steve is about to ask what she could say instead when Tony reaches over and yanks Callie's wrist, swatting her bottom as he pulls her to him.

"Tony, you can't..." Bruce groans.

"Don't tell me what I can and can't do with my kid Banner." The room is awkwardly quiet now, Steve is glaring at Tony like he wants to murder him and Thor, who was leaning against the doorframe stomps down the hallway.

The little girl whimpers but doesn't cry, instead she looks up at him with a face that could break your heart, like he's betrayed her. "Callie that's a bad thing to say, you mustn't say that again." He hisses and then grabs her face in both of his hands, "one more time and you'll have to go to your room." He says sternly and then kisses her forehead, turns her around and sends her back to play.

Instead though she turns and crawls into Steve's lap, tears finally breaking free. "Ssssh, no it's okay, you're a good girl." He whispers wiping her face and pulling her close to him. "Do you want to go play some more? Your friends are waiting..."

Callie turns around and then her eyes widen in horror as Lila races up and takes Ironman and Captain America off the floor. She jumps off Cap's lap and screams, tears streaming down her cheeks.

"Oh shit, sorry Callie. Lila give them back please." I grab Lila but before I can free the action figures from her clenched hands Callie lobs an alien and it clunks against Lila's head.

Lila begins wailing clutching her head as if it was a bowling ball not a plastic action figure.

"Oh my god Callie! For fuck sakes kid, you're done now. Go to your room." I look up at Tony who is fuming, and I suddenly realize why the cussing may not have been forgotten.

Callie is sobbing, throwing a full blown tantrum. She screams at him, her fists clenched at her side and suddenly a glass vase on the mantle shatters. He looks up shocked, "you're a bad girl!" He rushes at her, grabbing her around the waist, she wails and kicks out against him.

It looks like he's about to spank her again but Steve jumps up and pulls Callie out of his arms. "Tony stop! You're scaring her, stop!"

Tony looks furiously at him and then clenches his eyes shut before turning and rushing away into his bedroom, slamming the door behind himself.

"Callie it's okay," Cap shushes her as he holds her tight against his chest. "I'm sorry, this is awful, I'm so sorry." He looks between Laura and I, his voice breaking.

"It's okay buddy, should we go home though?" I ask, grabbing his arm and walking him out into the hallway.

Callie has calmed slightly but her breathing is still hitching and ragged, she peeks out at me from his shoulder, her eyes dulled and calm. "I sorry I a bad girl."

"No you're a good girl." Steve says and then tilting his face back a few tears slip out, "ugh, shit!"

I wrap a hand around his neck and then I envelope Callie's head with my other arm, "you're not a bad girl Callie, look at me, you are a very good girl, you just need a little break that's all. We can try playing after lunch okay?"

She nods, and let's me kiss her head. Then I turn to Cap, "you okay? What's up with him?" I nod at Tony's door.

"He's having a hard time, I don't know why." He shrugs and then looks at me, "I'm okay, I'll just put her down with a movie in my room, your kids could probably come watch too once she's settled."

"Sure buddy, thanks." I watch him walk away and I can't help but think that he needs help too. I'll need to be more available here.
