We pulled up in front of a huge metal gate as Jace pulled out his phone out of his pocket. I sat there waiting for Jace to finish what he was doing and I took the opportunity to take in my surroundings.

Surely, we weren't going into the house in front of us... no, that's absurd.

I shifted in my seat and looked out my window, looking for a different reason why we would be here. But there was nothing. No other houses or buildings could be seen for miles. There was no way we would be going in there, was there?

The car started to move again, making my vision turn in front of me. The gates had now opened, and we were driving down the long driveway. I eagerly watched as the house in front of me slowly showcased itself in all its grand beauty.

Grand silver metal gates ensured safety around the enormous house. It was built out of bricks, the light-coloured type, chimneys were poking out the roof of the house in numerous different places, the space between every single one equal. The crystal-clear windows elegantly displayed parts of the modern and sophisticated interior.

The sun had begun playing a game of hide-and-seek with the world as it hid behind distant clouds, lighting up the sky in a smooth, deep blue, applying a level of peace on every being that witnessed its beauty. The calm and darkened sky allowed the white lights inside the house to sparkle through the several windows. Large, fluffy trees encased the house, giving off a sense of security. No-one was going to be able to see in.

When Jace killed the engine, nervousness crawled up into my stomach. The possibility of people that are close to Jace being with us today had never previously crossed my mind but now, the thought was inescapable. The expensive house intimidated me and knowing that I might be meeting who owns it, set me off worrying even more.

I hadn't prepared for this moment, meeting the people in his life.

I felt Jace's hand on my leg, "You ready to go?"

I looked at him concerned as confusing and contradicting thoughts entered my mind as we climbed out the car. I was having an internal fight with myself.

I know I am good enough for him but what if whoever we're meeting doesn't think so?

You've never cared about that before.

I know but, they are obviously very wealthy.

And? Wealth and materialistic things do not define who you are as a person. If they can't see how you're a good person, then that's on them.

Holding my head up high, I climbed out of the car and walked towards Jace, stood next to him. I wasn't going to allow the judgement of others effect our 'relationship' or whatever you would call is going on between the both of us.

Jace whole-heartedly smiled at me and took my hand in his. He traced circles in the palm of my hand in the same comforting way he did that night on the roof of his apartment. Even though I had decided that I wasn't going to be intimidated by the house, I still didn't know what to expect, and that made me anxious.

Jace must have sensed this as his stopped in his tracks. He lifted his hand towards my face and let go of my hand. He placed his index and middle finger on my chin and moved my face so that I was looking at him.

The evening light made him look even more good looking than before. His blue eyes appeared darker as the freckles on his face blended it with the new found darkness of the sky. Everything about him was attractive but for some weird reason, right now, that attractiveness was heightened.

He tucked a strand of my hair behind my ear and studied my face for a few seconds, "You'll be amazing. Just show them the person I have grown to love spending time with," he kissed my forehead and let go of my face.

I nodded and gratefully smiled at him, "Come on then. Let's go!" I was the one who grabbed his hand and led us towards the door.

Anticipation was running through me as we walked up to the door. Jace entered a key into the door but turned to me before fully opening the door, "Ready?"

"Yeah."

My shortest chapter yet! I had a slight writers block with this so it took me longer to write than I would like to admit.

I hope you enjoyed reading!
