"A single feature sparks an emotion"

O N W A R D S;

Georgia had come to find Caleb ten minutes after Kingsley had left and seeing his confused expression made Georgia automatically frown herself.
"You okay?" She asked, her hand fixing a piece of his hair.
He nodded absentmindedly at her question which caused her frown to deepen, "It's getting late," he spoke up taking one last swing of his glass, "We should leave." Georgia nodded at this and entwined their fingers together.

The valet had called their driver and opened the door for them both.
"Caleb something is going on." Georgia spoke interrupting his train of thought, "What happened?"
That's just it, Caleb didn't know what was happening, Kingsley had behaved weirdly and it left Caleb feeling weary and extremely uncomfortable. Caleb was sure more than even that Kingsley knew who Georgia was but what was confusing him was what did he mean by hiring someone?

Caleb shook his head taking a deep breath and finally meeting Georgia's gaze.
"Babe, I want to go to my house."
He watched Georgia's eyebrows furrow before he continued, "My old house."
She made an 'o' shape with her mouth and nodded refraining from asking any more questions. He gave the driver the new address and soon Caleb was pulled in front of his childhood home. He didn't know exactly what he wanted to find here but he had hopes that some of his father's old notes would shed some light on the situation.

"Just wait out here, we won't be long." Caleb told the driver opening the door and taking Georgia's hand.
As they approached the front door it was whipped open by one of the maids who probably heard the car pull up.
"Mr. Hearst." She greeted him politely, "Ma'am."
"Your mother isn't back from her trip yet."
Caleb nodded, "Don't worry Marie, I'm just here to look for something." Marie just nodded her head and Caleb scurried past her with Georgia hot on his heels.

"What are you looking for?" Georgia asked.
Caleb shrugged, he had no idea but she didn't say anything more as Caleb pushed open the door to his dad's old office. He went over the bookshelf taking note of the single picture frame that was up. It was of his father and Kingsley Pascal, smiling in the living room of his childhood home. He shook his head and turned to go towards the desk that was in the center of the room. He unlocked the draws and started flipping through old notes and papers lying around.

Caleb suddenly came across his father's check book and shrugging he started flipping through it ; some of these receipts had dated back from even five years ago but what made Caleb stop in his tracks was a check made out the woman who was in the same room as him days before she had left him in Greece. The amount on the check was for five hundred thousand dollars and Caleb leaned back in his seat a little flustered. His father had paid Georgia money? For what?

He was about to turn around and demand Georgia remember when something caught his eye, the signature at the bottom was unfamiliar to him. He'd watched his father sign millions of documents, countless amounts of times and this signature wasn't his. Someone who wasn't familiar with his father's signature wouldn't be able to tell but looking at it now, Caleb could tell, it was forged. Caleb's brows suddenly furrowed as his mind was trying to piece together what was happening.

Someone forged his father's signature to pay Georgia half a million dollars for what?

"C..C...Caleb...." Georgia spoke in a hushed whisper.
Caleb suddenly whipped his head to see Georgia staring at the picture of his father and Kingsley.
"I....I.... r..remember him." Her dainty finger was pointing at Kingsley.
Caleb gritted his teeth, "—, he was in Greece."
Caleb furrowed his eyebrows, "Wait what?"
"Kingsley?"
She nodded, "Kingsley Pascal, right?"
Caleb nodded his head, "Do you remember anything about why?"

Georgia suddenly looked like she was in a daze of some kind and Caleb suddenly started to worry. He'd never seen her like that before, it was like she was stuck in a trance of some kind that didn't allow her to move.
"Georgia?"
"-baby..." Caleb called to her softly.
Suddenly she shook her head and stared at him wide eyed.

"Caleb." Her voice seemed shocked beyond belief.
"There was something I only just remembered about Sloan," she paused, "Another one of the reason I broke up with him,"
"Kingsley hired him to get close to me"
Caleb furrowed his eyebrows, hired him?
Was that what he meant at the cocktail party earlier today?
"Hired him to do what?"

She bit her lip as if trying to remember, "To find out what I knew."
What she knew? What she knew about what?
"I'm getting bits and pieces back but it's coming back slowly... I'm sorry I can't remember everything." She suddenly looked frustrated.
Caleb shook his head, "Just take your time, everything will come back soon." well at least he hoped so.

They had stayed a whole other hour and Caleb had found nothing and suddenly tearing his eyes away from all the documents, he checked the time and sighed, it was very late and Caleb suddenly shook his head. If there was anything else to find he would have to find it tomorrow. Motioning Georgia towards the door he smiled when he held out his hand and she took it immediately following after him.
