"Two halves make a whole"

O N W A R D S;

Caleb had contemplated telling her that he was trying to find out why she left him on his own but, as she stood before him with takeout in her arms he felt the words suddenly evaporate as he leaned forward greeting her with his arms and his lips. The kiss was short and sweet and made Caleb feel warm on the inside.
"Hello," She greeted, grinning.
"Hi, find your way okay?"

Caleb had invited her to have lunch with him in his office, since he'd been busy for most of the week with his investigation, work and information on Sloan, he'd hardly had time to see her.
"I found my way just fine— it's hard to miss when it's the largest building in an eight mile radius."
Caleb chuckled, "Well, this is my office." He extended his arms around the room, twirling on the spot.

He heard her hum, the room had glass walls that showcased all the cardinal points of the city. In the center was his desk and towards the left was his personal lounge.
"You just had to make the whole floor your office didn't you?" Georgia said with amusement laced in her voice.
Caleb chuckled, "Yup." He approached her slowly.
Minimizing the gap between them by placing his hands on her waist, "Privacy is important."

Their bodies were firmly palmed together and with her against him, he could feel everything; her uneven breathing being the most prevalent, he smirked at how he was affecting her. He could feel her soft skin underneath his fingertips as they grazed her waistline. He leaned into her, his lips brushing her ear, he suddenly kissed just below it and leaned back grinning at her.
"Let's eat." He chuckled at her flustered expression as he stepped away from her taking the takeout from her hands.

In the corner of his eye, he saw her pull at her burgundy dress and rake her hands through her long auburn locks that were out surrounding her shoulders and face. They sat together in comfortable silence and Caleb watched as she stared at the city below them; bustling with millions of people.
"You should see it at night." He said aloud, "The lights make it look beautiful."
Georgia met his eyes when he spoke, "Maybe I'll see it sometime." She smiled.

"Maybe you will." He nodded his head.
He got up offering to take her empty plate and throw it in the garbage.
"How have you been?" He asked.
She shrugged, "Same old same old. Nothing particularly interesting."
"I've been checking out medical schools." She admitted.
"And?" He asked hopeful she'd found one she liked.

"I mean I haven't exactly picked one out yet but I did come across a few universities with a pretty good art program."
Caleb stood still trying to figure out if he'd misheard her; art?
He laughed it off, "Why would you look at art schools?"
Georgia narrowed her eyes at him, "Ha ha." She deadpanned.
"Don't tell me you haven't thought about painting again?" She asked.

Caleb gulped, suddenly not in a mood for conversation. He did not want to talk about this—
"No, I've never thought about it."

He'd lied straight to her face and now she was shaking her head at him, "Liar." She mumbled softly.
Caleb chose to ignore her as he leaned back into the couch, "you know, you never told me why you stopped painting."
Suddenly he avoided her gaze that was now hammering into him, he felt cripple under her stare but chose to answer with a shrug. Then he heard her sigh, it was long and sad.

"It was because of me wasn't it." It wasn't much of a question but more of a statement.
"I was what made you stop doing what you love." At his silence she scoffed sadly to herself, "Of course I was." She muttered bitterly.
Caleb was young back then, Georgia was his first real taste of love and in their relationship he'd put too much into a person he'd forgotten himself in the process and when she left, she'd taken a whole chunk of him with her.

He'd depended too much on one human being and that is something you should never do.

He looked at the woman who was now next to him on the couch. This same woman whom he had so many memories with. He'd gotten her back. After everything, here she was back in his life. The former love of his life, he frowned at the past tense he used, it wasn't in the past anymore—

Caleb suddenly broke the silence, "You were the last thing I painted. I don't know if you remember but the park we always went too. After I painted you there you left and I had the canvas with me and every time after that, when I thought of picking up a paintbrush it only reminded me of you and— well, I just couldn't do it anymore." He admitted truthfully.

His hazel eyes found hers and tried to smile but Georgia just shook her head looking away.
"It amazes me that you could even stand to be in the same room as me— I"
Suddenly there was a knock to his office door and Caleb frowned standing up to go to the door.
"Mr. Hearst!" Harry smiled when Caleb opened the door.
"I'm on lunch Harry, can this wait?"

He saw Harry frown as he looked past him, "Oh? Mr. Hearst I didn't know we had company"
Harry pushed past and wandered over to where Georgia was seated.
"My name is Harry, and you are?"
Georgia gave him a weak smile, "Georgia."
Harry turned back to Caleb who had a frown to his face, he wanted Harry to leave; he needed to continue his conversation with her.

"Caleb never told me that you'd be bringing a visitor!"
Caleb scoffed, "I don't need to tell you anything, I'm the boss here." His time was icy telling Harry to back off, but Harry ignored him.
"How are you associated with Mr. Hearst? Friends?" He asked hopefully, "—cause if you are I'd gladly take you off his hands and I'd show you a good time."

Caleb narrowed his eyes into slits, "Harry leave."
Harry smirked shaking his head, "Board meeting starts in an hour."
"Nice meeting you Georgia," he muttered smirking before closing the door behind him.
He turned back to her, "I'm sorry about him."
She laughed softly, "It's okay."
There was silence as neither of them knew what to say. Caleb didn't know how to tread the waters but instead of keeping quiet he chose to speak up, "At first, I didn't want to come and see you— for obvious reasons."

At the truth, he saw her cringe but nod her head, "But I ended up going to finally get answers."
He paused, "But when you didn't remember anything I didn't know what to think. I'd been angry about it for so long, angry with you but for some reason I kept going to see you."
"If I was being honest, seeing you was hard on me but it made me realize that I missed you even if you didn't remember why you left me."

"Caleb, I'm so sorry." was all she muttered softly.
"What I did was unforgivable and I still can't believe you're giving me a second chance." She gave him a small smile, "You deserve so much." She lifted her hand to rest it on his cheek, "I hope you know that."

Caleb chuckled, "You'll do just fine."
