Macon's bag was heavy as she heaved it over shoulder with the small child in her arms.

She followed Anders out of the tram onto the loading dock.

"Kenna, you are going to love..."

Macon's words died on her tongue as she surveyed the city.

It was nearly unrecognizable.

Her mouth hung ajar.

"It's a little worse for wear." Anders said as he shook his head.

He was the worlds best at deflecting from the situation.

"This is so much worse than I'd expected." Macon said taking another step away from the tram.

Macon and Anders made their way towards the city streets among a few passengers that had traveled with them.

They stood waiting for what seemed like a eternity for Xane to retrieve them from the station.

Macon's face lit as she saw him suddenly.

He was flanked by a small group of people.

Macon took a few steps towards him before she faltered at the pained expression on his face.

She knew right away that something wasn't right.

Kenna's small voice rang out. "Nona." She shouted and wriggled in Macon's arms.

Macon immediately lowered the child allowing her to run to the older Autrian female.

Tears swelled in Macon's eyes, and she quickly wiped them away.

She knew this was right, but couldn't help the pain that radiated in her chest.

The child had given her purpose and now- she didn't know what that was anymore.

"Oh Kenna," the female wept, wrapping her arms around the small child.

Macon stood there and plastered on a smile as she knew she should be happy that they were able to find Kenna's family.

This was right.

Before she knew it, she and Anders were loading their belongings into Xane's pod.

The ride out of the city was long, but the further they drove from the city the less destruction was apparent.

"Let's keep our fingers crossed. Hopefully the rebels left Casa De Xane in tact." Anders laughed, attempting to lighten the mood.

As they emerged through the overgrowth, they found that Xane's estate was just as he'd left it.

He let out a sigh and glanced at Macon.

Her face was still a mask.

He rested his hand atop hers.

The gesture was comforting, but it would take Macon a while to get past the loss of the little girl, and how she had imagined things going today.

The pod came to a stop in front of the stairs, and Xane opened the doors.

Macon scoured every inch of the property with new eyes as the approached.

When Xane had first brought her here, she'd had no idea that this was his estate.

She'd thought that they were trespassing and had been too freaked out to truly take in everything.

"This place is amazing." She said more to herself than her two companions.

"Take your time. I'm going to put the bags in our room."  Xane said as he walked past her.

The words had come out so easily that she'd nearly missed what he'd said.

"Our room," She thought.
Nerves fluttered to life in the pit of her stomach.

Was she ready for that?

They'd hardly touched over the past few weeks, and now they'd be sharing a room.

Macon was surprised to find people inside.

Xane was making his way down the stairs when he noticed Macon standing stock still in the doorway.

"This," he said quickly taking two and three stairs at a time now.  "- is Amrith our housekeeper and Tungla head of staff.  The rest of the staff will need to introduced by Tungla, as I have not met them as of yet."

Macon was caught off guard, but only took a moment before she made her way to shake the hands of the various staff members and housekeepers.

She would not let her shock make her appear rude.
