Jace's POV

I observed as the beautiful woman in front of me ran her hand over numerous different pieces of clothing, occasionally reaching in and putting what she had picked off the clothes rail with the rest of her clothes. She had a smile permanently etched onto her face the entire time, the type that made my heart skip.

That first day I met her, I knew she was fiery.

I had watched her face drop when she spotted Justin and the barbie that was glued to his side. I entered the shop and moved close enough so I was within hearing distance, wanting to be there if something went down. Wanting to be able to step in if I had to knowing what Justin was really like.

I knew that fucker before that day hence why he left so easily when I had glared at him. He knew not to argue or get on the wrong side of me, probably remembering what happened when he did before.

Justin and I were never close; however, I did once wrongfully consider him as a friend. What I failed to realise at the time was that he took advantage of the people who are struggling, like I was, for his own benefit. He had managed to fuck up my life in so many different ways and I wasn't going to let that happen to Ivy, she didn't deserve his shit.

Ivy was stronger than I thought though.

I could tell that what she was telling him was pissing him off. He started getting more aggressive, clenching and unclenching his fists. He needed to get control of himself, but I knew from experience that the dickhead does not know about control, so I stepped in before anything happened. My top got ruined but that's not what mattered, her safety was.

When I stood there that day and looked into her eyes, I could instantly tell that she does not take any shit from anyone and I admired that about her.

From that moment forward, I had an unexplainable and incontrollable urge to know everything about her, so I was happy when her friend gave me her number.

The deepness of my thoughts must had reflected on my face as she turned around, confusion and worry spread across her face.

Ivy does this thing where she tilts her head to the side when she was trying to work something out or when she was trying to read you, which she was doing right now. She stood there, many clothes stacked on her right arm, her eyes carefully scanning my face.

"You okay?"

"Yeah, I'm okay." I truthfully answered. She didn't believe me. So, she stood there, analysing me until I smiled at her. She very slightly nodded her head and turned around. With her back to me, I saw her small shoulders move up and then back down, she sighed.

We had already been here for over three and a half hours. She had made me look at makeup, perfume, made me pick nail varnish colours, rings, dress, shorts, tops, everything, but I didn't mind.

She spun around, "Is there anything you want to look at in here? I'm done shopping now; I have had enough."

"No, not really. You ready to pay?" She sleepily smiled at me and nodded.

"Okay let's go then."

-

"Jace, I am paying now! They are my clothes so I will pay." She gave me a stern look, telling me she wouldn't have it any other way.

"Fine." I gave in, something I had been doing a lot when it came to Ivy. She was extremely stubborn.

I had been paying for everything all day, but I didn't mind. If anything, I had enjoyed being able to spend money on someone else for once. Plus, money was not exactly an issue for me so I might as well.

When my Dad passed away, he left me his savings and gave me the company. I got a large sum of money just from his will and that was not counting for the many properties he owed.

That was almost the turning point in my life, when he died. I had finally realised how lucky I am and decided to get my shit together, not wanting to waste anymore of my life pondering over the past.

We walked out of the mall and to my car, her arm linked in mine and her head resting on my shoulder. She was worn out. I carefully placed the abundance of bags I had been carrying around all day for her, reached into my pocket for the key to open my car. I opened the boot of the car, put her bags in there as she climbed into the passenger seat.

I sat down in the driver's seat, stretching the seatbelt across my body, securing it when I heard her own seatbelt click into place.

"Thank you for today, Jace. I have surprisingly really enjoyed spending time with you." A mischievous grin crossed her face.

"Surprisingly? What the fuck is 'surprisingly' supposed to mean?" I joked looking into her dark chocolatey brown eyes.

She tried to supress a laugh shaking her head, her bouncy coil like curls jumping around her face as she looked out the window. She miserably failed and began laughing as I started the engine, hearing it raw with life, and drove out of the car park.

A few moments of comfortable silence passed. I secretly glanced at her, concerned by her unusual quietness and lack of sarcastic comments. I opened my mouth to say something when I was interrupted by the sound of her soothing voice.

"I mean it though, thank you."

"I didn't do much though. I only took you shopping," I laughed.

"You have done more than you realise," she said and I sensed a hint of sadness in her voice. I looked at her out of the corner of my eye. She had her window open all the way, her elbow resting on the door, her hand propping her head, looking at the world outside but obviously a million miles away in her head. My attention turned to the faint line present in between her eyebrows, the typical brightness in her eyes dimmed. Something was wrong.

"What is going on in that head of yours?"

"Hmm?"

"What are you thinking about?"

She sighed, "Just life, you know?" I could tell that she was trying to hide what she was really feeling. She can't hide her emotions very well. Not from me at least.

"You can tell me anything. You can trust me," I reassured her.

I wanted to be that person that she came to when something was bothering her, when something goes wrong and to celebrate when it goes right. I wanted to be the person she confided in. Like it was with someone but better.

I had only ever felt like this for one other person before. But something about Ivy just drew me in. She was like an itch I couldn't get rid of, but I knew I didn't want to. It was almost like a necessity; my body needed to be around her, and I knew that I couldn't fight it.

I stopped at a red light and felt someone watching me. Ivy held my hand, making me turn and look at her. What was she doing? My eyes travelled down to our intertwined fingers then up to her eyes. Fuck! I was reminded of this morning. An emotion I had never seen from her showed itself through her eyes, but I couldn't work it out.

She tiredly smiled, "I really hope I can," she whispered to herself while looking out the window, but I just about caught what she said.

"You want to play some music?" Ivy asked, trying to sound perkier.

"Yeah, sure."

She connected her phone to the car and turned to me, "What kind of music do you like?" She questioned, looking at her phone scrolled through her music.

"Most to be honest. Play your playlist, I'm sure I'll like it." I gently grinned at her consideration for me.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah." If she likes it, I will make an effort to like it too.

Kind of a filler chapter. I'm not sure though. It's so weird writing in a male's pov...
