Callie P.O.V

I am crouching against the ceiling, a pose I've taken so many times that it is second nature, and I'm hiding. I'm not sure why I'm hiding or who from but I know in my gut that it is detrimental that I not be found.

My eyes gaze around the room, trying to figure out where I am but it's pitch black and my eyes just aren't adjusting. The darkness is all encompassing, I can feel it creeping down my chest and its suffocating me.

I decide to release my hold on the roof, perhaps my location will be more obvious from the ground. I first release my legs so just my arms are keeping me elevated; I look down, straining my eyes to see what's below my feet but it's just darkness. I quickly suck in a deep breathe before releasing my hands and dropping to the floor.

A splash erupts as my feet hit the ground, I seem to be standing in water up to my ankles, but it is just as dark on the ground as it was up high and I can't make out anything.

That us until I hear it... 'thump thump thump' footsteps coming down the stairs. Suddenly I realize where I am, my mind goes numb, I look around and I can see it--the basement. Everything is the same but its fuzzy, and the water... what is with the water?

For a moment I'm lost in thought until I notice the ripple caused by the heavy feet stomping down the stairs. I look around desperate to hide but my body seems to be moving in slow motion.

I manage to duck away from eyesight just as the heavy wooden door pushes open, groaning as it swings. The man on the other end sends shivers down my spine, his large purple-hued face us drawn into a scowl as he looks around the room.

He reaches to the left grabbing the chain, and I instinctively grab my throat only to realize there is no chain attached to me.
He pulls the chain through his hands until he comes to the end and his eyes flare in anger. "Where are you?" He spits, walking further into the room.

His hateful beady eyes glance around and pass right over me, as he continues his search. I let out the breath I'd been holding, there is something strange going on. I don't seem to be in the same dimension as him, but I am certain that this is happening or has happened, but why and how I am here to witness it I do not know.

In a moment of bravery I decide to test my theory and stand up, he does not seem to notice me. I kick at the water causing a loud splash, he doesn't even flinch.

I walk towards him and stop when I am directly before him, staring up into his big ugly face.
He looks back and forth angrily and then something seems to catch his eye, he moves forward quickly and I am terrified that he will bump into me but his body passes through mine as if I were made of cloud.

As I revel in the disconcerting feeling of having someone walk right through my body, I forget for a moment where I am. That is until I hear a chilling laugh echo behind me, a cold chill runs down my spine and I can feel goose bumps raising on my arms.

I turn slowly to see him holding a small object between his round, sausage-like fingers. I'm not sure what it is, until he chuckles and whispers, "Tony Stark."

I squint my eyes until the object becomes clear, a small piece of red shrapnel with the 'Stark Industries' logo. I gulp, this isn't good.

"I'm coming for you Callie," he whispers.

My entire body seizes in fear and I begin screaming.

"Who is looking for you Callie?" Daddy asks again, his voice straining as if he's asked the same question multiple times.

"The big purple man," I whisper, my voice quivering slightly. "I could feel him searching."

Daddy's face falters slightly, but despite his best efforts to hide his confusion and disbelief, I can feel it in him as if they were my own feelings.

"It's true." I whisper shifting my eyes away from his, I can't handle the pity I see there.
I desperately wish I could explain what I see, or show him somehow, but I only know how to look into someone else's source of emotion, not show them my own.

"I know but..." he begins to say before he's interrupted.

"I've said it before and I'll say it again--she is not human." Uncle Thor says loudly. The way he says it confuses me, I have no idea what he means by it. What else would I be?

"Thor I don't think..." Uncle Steve tries to interject but the golden haired man interrupts once again.

"There are numerous creatures littered across the universe. She could have had interaction with anything." He turns to Daddy, "After all the things you've seen, how is it so hard to believe that she could be from another world. I mean look at her eyes! They're practically glowing!" He motions towards me dramatically.

Daddy picks me up off the floor, his demeanor is cold and I can sense a hint of fear within him. "None of that matters." He says quietly, his voice barely above a whisper. "She's here now, she's safe." He assures the room, while simultaneously trying to convince himself.

"You humans are so senseless. She is clearly of supernatural descent; we should take this as a warning and prepare!" Thor thrusts his arm into the air as if getting ready for a battle.

I look between the two men, beginning to feel uneasy. What the tall, blonde man is saying makes sense, but I would definitely prefer Daddy's assumption. However, the longer Uncle Thor speaks the more I can feel Daddy's reserve thinning. His brow is furrowed in concern and his lips have formed a tight line, his being is emanating uncertainty. I can't help but feel worried that there may be some truth in what Thor is suggesting.

Daddy wraps his arms tightly around me before turning back to the group and saying, "I'm going to put Callie to bed, we can talk about this later." He swiftly turns and we exit the room.
