"The truth will set you free"

O N W A R D S;

Caleb thought of a lot of things when Kingsley Pascal came to mind; his father mostly, and we all know that that's never a good thing. Kingsley looked decent for his age. He stood tall, with silver hair and eyes to match with tight, sharp cheekbones that resembled the skin of someone who had plastic surgery. Caleb's eyes suddenly narrowed at the smug look the older man had resting on his face.
"Friendly with the Howell's?" Kingsley asked sipping his gin.

Caleb's fingers suddenly curled around his own drink, "Yeah, I know them. You?"
Kingsley shrugged, "Not personally, but it could help in the future to have criminal lawyers in my back pocket." Caleb didn't bat an eyelid, even though the statement had made him uneasy.
"Here you are," The bartender spoke, "Another glass of champagne." resting the other drink intended for Georgia right beside his as Caleb handed him a twenty which caused Kingsley raise his eyebrows, "Came with someone?"

"Mhm, my girlfriend." Caleb pursed his lips trying to read his expression, after all Caleb had broken it off with his daughter.
"Girlfriend?" Kingsley looked surprised, "How lovely." He could hear the sarcasm rippled out of his mouth, "When did you meet her?"
"Awhile ago actually, you might know her." Caleb stated.

"Know her? What's her name?" Kingsley seemed curios now.
"Georgia Graham."
Kingsley's eyes widened a little as he tried to maintain his stoic expression but Caleb had already spotted his slip up— he knew something.
"Where is this girlfriend of yours Caleb? I want to meet her."
Caleb suddenly became suspicious of the way Kingsley was reacting but remained calm and collected, "Maybe later, she has company at the moment"

He saw Kingsley scour the crowds intentionally looking for Georgia and Caleb pursed his lips, "Say, how long have you known this girl?" Kingsley asked, his eyes still searching the crowd.
Caleb frowned, something wasn't right, "a few years."
Suddenly Kingsley caught his gaze and Caleb furrowed his eyebrows at his hardened facial expression.

"You love this girl Caleb?" Kingsley asked suddenly.
"I don't see how that is any of your business." Caleb snapped.
Kingsley chuckled, "You do, I could tell— loved her even after five years." Kingsley sighed, "Isn't that right Caleb?"
Caleb's eyes widened, he did know, "You know something I don't, don't you?"
Kingsley suddenly let out a full blown laugh that echoed throughout the ballroom.

"I know a lot of things that you don't boy." A smirk was placed on his lips.
Caleb was about to rebut but Kingsley cut him off, "When I hire someone, most of the time they get the job done, whatever it may be." He paused to sip his drink, "however sometimes errors of judgment are made and some bad decisions"
"An error of judgement?" Caleb frowned.
"Yes, things that I should have taken care of or rather persons."

Caleb's eyes widened, wait was he talking about—
"It's getting late," Kingsley suddenly checked his watch, "I'm getting too old for these things." He chuckled, "I'll see you soon Caleb."
But before Caleb could react Kingsley was already traveling through the crowd, it had crossed his mind to follow him and maybe if he had he would have heard his next phone call.

Kingsley forcefully pounded the numbers onto his phone and pressed dial. In no less than five seconds his call was answered.
"Why hasn't it been taken care of?" He asked irritated.
The person on the other end of the line was silent before speaking, "She wasn't home when I arrived so I improvised. Trashed her house."
Kingsley was ticking, "I told you I wanted her gone."

The man on the other line scoffed, "She doesn't even remember anything, I don't know why your being so paranoid about this"
Kingsley was suddenly seething, "Do you not know how amnesia works! She can regain her memories you fucking idiot!" Kingsley ran his fingers through his hair, "When I told you to get rid of her the first time you couldn't even do that! What kind of idiot doesn't check if she's still breathing after ramming into her car!"
The other voice was silent, "What do you want me to do?"

Kingsley sighed, "Get it done this time or its your ass on the line."
