"It's becoming clearer"

O N W A R D S;

Caleb had run over his mother's words a thousand times, over and over in his head.

'your father chased away'

"What do you mean?" He'd asked two days ago.
His mother, Jillian sighed, "Oh dearie, you know your father wasn't big on sharing anything with me at that time," her voice was bitter.
And Caleb understood why, he wasn't the only person is his household who'd had a problem with his father. His mother had had her share of misfortune with that man.

"But I did manage to overhear some of his conversations, one in particular about some girl." She mumbled to herself softly, as Caleb waited patiently.
"Forgive me dear, my memory is bit foggy."
— isn't everyone's these days, he thought silently to himself.
"I don't recall who he was talking too but I knew he was pissed. I remember him saying he needed to get rid of her. He didn't say why or how he was going to go about it but then he'd have his son back."

Caleb had replayed the conversation countless times over in his mind. He knew that he was just going on the hearsay from his mother and she could have easily mistook the conversation for something else entirely but she also could have given him the first clue to what he'd been asking himself the last five years. He was tired of waiting around for Georgia to remember, he was going to find out himself. And now for the first time in a long time, Caleb wished his father was alive so he could string him up and interrogate him himself.

While investigating was on his agenda, it wasn't the first priority on his list. He needed go see her and get her back. If she thought she was going to be the girl that got away yet again, she was dead wrong. She wasn't going anywhere if he could help it. When he saw her again, they were having a long talk. Caleb no longer cared about if she remembered why she left him or not. For once, he wasn't focused on the misfortunes of the past but his mind was on his future; his future with Georgia.

On the way to the hospital Caleb was bouncing in his seat. He parked his car and walked into the hospital and strolled up to the receptionist. It wasn't Betty there but all the same he went up to her with a smile.
"Good morning." He said politely.
She barely looked up from her clipboard at him, "How may I help you?"
"Here to sign in to see Georgia Graham."

The woman looked up at him with confusion written all over her face, "Miss Graham?"
Caleb nodded his head, "Yeah, is there a problem?"
The woman looked over her clipboard as if she to double check, "Sir, it says here that Miss Graham was released a few days ago."
Released from the hospital?
"She's not here anymore?" Caleb asked.
"That's correct." She nodded.

Caleb nodded, "You don't know by chance where I could find her?" He asked.
The woman narrowed her eyes at him, "Maybe an address?" He looked hopeful.
The woman scoffed, "You're the second man to come in here and ask for her residency!"
The second? Who the fuck was the first?
"Patient privacy is strict here, so no I can't give you her address."

Caleb nodded but more intrigued by what she'd said earlier, "Who wanted her address earlier?"
The receptionist rolled her eyes, "And why would I tell you that?"
Caleb frowned, "Did he give you his name?"
Caleb had a feeling it was Sloan, Georgia's ex but he needed to be sure.
The receptionist again gave him a quizzical look before replying with a no.

Caleb nodded unsure of whether she was lying or not but in the corner of his eye he saw Betty and bid the woman goodbye and briskly walked over to her. Upon seeing him her face etched with surprise, "Mr. Hearst!" She exclaimed.
"I hope you know if you're looking for Georgia that she was released a few days ago."
Caleb nodded, "I found out."
Betty looked him up and down, "I'm guessing something happened?" The older woman asked.

Caleb chuckled, "You could say that. She won't return my calls."
Betty looked thoughtful, "I thought I'd get her address but the receptionist wouldn't budge."
Betty sighed before replying, "Maybe I can help you out with that."
He raised his eyebrows in surprise, "Betty, I couldn't ask you too—"
She cut him off, "Be quiet before I change my mind!"

She huffed, "Wait here and I'll be right back."
In five minutes Betty came back with a piece of paper in her hand.
"Here, that's it."
On the paper was an address and Caleb smiled, "Thank you so much." Caleb leaned forward and kissed the older woman.
She patted his shoulder, "Promise me Caleb!"
"Mhm?" He answered.
"Promise me, the next time I hear from you, it'll be you and that girl's wedding!"

Caleb chuckled, "Promise."
